    The gap between Cabrera and Barney isn't that much when you have the former for 2 years and the latter for 4... I don't think everybody else is as obsessed with rating time under control as some sort of skill to compare players as people on this board. There's a clearly better player in that comparison.

    It always makes me wonder what certain coaches and talent scouts see in NCAA prospects because I remember being nothing but unimpressed with McIlroy in college Not that being a 3rd string guy bouncing around for a while counts for a lot, but I'd like someone that at least looked good/ at running an offense at SOME point It's the "winner" tag. People have decided McElroy "just wins games" and so he gets a roster spot over QB who might actually be good. Which "might actually be good" QB is missing out on a roster sport with the Jets?

    They finished +7, 8 teams with a worse record had a better run differential. Over their last 7 games they went 5-2 with a +18.

    @jprutherford: Steve Burton of @wbzsports in Boston is reporting that a deal to end the lockout could be announced soon. Burton is very tuned into Bruins.

    Almora could be quite good but should at the very least be not bad for a while. Soler could be significantly better but could be a massive bust. Vizcaino is an already been injured pitcher. I'd have to go with Almora on this if there's any value in being an average major leaguer.

    It seemed likely anyways. It's a shame he was having a down year before the injury Ryan Clady will surely be re-signed/tagged so we have to hope for Brandon Albert to hit free agency, I think. It's a flashback to the Williams draft. This OL did a good job yesterday as far as pass blocking but Forte had nothing to run thru. There biggest needs are OL/TE as mentioned. But maybe I'm too critical of Bears' playcallers but am I the only one who thinks dating back to Turner' 1st go-around that they have all been crap? I'm starting to question my own judgement. Maybe this is overly picky but I always hear people talk about "play calling", when in fact the problem is the actual offensive scheme. It's not as much about calling the right plays as it is designing the right plays in the first place. The SF game was a perfect example of a team that was properly coached and prepared with a scheme to take advantage of their own strengths and attack the opponents' weaknesses, while the Bears were running a high school attack. The entire plan seems to be just have Cutler get the ball to Marshall somehow and then either run right or left a lot.

    The team may not be any good but between all the new front office people and the announcers they should be able to convince us that they actually are good despite the record.

    Teams that try often times wind up trading away veterans during a season in which they are already out of it. But then at the end of the season the records reset so they are allowed to try and win again the next year. It was not a legitimate question.

    lol@ you thinking all is well and fine. Yes because the only 2 ways you can feel about the team is 'ahhh everything sucks, we will never win again, we need 22 new starters on this team' or 'everything is fine, we're going to win the super bowl' That is true, I'm pretty sure that is the only 2 ways he can feel about the team.

    They pointed out on Mike and Mike today that 3 of our losses have come to Aaron Rodgers, Colin Kapernick and Russell Wilson, all who can scramble and make plays with their feet. I guess less so Rodgers, but the other 2 definitely gave us fits running the ball. The frustrating thing about that is that we used to be really good against those kinds of QB's. I think those kinds of QB's is when we really miss the old Brian Urlacher. Yeah, those QBs never scared me when Urlacher was still alive. For some reason they were using Shea and Urlacher as inside 3-4 LBers yesterday and they were both equally worthless in stopping anything.

    I did not. Prior to the 3rd down play I said I'd be happy if they didn't turn it over. The FG was conservative but the way this team is playing they needed to take the points. It was the wrong call and it contributed to the loss. You have a horrible line and a RG who never played RG before. Wrong move.

    Really? He looks less and less impressive the more I see him. Did you see that pathetic attempted tackle on Golden Tate when he had him in his arms? That was a disgrace.

    I know for the misguided self flagellaters it doesn't make sense to add players who are better than anybody else you could possibly get but in the real world of sane people that is the goal.

    Go out and get Hamilton then No, thanks. Unless the entire market realizes this and he has to take far less than he is expected to get. Sign him up without question. No brainer for the Cubs in their situation.

    Fixed. I keep talking to some of my friends who are Packers fans, and they are starting to agree with me about this one. Had one of Jennings, Williams, or Woodson just swatted the ball, instead of trying for an interception, the ref wouldn't have had a chance to blow the call. They didn't NEED an interception there. Just swat the ball out of play and be done with it. Oh Tommy Jackson's ingenius advice, except when it doesn't work.

    This surprises me, since the non-tender candidates are: Shark (nope) Garza (not unless his arm fell off yesterday) Russell (nope) Stewart Valbuena I wouldn't think they'd non-tender both the 3B, would they? Especially after the decent season Valbuena put together. I can't imagine they would miss either or both of those guys if they were unable to resign them on minor league deals.
