    Wow. Hell yes. http://deadspin.com/5814233/the-comeback-pig-marv-alberts-tidy-post+bite-triumph Deadspin did a little Marv retrospective. It's fun to look back at stories that occured prior to the internet domination of sports news. I think the first time I posted on a message board was a year and a half after this happened. ESPN.com had like 1 post a day in heavy traffic times.

    Given the high flameout rate of pitching prospects in general, and high schoolers, I go into it concerned and wait for them to do something to lessen the concern.

    I think one more year at $5.6M. God Tallon is/was an idiot. Will they be able to rent him out again like they did last year and save on the cap hit? yes and I think both Huet and Campbells contracts had more to do with a certain ex Cub PR man then they did Tallon, or at least that is what is widely speculated among a lot of hockey fans. Tallon trading for the Campbell contract has to make one wonder. I think that is a convenient excuse. Tallon was most likely under orders to spend money on something that could draw excitement. McDonough was probably very happy with the Campbell signing when it happened, and to be honest I think they needed it. They were still in desperate need of scoring when they got him, and none of their current stars had truly emerged as stars yet. It just so happens that Campbell was leapfrogged by a half dozen guys shortly after he arrived, making him less important. Huet was never anybody that was going to sell tickets or drum up interest. That was a hockey decision based on the fallacy that you need a big money franchise goalie in order to succeed.

    Lots of people in baseball don't like interviewing for somebody else's job.

    How much time off does the reliever get after those three days? If it's only one, then that is a season of 121 outings and 121 innings. The starter would go 35 starts for 175 innings. I think that reliever is taking much more of a toll.

    I would be happy with an incredibly amazing offer for anybody. But the one for Castro would have to be so incredibly amazing I'm not sure why anybody would offer it.

    They likely can't interview anybody because teams won't want their top front office guys focusing on finding another job in July and August. They can hire a search firm whether Hendry's employed or not. I'm not sure exactly what they can do toward finding the right guy during the season that they can't do while Hendry is employed. They can just do it more openly if they fire Hendry. And they can make sure they are first to pounce on the best prospects. Waiting is dumb. Letting a guy you know won't be running your team next year run your team right now is dumb. The only reason to hold onto the guy now is if you want him to run your team in the future, and if that is the case, they are dumb. Stop making up nonsensical reasons to support keeping Hendry here. It's ridiculous.

    If he keeps pitching the way he is, Matt Garza is an ace. didn't he already stop pitching the way he was? He's taken a noticable step back since returning from injury.

    12/20 - CHI @ PIT - A couple years ago these two teams seemed poised for some potential Finals matchups. If Crosby isn't dead, this is pretty big.

    Carter and Richards? That's insane. Didn't they both recently sign longterm extensions?

    Seems to me like he overplayed his hand. He's in his late 50's and has a pretty terrible track record. Can't imagine many teams jumping at the chance to hire him.

    Not in approach, but in looking absolutely lost at any breaking ball thrown to them. Geo looks overmatched at the plate, much like Soriano does on any breaking stuff. Total pitches swung at: Soriano: 57.9% Soto: 39.7% Pitches swung at outside the strike zone: Soriano: 48.5% Soto: 21.9% I still don't see the similarity. When Soriano looks bad swinging and missing at a breaking ball out of the zone it looks similar to when Soto looks bad swinging and missing at a breaking ball out of the zone. I didn't say it happened at the same rate.
