  1. No more worried than I was to bring Milton Bradley from Arlington to Wrigley. Or Marlon Byrd. I read that to assume he was referring to the nightlife? Bingo I would think living in Texas would drive a man to destroy his life with drugs and alcohol more so than living in Wrigleyville would tempt a man to indulge.
  2. Not swing away, pull the bat back and slash at the pitch. In theory it's a nice concept, in practice it's a great way to get behind in the count. Let your best hitters hit. thanks for reading the entire post I did. But I responded to the part where you said he wanted him to swing away.

  5. No, it isn't. You are talking about very different caliber hitters in those different situations.
  6. Give him whatever he wants, when he dies of an overdose you are out of the contract.
  7. He's hardly stake his future on him. Webb could never play in another NFL games, the Bears could have a tremendous season and Tice would become a hot coaching commodity. They've said a lot of nice things about Webb, they've said a lot of nice things about a lot of not very good players who have been replaced as soon as possible. They gave him a shot, he sucks. If they are moving Williams to tackle it is so he can take back his old job, not to ride the bench.
  8. Well, where do most players come from? California, Texas and Florida? Hardly anybody actually wants to play for a Florida team and they have no money. I'd guess it happens in California more than any other state. More than Illinois at least.
  9. Was it about GRINDERS? I think it was the one about Mike Caruso's 2 run homer in a game at Wrigley. I think the Sox swept that series. Nah, some walk off grand slam by Ventura. Then how he cares about fundamentals and playing the game the right away, and omg kill me. Hah, I've probably seen that commercial a dozen times and completely zone out each time.
  10. Some semblance of thinking involved, maybe. But it's not logical at all.
  11. It's beyond a bit much, it's ludicrous. The only hint that they view Williams as a swing tackle is because Biggs wrote that they should. It would be beyond an incredibly stupid decision to make him a swing tackle, so I am going to assume they don't, because they can't be that dumb. Swing tackle isn't even a position though so people really need to stop talking about it. It's the just a lineman who isn't good enough to start, a backup.
  12. I really don't see the dig. If anything, he downplays the notion that simply using a different system will make the line block better.
  13. If they are actually going to move Williams back to tackle, that would be a huge indication that they are not committed to Webb as their starter.
  14. He already is a legit prospect, having put up respectable numbers young for his league in the last 3 years, despite no patience whatsoever. While looking up his injury status I noticed a blurb in bleacher nation about his return. They said something like it's unfortunate that there is hype of Lake and it's premature, and that TEN is where he should be. It didn't make any sense, because it's not like the hype is saying he needs to be in the majors tomorrow. Everybody who has positive things to say about him realizes it's going to take time. There's nothing unfortunate or premature about being excited for his potential, given his track record to date. It would be one thing if he was in rookie ball or something, but we're talking about a guy approaching 2000 professional PA who has seen time at all stops and held his own despite obvious flaws.
  15. Hamels hasn't lived in CA in 10 years. Why is this only a concern when a player is from SoCal?? Are we afraid that Garza is going to go to the Giants? Selma's only an hour farther than SD is from LA Being away from your home state for 10 years does not make it any less of your home state. It's not like he was elsewhere by choice. He was drafted. Free agency can give a guy options, and in a state like CA with 5 teams there's a lot of opportunity for guys to move back, if they want. I think it's something that does happen, so no reason to dismiss it as a potential hurdle.
  16. everbody on tenn is hitting right now, it's 11-1 in the 4th.
  17. Was Lake injured? Why does he only have 27 PA so far this year? well, google answered my question. I was excited to see a 994 OPS for the season at AA then bummed to see it's just been a brief display so far.
  18. Maybe they are. But I think the Bears have made clear that Carimi is going to play RT. I think ideally he would be an RT and it's probably better to at least have one guy on your line starting at the ideal position. If they move their best guard to tackle, they already have a guard playing center and backup caliber players starting at guard, no reason to make your RT play LT.
  19. I highly doubt they are enamored with Webb. They've thought there was more there than most people thought, but he's not any good and they probably know it. You don't move your best guard to be the backup tackle just because you think you have plenty of depth at guard. They have numbers, not quality.
  20. Wow, that's some insight. Well, read the couple of posts above mine, asking whether or not he's going to get a chance to start or not. Not sure how else I could follow that up, other than saying it's up to him and he'll be given a chance. If you prefer, I could say Webb sucks and Williams should automatically get the job, because we don't know that he sucks. Sorry, if that was the response you were looking for. You wrote he won't be handed the job, that he will have to play well to earn the job and if he does play well you think he will start or if not it might be Webb. For the record, my opinion is it would be beyond moronic to do anything but start Williams if you move him to tackle. They are forcing themselves to hand him the job without technically handing him the job. So unless he really falls on his face this summer, he's going to be the starting LT if he's actually moved to tackle.
  21. Wow, that's some insight.
  22. What? Seems like it's out of spite, because the "independent" arbitrator ruled against MLB. I'm not saying Braun is innocent or guilty (although he's probably guilty), but this just reeks of spite. I wonder if the Player's Union is going to do anything. "Ok, here's the deal.: You're an "independent" arbitrator, but if you rule against us, we'll fire you." A guy made a stupid decision and they had the ability to fire him, so they did. That's not taking your ball and going home. That's acting appropriately in response to incompetence.
  23. Yeah, but they'd all be Tebow so you'd be golden.
