  1. I guess, but I'm kinda ok with the disagreement being with the 4th or 5th best team being pissed than the 2nd best team. At least we've moved the discussion further down the "ladder". What if a 12-0 Boise State left out after winning @ MSU, @ TCU and vs. Utah. Of course you could make the argument that they should have played a tougher schedule, then BSU fans say they tried, and we're left with the exact same argument as before. What is Boise State really is the best team that year and don't get selected? What if there are 5 teams with 1 loss and relatively similar resumes, to the point where the number 1 team could just as easily been 5. I know these are a bit of extreme scenarios and many years there will be a clear gap between 1 and 4, but as soon as something like the above happens, there will be controversey. And the first time a 4 seed wins the title, there will be more scrutiny towards the selection process. Now that BSU has been "on the scene" for quite a while I think it will be much easier for them to actually qualify if they do go undefeated, to get a spot. A big part of their problem before was nobody believed they were really any good and just a flash in the pan type team (which many teams have done in the past). I think that sentiment has changed.
  2. Yeah there were actually 2 concerts in 2 days, Roger Waters on Friday, Brad Paisley on Saturday, and then the Cubs played at Wrigley on Tuesday. It was bound to be terrible but I was still surprised at how bad it was. Yes, I was @ Wrigley June 14th. I can't remember who, but somehow it was reported there were two concerts, not just Roger Waters. WSR?
  3. All joking aside, I really don't understand how being a drunk 22 year old is "really bad". Millions of people act that way every day.
  4. Isn't it more like the 49th best team that gets screwed? I thought that was the argument, since there are all the automatic selections. Anyway, your point remains. But that outlandish whining is going to exist no matter where the cutoff point is. I think 4 should be enough to get the teams that belong there in the hunt. But I don't like the committee.
  5. People love to hate the ginger hammer but despite the negative headlines he's easily the leader in the clubhouse. And in fact, he's playing at a more elite country club while everybody else is hacking away at munis.
  6. His OPS has been below average for a RF. So, you could say he's been decent but that's about it.
  7. The most obvious way is the BCS top 4
  8. Something is getting laid in Wrigleyville http://twitpic.com/9z0auj just to clarify, they are laying new sod, sullivan says its for Rizzo
  9. Levine said on Waddle and Silvy the other day that the majority of his information comes from other teams. Sounds like there are little to no sources inside the front office nowadays, a major change from the Hendry regime. As I said earlier, Levine has no inside information whatsoever. Feel free to disagree with me davell but you'll be hard-pressed to find any information out of Levine that isn't a) pure speculation on his part -- or-- b) not widely known by anything that follows the team to any extent. If you choose to continue to suckle from the Levine teet, be my guest. Uh, at what point did I say Levine has inside info at this point? I'm guessing he's confused davell with david
  10. this is the weirdest post i've ever seen the weirdest part to me is that it was written a month and a half after the first part of the bizarre conversation by somebody who posts multiple times a day.
  11. Yeah this is a bummer. Trying to plan a trip to the 'Peg for a Saturday game early in the year. But I doubt those first few weeks will be played. I would be stunned if they don't resolve it, Don Fehr and all. Critically important for both sides to get it done. Can't have another labor dispute already. I'm not listening to a rapist
  12. Peter Gammons gets everything first, but then he forgets before reporting on it.
  13. I don't understand what is so hypocritical, or why people have a problem with what they did. They knew he cheated and was easily bustable, so they had him busted. If he was so stupid to openly cheat with one team and then pull the same stuff while facing them, that's his problem. Hypocracy: "It's ok when you do it for me, but not ok when you do it for anyone else." What Washington did is the very definition of the word. Should Peralta have cheated? Absolutely not. Does he deserve the suspension he's about to receive? Absolutely yes. But Washington letting him get away with it for them, but then busting him as soon as he does it against them was crappy. If they were ok with it then, they should be ok with it now. End of story. I don't know what hypocracy is but that's not the definition of hypocrisy. Why should a team be ok with a player cheating against them? If you are a cheater you are best off not letting anybody know, on your team or other teams, because odds are you will not all be on the same team for your entire career.

  15. Chris Kuc ‏@ChrisKuc Take the release of the NHL's and #Blackhawks' regular-season schedule with a grain of salt. Labor strife looming.

  20. How do you tweak fat? by doing the truffle shuffle without stretching?
  21. I think David posted about this last page... Any word on what happened? deadspin brought it up and mentioned he suffers from migraines. he's being evaluated
  22. Ryan Howard could very well be worthless. His last two healthy seasons were nothing special and he's probably only going to keep getting worse. Utley could still have a little left in the tank. But at his age you can't expect much more for a middle infielder.
  23. If there was much to the notion that you can carry over a streak, hot or cold, from the minors to the majors then it would be worth keeping that in mind. However, I have doubts about the notion that you can actually "maximize" a player's chance of success by calling him up during a hot streak.
