  1. I actually think this may be a somewhat sustainable way for Baez to get on base a little more. He was HBP 11 times last year in 321 PAs, and 8 times so far this year in 238 PAs. Some guys seem to have a knack for getting hit. However, in Javy's case, it may just be a result of him doing whatever the f*#% he wants. Let's just hope it doesn't lead to injuries..
  2. I was lukewarm on him over the winter, as I wanted to make sure last year's numbers weren't a fluke. I'm buying him now, though. He's shown good power and somewhat surprising patience, and he's doing it at 21 in AA. He's clearly in my top 10 now, probably 7 or 8.
  3. Awesome, thanks for the update.
  4. There are few things more enjoyable for an Iowa fan than watching Steve Alford lose. I love it.
  5. This is really ugly both ways.
  6. Dude, do you ever do anything other than complain (other than troll the Bulls thread)? May is incredibly athletic, not a great basketball player, but very athletic. Btw, Illinois is a bunch of godless chuckers.
  7. Also, given the tidbit posted by Raisin about Frandy de la Rosa, I wouldn't mind seeing him added. There is very little about him out there and he is really, really young, but he was our second highest Int. FA bonus last year (behind Paniagua, if you don't count the Cubans), and the reports I've read seem intriguing.
  8. I've got the same three.
  9. Cabrera Blackburn Loux Watkins was right there, too. I would have gone Wells rather than Loux, but I'm still concerned about his arm. I considered Whitenack, but I want more confirmation that his velocity is back before going ahead of any of those listed before.
  10. If anyone has a link to the stream, please PM me. Thanks.
  11. Well, that MSU-Iowa game was ugly (as expected), but damn its always feels great to beat Dantonio.
  12. I'm wondering if they'll get to be the worst 5-0 team ever. Than again, there isn't a game on their schedule that I assume is a sure win for them at this point. um don't know if you got the memo but steele jantz is good again. I'm just hoping the law of averages kicks in on Saturday to make up for him playing like [expletive] Superman against us last year..
  13. Chicago is about to turn into Iowa City East this weekend. Go Hawks!
  14. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=53784&start=1725#p2847697 Jim Callis chimed in on Saunders last week. It kind of sounds like he profiles as a Theriot type with questionable defense, plus speed, and a good hit tool.
  15. I can buy it, although ... I think I'm apt to rank both Underwood and Blackburn over Maples. I've just never been THAT excited about Maples, although it was awesome that we landed him. Here's my question to you - why the big gap from Villanueva to Alcantara? What is it about the 3rd baseman that you like more than the shortstop, by such a wide margin. It is mainly because I'm not sold that Alcantara's bat is real yet. If he continues to hit like he did this year at AA next year, then he will shoot up my list. Though, looking at his BR page, I guess his track record is a little better than I remembered, and I'd be comfortable putting him as high as 10. With Villanueva, at lot of it is SNT syndrome.
  16. I'll take a stab at it: 1. Javier Baez 2. Albert Almora 3. Jorge Soler 4. Arodys Vizcaino 5. Pierce Johnson 6. Christian Villanueva 7. Jeimer Candelario 8. Dan Vogelbach 9. Matt Szczur 10. Gioskar Amaya 11. Ronald Torreyes 12. Marco Hernandez 13. Dillon Maples 14. Duane Underwood 15. Paul Blackburn 16. Arismendy Alcantara 17. Junior Lake 18. Starling Peralta 19. Jose Rosario 20. Ben Wells
  17. Amaya with an oppo shot 2 run blast!
  18. Amaya just hit his 4th triple of the season (3rd this series). Marco with a sac fly to score Amaya.
  19. Dunston with a solo shot in 2nd.
  20. Marco Hernandez and Jeimer Candelario with back-to-back jacks in the first!!
  21. 4. Trey Lang, rhp, Gateway (Ariz.): Converted outfielder is still new to pitching but his loose arm pumps fastballs up to 94 mph, slider with potential http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/college/season-preview/2012/2612881.html
  22. lmao. Sucks to be Houston. They lose his slot amount if he doesn't sign right? That's really rough. Except that they can't sign him, as they didn't draft him. I have to think that the Pirates are going all out this year, and plan to take the penalties and punt next year.
