  1. He gave them grief for getting blown out at home, not for just losing. And unless I'm mistaken didn't Simmons also pick the Rams in that game?
  2. I need Tom Brady to have a nice game, but not have a ridiculous game all at the same time.
  3. would it? all it means is that you need one interleague series at all times. if you spread out the interleague play so that you don't have those two blocks where all the games but one are interleague, it could easily be done without adding any additional interleague games. The number of games isn't necessarily the issue. To this point, each year there are two short news cycles where writers who cover AL teams bitch about the NL not having the DH (for any of a variety of poor reasons). People forget about it being an issue until it crops back up again the next time. I just worry that having an interleague series going on at all times is likely to result in the media cycle lasting a lot longer... which is more likely to influence public perception. I don't see how that could possibly be the issue. If anything the cycle will be extremely diluted because the vast majority of action going on at any given point won't be interleague related. And I think you are making up the scenario where writers are bitching about NL not having the DH. I'm sure it happens, but no that loudly.
  4. I'll bet they accept ATM.
  5. Why is this Cam Newton trivia in a thread about next week's Bears game?
  6. he didn't play as a rookie Is there some designation I'm missing? You burn your rookie year in the NFL if you don't play? Was this question actually asked?
  7. Nonsense. Unless you base your view of Bears fans off of 20 year old SNL sketches. it's not about a lack of fawning. Idiots have routinely labeled the Bears as the worst team in football without any reasonable defense of such picks. The media in general tends to pile on the negativity surrounding the Bears, apparently due to a lack of franchise QBs for several decades. You will occasionally see a guy like Peter King get overly giddy about them. But it's rare. It is justifiable to say you don't think the Bears will be very good this year and/or they will take a step back. 7-9 is a reasonable prediction, and 10 losses isn't absurd. But picking them to be the worst team in the league is flat out stupid, or purposefully inflammatory.

  9. That is an idiotic take away from that game. He's grasping at straws to defend a horrific prediction.
  10. Detroit? Where did you get that from? They played in Baton Rouge. I saw "Tiger Stadium" and instinctively thought Detroit. Baton Rouge makes a ton more sense. So you thought they played on a baseball field that no longer exists? :) If memory serves the field conditions sucked and Benson had a pretty good game.

  12. That meathead knows two things, hit the other guy, and then hit him again. Film will tell the coaching staff all of that stuff. Teams change up audibles all the time. He may be able to give them some knowledge they wouldn't otherwise have, but it probably won't be much of a difference.
  13. Tampa has beaten them twice in the past two years in the dome. Not sure what their defense is doing these days, but that film is probably going to be evaluated.
  14. I've got no interest in dumping him now that they've got a decent coaching staff around him and they are winning games, but that doesn't mean I can look past the god awful decision making involving timeouts and challenges. Those are avoidable mistakes.
  15. I hope everybody saw him 8 yards in the backfield on some of those short yardage plays.
  16. 6.5, and over/under of 47. That's the third highest over/under, and tied for the 5th highest spread.
  17. Bears open the week as 6.5 point dogs to New Orleans as the Saints debut at home. This is where you do not want to face the Saints, but for as explosive as they can be, New Orleans has had some strange home losses the last few years. Cleveland, Tampa, Dallas and Atlanta have all managed to go into the Superdome and come away with wins. The Bears, as a speed team that rarely gets to play on a fast track, could very well be capable of pulling off the upset. I'd expect the secondary to get torched and the offensive line to struggle with noise issues, but you never know. Pull off the road upset and hopes for this season are going to skyrocket. This was penciled in as a loss by just about everyone.
  18. Everything you mentioned is spot on. Now that he seems to have allowed for a more professional and aggressive approach to the offense, his time out/challenge issues are the most glaring example of unnecessarily handicapping his own team's effort. I just don't get it. The same mistakes over and over again.
  19. That's not really a rant and it's not really realistic either.
  20. The NFL and NFLPA is going all out and donating a million dollars. The average NFL franchise is worth a billion and they just signed a MNF contract worth like 2 billion a year. Nice of them to dig so deep. I think that's not a very justifiable complaint. It's not like this is the only thing they donate to. It's not like individual players and owners don't donate on their own, to this and other causes. I get it. Just pisses me off that stuff like this even has to "OK'd." Urlacher can't wear gloves in a nod to little Johnny from down the street who has cancer without being fined 5K. I don't see what the fuss is about. They wear uniforms. They collectively bargain how the league will be run, the NFL protects it's brand because it's worth billions of dollars and the players benefit significantly from how well the NFL has been run over the decades. They did ok it. So what's the big deal to be pissed off about?

  22. By very recently do you mean like 3 years after it was created? It turned its first profit five years after it was created, in 2009, and most industry analysts were surprised. I think that counts as very recently. I don't. It's the end of 2011. They've been profitable for a while and became profitable farily quickly. Their revenue started pouring in very early and there hasn't been much doubt about being able to pay bills for quite a while now.
  23. Let the castrations begin!!
  24. Blackhawks traded with Islanders for Toews' little brother, who is a 21 and a former third round pick.
