  1. Along with a good change, and "plus" curve. I'll take it.
  2. I am loving this draft. It's going to be fun having some intriguing new pitchers to follow!!
  3. No way the Bears pick two Hawkeyes, though I'd love McNutt in the 4th. As much as I love Diesel, I'm not sure if I'm crazy about him in the 5th.
  4. I'm getting real excited about Rizzo and Baez.
  5. they stuck it in real good To top it all off, they still may get Blackmon, too. Such a good trade for the Rams.
  6. This is really fun, I had forgot what it is like when Iowa is semi-relevant in basketball.
  7. He's just making up for the the lovefest he gave Alford yesterday in his mailbag.
  8. He's just making up for the the lovefest he gave Alford yesterday in his mailbag.
  9. This team is damn tough when Basabe shows up and Gatens is hitting shots. That was really fun, I just wish Gatens would have gotten a chance to make it to the Dance in his career. He was just unconscious in the second half.
  10. Yorman excites me, though only because he was a big-time guy in the Int'l FA market a couple years back.
  11. I love how the first poster states that Profar, Olt, Perez, and Ramirez all untouchable. If that's so, I don't expect Theo to stay on the line very long. I know fans have a tendency to over-value their team's prospects, but a couple of those posters are delusional.
  12. If there's a legitimate argument for/evidence in support of a concept like this, I'd like to hear it. Not being a smart ass. It's possible that the thinking on this has changed from when I last gave it some thought and I'm open to hearing an argument. There isn't, and it takes more than one anyway. Even Pujols has Holliday...then a bunch of retreads and mediocre prospects who play up...possibly due to having those two in the middle. That seems to be a purely subjective argument. The only way I could see it making a difference would be to have Pujols hit behind Soriano, which may allow Soriano to see more fastballs. However, Soriano's inability to layoff breaking pitches down and away probably obviates this argument anyway. That said, adding an elite bat to a lineup would improve it by virtue of the addition of an elite bat. I just don't see how that would have much effect on the other players' performances in the lineup.
  13. It'd be cool if they brought someone like Brian Bannister onto the show. I know he was into sabermetrics, and tried to incorporate them into his pitching.
  14. You've been successful running the ball all game... Why stop when you're up 16 in the 4th Quarter?!
  15. Howie Kendrick, Chone Figgins, Delmon Young?
  16. Gammons just needs to hang it up.
  17. I'm really happy for these guys. My sister's father-in-law is a sports agent, and I was talking to him a couple weeks ago. He was telling me how huge it is for these minor league guys to get Sept. call-ups, due to the money. I had never really thought about it like that before, but a lot of these guys are making $1500-2000 per month in the minors, but the pro-rated major league minimum is about $60,000 per month. That is huge for guys that didn't get huge signing bonuses. That definitely changed my outlook on calling up guys who may never stick on the major league roster long-term. With that said, I think both Clevenger and Dolis will be able to have decent ML careers.
  18. Goldstein has never been too high on Castro, but at least he's accepted the fact that his bat is for real, finally. I still don't think Starlin needs to move off short any time in the near future.
  19. Baez - 1/4, SB Vogelbach - 0/3, BB
  20. I'm having a hard time figuring out why the Cubs would still be on the hook for the $5M if they traded him. It would make sense that the obligation would pass with the player, unless the Cubs agreed to pick it up as part of a trade.
  21. Can't wait to get off work to have a beer or twelve in celebration. Wish list for GM: 1) Friedman 2) Hahn 3) Cherington
  22. Maybe those short outings were actually a blessing in disguise and allowed the blisters to fully heal. A resurgence from McNutt to end the season would make the system look a lot better.
  23. It appears Candelario is alright after being taken out after 1 ab yesterday. He was 1-1 with 2 more walks in a 6 inning game today.
  24. The problem is that there may be no room to bump him up with Jones at Peoria, Bour at Daytona, Rebel at Tenn, and LeHair at Iowa. Each of those guys is doing pretty well at their respective levels.
