  1. I thought it hit the helmet but missed the replay.
  2. It's going to be awesome when they make a commercial out of Paul standing back up and walking off the field.
  3. I think WGN has ESPN beat. They have like 1 non-WGN show commercial per break. And they have billboards everywhere in NYC now. They've been back on time warner cable for more than a year now after being gone for a decade plus, but they are really pushing to stay (or get back) to relevant.
  4. is there a station out there that runs more ads about itself than WGN? Probably ESPN, but not sure anything else.
  5. Yes, don't want him to ruin the Cubs postseason aspirations. No, I mean I'd hate to have all this attention about his retirement and then go out and get booed after walking a couple guys and just generally looking bad.
  6. I'd hate to see him pitch today and blow another save or something.
  7. I realize that is how the people who want to make this a story want to frame it for the uninformed, but the Cubs are not asking for government money.
  8. Much more so than the 20K game. That was so huge.
  9. How? Why is that being a prick? That's just stupid. Why isn't he allowed to be pissed about the situation?
  10. Joe's money is still the primary money behind the Cubs. He is not involved with the team, but the kids had to get his blessing to make this purchase for the family. It has been completely overblown by the media and the politicians are seizing the opportunity to scold a 1%er, but that's all to be expected.
  11. I would think they would bring up a reliever who is ready to pitch ASAP to take his place, and wait to bring Travis up the day he is ready to pitch, 4 days from now.
  12. You have to realize that's kind of absurd, right? There's not going to be boycotts of Cubs games because the chairman's dad wants a republican in office.
  13. I randomly saw some dude in a Wood Cubs jersey this morning in Rockefeller Center. Wonder if he knew...
  14. so lots of great seats available still?
  15. He's not asking for government money.
  16. they shouldn't trade him at all if they aren't getting a really good prospect or three
  17. The line's weakness is made up primarily of its inability to protect the QB, more than it's inability to run block. Forte hasn't exactly been Barry Sanders making holes where they are not.
  18. the moderators didn't start the thread.
  19. I'm not sure why anybody should assume from what Rahm has said that a deal is dead.
  20. the Cubs won't make any more, but the White Sox probably make more by having people actually show up
  21. what the hell is going on here? why is "the fallout" some 2 year old article? david haugh is tweating some response that Tom supposedly just made
  22. Haha, that's like a who's who of bum pitchers. I see a bunch of guys who put together nice little (or not so little) careers pitching, and Sergio Mitre.
  23. You're still wrong. You can't put the focus on the future forever. Theo isn't going to be all in for the future like he is right now in a couple years. You have to try to win now eventually. This is nothing new. The Cubs have done this on numerous occasions in the past and for prolonged periods of time.
  24. Or maybe they only have one good reliever. Plenty of really bad pitchers have fairly decent results for a month or so at a time.
