  1. Jed explicitly said the primary motivation behind their moves this year was to dissuade people from believing they were hoarding cash. They obviously aren’t trying to win the division or contend, but they are trying to stop the bleeding of fan interest. If you can win more games then you lose this season you can start convincing the fans you might actually be good one day again.
  2. whoa boy, these ads sure are something. One in between each post, side bar and bottom
  3. Hawks losing again to the devils. Still way too many fans in attendance
  4. Yes, especially for something like the offseason thread. It was initially a general roster turnover thread that transformed into the offseason thread and then some heathen admin renamed it this clunky nonsense.
  5. Maybe I'm just dumb but I cannot figure out how to change the thread title. Is there an option to make this happen at least for the person who started the thread? @Brock Beauchamp
  6. there is a bears specific discussion going on
  7. I had them at 79 but chalked this one up to a loss so officially 80 win territory now
  8. Holy horsefeathers I love the pitch clock. Game changer
  9. Yes I read that. Somebody not wanting to spend $220 on three tickets to opening day says a lot about the lack of interest in this team. In years past it would have sold out and tickets would be going for well over $100 on the secondary market. Right now there are tons of tickets available for under $100. You can get 4 together at $59/each. Dynamic pricing makes it very annoying to plan a trip. But it's the lack of interest in the team that is making all these tickets available day of. If Cubs fans were excited about this team, those tickets would be gone or much more expensive.
  10. It’s opening day and there’s a ton of tickets available at under $100. It’s not the fault of dynamic pricing. The indifference to this roster is palpable.
  11. Am I the only one that played for like Bob’s Hardware and the F.O.P. or some bike store when I was a kid? I always hated the kids who got to play for real team names
  12. Halfway through the first game thread post the text went from white letters on dark background to black letters on dark background
  13. They are desperate to stop the bleeding with fan support. Jed has said the acquisitions they made were as much about proving they aren’t hording cash as for baseball purposes.
  14. Hawks losing again in front of far too many fans at the United center. Blue jackets already lost. No ground to gain.
  15. It seemed like they actually went out and invested in the team but then you look at the roster and realize they lost their best hitter, bring back some highly volatile guys that all have major injury issues. They brought in one star who’s only kind of a star. They don’t have a 3B, 1B or CF. The pitching staff seems competent, but severely lacking in upside. I believe this team was designed to play a lot of 3-2 games and trick fans into thinking they still have a chance in August. The perfect 79 win team.
