  1. That's not fair enough. His stance on football players is absurd. You don't know how to react to a play? Oh shut up. You react to the play and call that you see. Who the hell just sits there and ponders whether he should cheer because of the possibility that the review guy will summon the ref to take a look and overturn it? That's moronic.
  2. 1. Meaningless 2. He expected to be given the managerial job and thought a major league coaching position was beneath him. 3. Baseless, and meaningless. 4. Theo paid lip service for the mongoloids that think the Cubs lost because they don't move runners over enough or practice in spring training. Theo knows the Cubs lost because Jim Hendry and his underlings were incompetent fools running things like high school coaches. moving runners over and stressing fundamentals aren't going to change things for the Cubs. The fact that lots of idiotic baseball people thought like idiots for a long time doesn't defense Ryne Sandberg for thinking like an idiot.
  3. wouldn't he rather assist Theo?
  4. Quit being an ass. It had nothing to do with last night.
  5. I'm not sure what's so spaz about pointing out the obvious.
  6. Get a grip on what? It was a fake rain out that STL utilized to try and get Carpenter back on their mound.
  7. sure it didn't help last night, but they still used the fake rain out to increase their chances of winning the world series.
  8. I won't. Saying it's the beer for people who don't like beer is stupid.
  9. Eh. A Corona with a lime may not be my favorite, but it does me just fine from time to time. It's for beer drinkers who don't like beer. Saying its piss water is giving it a compliment. But if Theo likes it that's fine with me. That's nonsense. You can enjoy a good beer and enjoy a corona as well. Personally I wouldn't drink it in the freezing cold fall weather, it's more of a first signs of summer thing for me. But it's fine.
  10. This is how every "good baseball man" advances in baseball, because all baseball men have nothing but good things to say about all good baseball men. Every pitching coach does a great job, every hitting coach is tremendously helpful, every manager has players that want to play for him, every scout is a savvy one. Those statements are completely worthless. As some have already noted, the Cubs players were gaga over Mike Quade last fall and he proved to be an incompetent boob.
  11. He has been in the clubhouse for some of the biggest disasters in recent Cubs history so what the hell good is it for him to be one?
  12. WHY DID THEY GO FOR THE 2 POINT CONVERSION WHEN THEY NEEDED A FIELD GOAL ANYWAY??????
  13. Yes, I'm fairly certain they took a look at the other safeties and I don't think it was made to prove a point. The Bears were holding more safeties than they normally do, and they expect their backups to play special teams. Chris Harris doesn't contribute on special teams and he's not starting, so they cut him to bring in a LB (where they were thing) who contributes on special teams.
  14. It really is. The Cubs have contended in the not too distant past. The Cubs are clearly heading in the right direction, and they have money to spend. People will go to the money unless the situation is a disaster and the Cubs aren't a disaster.
  15. His WAR was like half this year. He wasn't the same player.
  16. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THAT OLD TO REMEMBER HIS PLAYING DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hahaha I realize that, but there is a new generation of fans(including my kids) that don't remember his playing days and didn't see him play. The older fans you will create goodwill with are the 50 and 60 years olds. There's really not much business sense in doing that. If you are investing in goodwill you do that with the younger crowd. But the Cubs should be entirely about the best team, they have no use for goodwill at this stage of the game.
  17. Yeah, that was after Theo was announced. The one I'm thinking of was from before. I think Demp can get 3/35 on the open market. At that price (and at his age, and coming off the year he is), I have to imagine he'd be willing to take that rather than gamble on his market value still being good enough to make more after this year. Only if he thinks he can't do better in 2012.
  18. Byrd was almost exactly the same player this year as he was last year. no he wasn't
  19. I seem to recall a quote by Dempster where he basically came out and said "I'll exercise my option if they express an interest in keeping me beyond this year. Otherwise, I'm gone." If that's not just a figment of my imagination, not doing a sell job would be the same as convincing him to leave. The quote I read after the Theo news was that he was excited and wanted a chance to win and finish his career in Chicago. He hinted about an extension, but he might prefer to make $15m this year and try and have a better 2012 which should leave him in a position to wind up with more overall money. If somebody is going to give him 3/30 after he declines, 1/15 and go from there could be a better option.
  20. I'd assume that more would have to be done to fill out the rotation. The question I'm asking isn't really about the composition of the entire rotation. It's more about whether Demp would be worth anything close to $15M in 2012. I like Dempster and he's likely to be worth around what his contract calls for... but I think it'd be in the best interests of the team to convince him to go. Dempster projects as a Type A. If he declines the option and we offer arbitration, we'll get two picks and $15 million in payroll freed up. We could approximate his production by signing Paul Maholm for a fraction of that price and spend the rest of the money on upgrades elsewhere. I'm not really sure how you convince him to go. I think you can choose not to do a sell job on him, but it's about whether Demspter can get more elsewhere. I don't see anybody wanting to pay big money and give up a draft pick for him.
  21. He's now at 4 straight seasons of 200+ IP, when he was younger he went 3 straight before surgery. I think there's some risk that he's coming close to emptying the tank. However, I think his 2011 would have been a lot better if he didn't have a complete idiot for a manager. There were multiple times, including opening day, where Dempster scuffled through an outing and/or what should have been his last inning only to have Quade extend him into the 110+ pitch zone and he got rocked. He had a 900+ OPS against in the 7th inning as well as 900+ past the 101 pitch mark. It was 1350 in a batter's 4th PA against him and his horrible manager never picked up on that issue. He wasn't great early in games, but if Quade didn't start wasting his efforts from Day 1 I think his 2011 would have looked a lot better. And if you treat him like a 6 inning pitcher this year he could be pretty decent. But I would love it if he didn't pick up his option.
  22. YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE THAT OLD TO REMEMBER HIS PLAYING DAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. Minor league teams sell tickets with gimmicks. It's not going to change the numbers of tickets the Chicago Cubs sell.
