    I'm curious but when was this? Everyone probably means Kyle. I remember cubinny ranting about Shark sometime this summer (probably many times), but I dont' remember everybody freaking out. It's been a long boring horrible summer of baseball though so I've probably blocked lots of stuff from my memory.

    I'd imagine most of the top 10 leaks out reports that they wanted their guy #1 overall.

    The odds of them becoming a decent MLB player are more important than the average wins, in this case. Besides, how much are your long-term projections on Castro, Rizzo and such going to change based on the next few weeks? Obviously, no one wants to see the team losing because Castro derrickroses his knee or Rizzo forgets how to hit. But if that random collection of Crash Davises we have on our roster right now costs us some draft position? I think that's worth being annoyed over. This is what I don't get. Two weeks of progress by these guys will show us nothing. Half the team is destined to be out of baseball within a year or two. How can you be on board with the deliberate tanking of this season, welcome the atrocious play of the team all season long with all of the attention paid to the future, and then pretend it's better to win a couple more games this September than get as close to the top pick as possible?

    He could be useful if they played this season. Naive, no doubt, but I can't believe all sides are dumb enough to let this happen again. I still don't believe they will. I can't believe that I believe they will let it happen, but I do believe they will miss time at the very least. Which is just so incredibly stupid.

    Is that lineman downfield illegally when the ball is caught? Sure looks like it - that's the first thing I thought when I saw that picture. He's a good 2-3 yards in front of the line of scrimmage before Stafford lets the pass go. Play starts at about the 20 second mark. http://scores.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=320909008 I believe there's a cushion in there of about 2-3 yards.

    Every wedding I go to those people arrive dressed down 2-3 levels from the rest of the guests. And by those people I mean fat people. They don't suit up like the rest of the population.

    I have no idea why people were predicting such foolishness. For all the grief that Lovie catches, the Bears still have a pretty good defense, and I'm convinced that most criticism of Jay Cutler stems from the fact that he looks like a dick. I don't think it has anything to do with his ability; people just see the look on his face and presume that he can't play football and it leads to hilariously bad predictions. Also, where in the [expletive] [expletive] were people getting off thinking the Colts were going to shut down Brandon Marshall? Did they think Luck was going to get out and play corner? The only way someone could have possibly thought Indy wins that game is if Marshall is a non-factor. Or if they were female. I won 2 separate bets against female colts fans and I'm quite happy about their foolish optimism.

    I don't think it is that as much as it is the natural (or maybe learned) state of all football fans to hate a QB like Cutler. He doesn't fit the personality profile most want him to have, and he has had a tendency to turn the ball over at alarming rates. So fans of his team are not going to like him.

    10+++X10+++ Cutler would take heat in any market until he wins a super bowl in that market, and even in several of those markets he would continue to take heat after winning a super bowl.

    Which sucks, because the resident Pirates fan is infinitely more tolerable than about 86% of the Cubs fans here. He was until he added that signature. And it's always good for football season to come around to remind us how inherently awful Pittsburgh fans are in general.

    First of all, every team in the league has to call time outs on the road from time to time in the 1st and 3rd quarter. This is nothing unique to the Bears and I think you're letting the non-audible offense under Martz sway your opinion too much because it was done at an unusually high rate in 2010 and 2011. By pointing out that the Bears have had this problem at home games during the Lovie tenure, you're supporting his argument. I would wager that it was not any less of a problem pre-Lovie. If you want to show me some type of proof to the contrary, be my guest. Do I think it is catastrophic? No. But it does hurt the team and is preventable. The preventable part is why I think it is a topic and why it annoys Bernstein (and myself too). I'm not supporting the argument because it's not noise that forces timeouts. it's disorganization from the offensive unit. They have consistently wasted timeouts (much like Lovie in general badly mismanages challenges). They will call timeouts on 2nd and 8 from mid-field. It doesn't have to be the red zone. The fans cheering is not the problem. The Bears have a horrible offensive line and just this year finally put together some offensive weapons, all under a first time coordinator. There are going to be miscommunications and errors, noise or no noise.

    The rating doesn't tell you much. He didn't look his best out there, and probably could have been picked a couple more times.

    Yes certainly, Chicago is the only stadium that is loud when the home team has the ball. It's the fans fault how disorganized and sloppy they've been for so long. Makes lots of sense.

    Wasting timeouts in the redzone is no big deal? The Bears offense has been wasting timeouts in the red zone home and away in the Lovie era because they have been a poorly coached/organized/disciplined unit. The coaching staff obviously doesn't value time outs and doesn't mind using them in the 1st and 3rd quarter, so it's going to happen. Don't blame the fans for the Bears shortcomings.

    Bernstein is an idiot for making that a topic. Why? The fact that our dumbass fanbase can't get it in their head to shut up while we are on offense is a pretty big, frustrating, deal. It's not a big deal at all and it's really stupid that people waste time talking about it as some sort of issue.

    After yesterday I figured the line for this game would come in a little from a 6-8 point spread, and GB would then cover. It's 5 now. I love that they won week 1 and that GB lost a home game. But as it pertains to this game I hate it. The old way of thinking about the more desperate team having the advantage, plus GB being at home and Chicago still working out the kinks makes me think they should take this one.
