  1. Damn, that Castro flyout would have been a homer on about any other day..
  2. He's probably better than Jacobson, but again, uninspiring. Please don't take Jacobson, he really has the UNI program in a good place.
  3. I'm not Hawkeye, but he's a very talented back. He ran for 500+ yards as a true freshman behind Shonn Greene in 2008, and was slated to be the starter in 2009 before blowing out one of his knees in preseason drills. He came into 2010 back at full strength and looked great in fall camp, then seemed to be hitting his stride before blowing out his other knee against Arizona. He's got good speed and quicks, and decent size. If he can stay healthy, he should do big things in the Gateway.
  4. Yeah, I went from wondering if we'd ever score to cautiously optimistic with an 8 point lead to that WTF feeling. I'm glad I was watching it from the DVR. I had second row seats for the game last night, and had a similar feeling. We just didn't have the size to establish anything in the post, and when the shots aren't falling, there was no way we could win that game, or stay in it for that matter.
  5. Possibly. It sounds like being dehydrated and then having excessive activity is a main cause. Being poorly hydrated right when coming back from break wouldn't be a surprise. Especially if they were taking some kind of supplement and not drinking extra water. Apparently, Doyle put them through some ridiculous workouts (100 reps at 50% max on bench and squat, then had them pushing sleds 100 yards at full speed) and they apparently were not properly hydrated.
  6. I have a really hard time seeing Ballard fall into the third. Talk had been about him maybe sneaking into the late 1st, after scouts see him run at pro days or the combine, someone is going to fall in love with his size and speed.
  7. can you explain your disdain for boise? The blue field. The hatred is completely irrational but they infuriate me, and I'm pretty sure it goes back to the Blue field. The Statue of Liberty play, the "America's Sweetheart" crap. The lack of any good teams on their schedule. The fact they can play one game a season and go to a BCS game. Yeah that is pretty irrational. I can't understand why anyone would dislike Boise State unless they were playing them. Weak schedule, blue turf, gimmick plays, plus a good friend of mine is an Idaho Alum. I think Boise is a really good team, but I just don't believe they would win near as many games if they had to get up week after week, instead of a couple times a year.
  8. Pac-10 still > WAC by a wide wide margin. OH REALLY Yes
  9. oregon barely beat cal, which got blown out by nevada. yet this game is evidence that boise is nowhere near the best team in the country. right. Oregon has to play more than 3 real teams this year though. that's nice. boise is #2 in the sagarin predictor. they're #4 in the sagarin ratings. they won "at" virginia tech, which is running the table in the acc. they've beaten major conference teams before. My issue is that Boise doesn't go through the ringer and get the [expletive] kicked out of them physically every week in conference like major conference teams though. Hopefully a moot point now though. yet some of you act like they should just go play in the corner. it's such a joke.

Oregon has to play more than 3 real teams this year though. They've played two bowl eligible teams this season. Congrats. Pac-10 still > WAC by a wide wide margin.

  12. Good Call
  13. I love Noah. Wtf Deng.
  14. Bulls making a run, down 3 (89-86).
  15. I was expecting to see Mack Brown or Urban Meyer. I believe ISU fans are making a somewhat organized effort to vote for Rhoads, because they really, really don't want Chizik to win.
  16. After last weekend, my liver is relieved that Iowa has a bye this week.
  17. I watched the first one and was pretty impressed. We're definitely not doing anything like that here at Mizzou. Didn't watch the KU one yet, but Iowa is doing something that sounds similar for recruits. http://gohawks.com/ edit: Not the same thing at all, but still cool.
  18. Question. Did he fumble this much while he played at Iowa? He only really played one year at Iowa full time (he was a back up the first couple of years an played mostly in garbage time) but I don't remember him fumbling often. ESPN said he didn't fumble but I don't know if they just don't keep that stats on that or if it's actually true but now he definitely has issues with it. what happened to albert young at iowa? he really looked like he was going to be a star there, and then tailed off his last two years. i'm just curious because he went to my high school. Albert came in and really impressed, then blew out his knee his freshman year. Then I believe he blew out the other one the next season. He went on to have a good career for the Hawks, but never seemed to regain the explosiveness he came in with. The guy had great hands out of the backfield though. I happy he's been able to stick with the Vikings over the past few years. After a quick search here are his career numbers at Iowa: 660 attempts for 3,173 yards and 23 touchdowns and 79 receptions for 705 yards and two touchdowns.

  20. BTW, he'll the one on the bike. It's amazing he was not hurt worse by that. Koeppel was battling James Ferentz for the starting center position, and it appeared they were neck and neck.
  21. I like what this could potentially do for Iowa's recruiting in KC and StL if Mizzou and KU both get left in the cold or move to the MWC.
  22. It's just because the Cubs like to trade valuable relievers to other teams for players who have very little value.
  23. Castro 0-2, but has a BB! He made a throw error though. So much for the whole Castro can't take a walk thing, I think that's 4 straight games.
  24. Starlin adds a double, just a HR short of the cycle now. 3/4 and a HBP. Tenn is scoring at will.
