  1. Lawsuits? Like the one against his father's company? I doubt he's very busy with it. He hasn't had anything to say, but saying things doesn't really matter. He's apparently choosing to wait until the offseason to make any change, at which point we can only hope he cleans house. But there's been no indication that is his plan.
  2. There was also the 1900 or so PA he had in the minors to that point where he wasn't good either. Looks relatively consistent to his 2010 performance to me. But anyway, I'm not even sure what you're arguing, aside from trying to make sure every negative aspect of this discussion is highlighted. No one thinks Colvin should have gotten more PT until now. No one thinks Colvin should be riding the bench right now. No one should think that 100 PA's of Colvin this year(or even the 500 PA's he's had in his MLB career thus far) are proof of anything conclusive about him as a player. So you give him the opportunity to fill in the blanks about his true talent level(whether that's star, scrub, or somewhere in between) that he hasn't had yet this season. What's the issue here? That's quite a little bitchy response from you. Crying about me highlighting negative aspects. Colvin was a 780 OPS hitters in the minors with a sub 200 IsoP, he had like a 950 OPS early in 2010 before fading, but he still ended up with an OPS well over his career minor league numbers due to a IsoP of 250. His total career numbers to date now are a little closer in line with what you could have reasonably expected such a player to do in the majors to this point. The 2010 numbers were inflated and did not earn him any short of extended look of playing like crap this year. He had a chance. He still has a chance. Claiming that Colvin hasn't had an opportunity is nonsense.

  4. That's a hefty price to pay for Sharp, whom I think I'd have rather traded then extended.
  5. I'm not sure how the heck anybody can possibly think of a scenario in which we can go into 2012 knowing that Colvin is the guy.
  6. Well, he hasn't gotten the chance to prove himself this year, and when he had the chance last year he did prove himself. Not that it's Quade's fault Colvin hasn't had that opportunity, but the fact remains he's had little chance to show his stuff this year. He sucked from day one this year, like over the top sucking.
  7. Why is that? I think it's probably the case where Hendry overvalues him based on his "ability" to rack up saves. Given the unnecessary longterm extension last year I'd bet he just has little to no interest in listening to any offer.
  8. What the hell is interesting about him?
  9. There absolutely is a whole hell of a lot wrong with that.
  10. Not just this season. It's the first 6-HR game since 2006. lol who would've thought that the 6-home run games would come in 2006 and 2011, our two worst offensive teams in the last 6 years. Well we already know that the number 1 problem with the Cubs offense is too many solo homeruns so it goes without saying they'd hit lots of homeruns in bad years.
  11. Yeah I actually think at some point Webb will be decent. He is/was extremely raw last year and forced into a starting role because our GM didnt build a competent line. But putting him at LT is suicide. i would honestly put chris williams back at LT before webb. Tice sounded like his next project is Lance Louis, maybe he plays LG and bumps Williams back out there. But I've got zero confidence in Williams back at LT.
  12. I like how he thinks a 3rd rounder for Olsen wasn't enough. That's a pretty good haul for a good but not great TE. They spent a first rounder on him. And spent a crapload of money on another TE last year. They are both gone because they've done a piss poor job of managing the situation. They spent heavily on Olsen, underutlized him and forced themselves to trade him for a lower return.
  13. http://desmond.yfrog.com/Himg616/scaled.php?tn=0&server=616&filename=5y6ll.jpg&xsize=640&ysize=640 Biggs just tweeted some of what Martz said today about the offense, including praise for Garza, calling Williams elite and asking for more linemen.
  14. What the hell for?
  15. I think it's Angelo. He's generally cautious with a desire to build from within and develop his own picks, and on occasion make big splashes in free agency. The McCaskeys don't seem to get involved at all with the way the team is run on the field.

  17. I made that comment to a Pirates fan last week and they didn't appreciate it. Seriously, that has to be the purpose of the design.
  18. Derrek Lee and Ryan Ludwick will lead them to the ring I at least hope they win 82 games this year. Of all pro sports franchises, the Pirates fans (both of them) deserve a winning season and some hope. Completely disagree. They've sucked for 20 years. Big deal. Pirates fans are Steelers and Penguins fans, and their teams have won multiple titles since that time.
  19. It would be cold to send him to Iowa. They would have traded him because somebody wanted him to help them win a pennant.
  20. It seems absolutely ridiculous, since the big name behind it seems to be Trent Dilfer, who is the douchiest douche of all ex-QB douches when it comes to evaluating others QBs.
  21. Angelo madly scrambling to sign 8 more special teams players to 1-year, $3million deals I'm guessing they eat up a decent chunk of that with Forte's extension. Perhaps a good chunk, but not that much. I would like to see them front load the salary portion of his contract so a lot of his cap hit is early on, instead of spread out evenly via a signing bonus.
  22. They said he'd be pitching from the pen when he comes back, so unless Quade pulls a Mateo/Stevens with him, it'll be fine. What are people's thoughts on him pitching in the winter leagues? If the idea is to get him back starting, I do not want to see him in the winter leagues. I feel like there's a greater risk of stupid use and poor monitoring. I'd rather see him work within the organization to strengthen his arm and be prepared to start fresh in the spring. Let him gradually expand his innings and then give him some extended spring training before starting the season in a piggyback situation in the minors. If he's going to be a reliever, go ahead and send him to the winter leagues to get some real work in and then maybe he's a go for the start of next season.
  23. He's also been around long enough to watch the Cubs chew up and spit out those same men. I believe Gillick can see what a challenge this organization is and would want no part of it. Who are all these men? Dallas Green? He landed on his feet. Andy MacPhail went from GM prodigy to Cubs team president and is now Baltimore's boss. He hasn't exactly been ruined. The Cubs have given a former gym teacher, Jim Hendry, an opportunity for widespread respect in the baseball world that has seemingly been untarnished by his failures with the team. I can't imagine any self respecting baseball executive thinking the Cubs are too much of a challenge. They've had incredible front office stabilty for 2 decades and financially secure non-meddling owners.
  24. He owned them in 2009. He could have fired him the day he took over. He should have fired him the first day of the offseason following that purchase and that fact that he didn't fire him last offseason raises huge doubts about his lack of dumbness.
  25. feeling bad has nothing to do with it.
