  1. I literally would not be the least bit annoyed. And if the Cubs ended up with Pujols while they got Sandberg, all the better.
  2. But what is this system? A bunch of mediocre ceilings at the top and quantity over quality. I would be more than happy to let them take just about anything they want, and lots of it, then let Theo's boys bring in fresh meat next June.
  3. Start with Jackson and McNutt. Add in Vitters if they'd take him. From the major league roster something like Barney and Cashner. Anything shy of Castro and Garza would be fine with me. Great chance for the new guys to completely overhaul the system.
  4. Zambrano, Soriano, Byrd and a 3rd round draft pick. Or anything in the Cubs system.
  5. This is expected to be about whether LaRussa will be back or not. unless it is not
  6. cheers tony. have a drink on me
  7. Who gives a [expletive] about experience, its about maximizing your revenue that can be put back into the team. With that said, I highly doubt they will replace the scoreboard, nor would I want that. But, the point of a jumbotron isn't replays or kiss cams, its about advertising dollars. Yeah, that's fine from a non-fan in attendance point of view. But while there the jumbotrons do try and distract to take away from the action on the field. I prefer to not have all that nonsense. What I prefer most is maximizing the Cubs chances, and if that means a jumbotron, so be it.
  8. What's with some baseball fans inferiority complex about football? Why do you care that other people watch NFL coverage? In this day and age of information and entertainment everywhere, you have to compete for attention and expect it to be divided.
  9. the Blackhawks had a longer streak that ended a couple years earlier.
  10. I like replays. What does that have to do with a jumbotron? Jumbotrons are worthless from a fan in attendance perspective.
  11. That would be very ugly, and not very jumbo. I think you need to keep the scoreboard and do the jumbotrons off to the side.
  12. Yeah, it's the only way to go at this point. It's just stupid to give huge contracts to RBs this far into their career. It sucks, but it's smart.
  13. really? how? In all honesty his leftiness is what sticks out most for me when picturing him (other than killing dogs that is)
  14. Barely losing to New England is not something to prop up a team. New England absolutely sucks on defense and they've now lost to Buffalo and Pittsburgh. They also barely beat a horrible Miami team. They are not the superstar team many made them out to be. Dallas is pretty much the epitome of mediocrity in this league, and consistently overrated. That said, impressive win by the Eagles. They have a whole bunch of NFC losses already (3) and for wild card purposes they really need to beat the Bears. However, that division is probably still open to them with a loss. The Giants have a tough stretch coming up, the Eagles still face the Giants, and Philly still has Arizona, Seattle and Miami on their schedule. If they lose to the Bears then they'd only have one loss left to play with and still finish 10-6. Maybe that's New England, which along with the Giants game is probably their only two games left where they will be underdogs (depending on how their season goes). Anyway, after last night the line is 6.5. I view this one as more of a toss-up myself, which means I'd be happy to take those points. Philly hasn't beaten the Bears by more than 4 since 2004, and the Bears are 3-1 against them since that time. They match up well. The big concern is this defense has aged, while safety remains in flux, and Philly's offense is rolling. It could get ugly, but coming off the bye and with the matchup I think the Bears should do well.
  15. That answers that. Thanks Kyle! But is it a rule or just customary? Is there anything that forbids multiple payments?
  16. It absolutely does not "necessarily translate to major league success". Lots of minor league managers have enjoyed success that doesn't translate.
  17. You read what I wrote right, but I said it wrong. What I meant was that Wilson's contract (which I think is likely to end up in the $80-90 range) will be spread out over 4-5 years, whereas Darvish would have a large lump sum up front that might hinder pursuing the elite bat we need most. On the posting fee, I think they'll start above the $50 million the Sox paid for Daisuke and teams will start out well below it. They may end up right around that $50 million, just above, or just below but I think we almost have to assume more until we know otherwise. And I think to back off from Darvish simply because Daisuke failed is jumping the gun. They're two different pitchers, as Darvish is younger, bigger, more projectable, and doesn't have the massive workload Daisuke had. I remember Daisuke was proud of the fact that he could pitch a massive amount of innings and not get injured. What happened? He shortly had injury and ineffectiveness problems. Darvish doesn't have the same workload risk that Daisuke had. This is assuming a posting fee that gets paid out in cash up front. Do they all have to be done that way?
  18. Every day? No. At all? Definitely. He will do stuff that some people choose to call the "right way" because almost every manager tries to do stuff to justify their job and the media eats that crap up. He will do it, and he will probably do it more than most.
  19. Is there really a question?
  20. Lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots of professional athletes work really hard at their job. Doesn't make them management material. And the meaningless comment was both about the fact that he was a damn good player (should not enter into discussion) and that his managers said he worked hard.
  21. You can try and convince him to stop lying.
  22. That's not fair enough. His stance on football players is absurd. You don't know how to react to a play? Oh shut up. You react to the play and call that you see. Who the hell just sits there and ponders whether he should cheer because of the possibility that the review guy will summon the ref to take a look and overturn it? That's moronic. If Devin Hester does a nifty sideline dance to avoid a defender and steps very close to the line, I want to be able to go nuts when he reaches the end zone and the officials raise their hand. I don't want to be thinking "That was cool but I don't know if it's going to count!" You are a freak.
  23. Yes there is. You overturn the bad out call and leave the bases loaded. That's fair, because a bad out call that clearly screws a team over gets overturned but the would he or wouldn't he discussion isn't the same.
