  1. Sheets on a one year deal opens a lot of doors for Hendry. The Cubs would still have all there trade pieces and not be tied into another long term contract for the new owner to worry about.
  2. My bet for Sheets is Atlanta. If there's any chance Sheets can be had on a one year deal it's a gamble worth taking. This isn't Prior/Wood all over again. The Cubs are a much deeper team than in previous years. Hendry gets to keep his best trade chips.
  3. He would have be a nice gamble for the back of the end of the pen , and to give Fukodome a friend.
  4. http://www.suntimes.com/news/transportation/1367463,CST-SPT-sign08.article dammit Jim , stop this and get to work on the Peavy deal.
  5. If VIzcaino pitches like he in his few good season , he will be a luxury to have for the 6-7 with Marmol and Gregg taking care of the rest. I would like the Cubs to take a look at a cheap signing of Rafeal Soranio , Saito, or Chad Cordero.
  6. Wasn't bako brought in on a mInor league deal? Hill might out hit him this spring and steal the job. Sure I would have rather had Greg Zaun but Paul Bako is the least of my worries.
  7. it wouldn't shock me to watch this process fall apart and the Cubs go back to Cuban.
  8. Maybe this has changed but isn't Pat the Bats contract with Tampa actually a little bit more when you factor in the no state income tax? I thought this came into play when the Marlins where free spenders before their first title.
  9. Hendry and Towers did nothing but talk for weeks about this deal. Hendry knows what Towers wants. Hendry generally keeps trade talks close to the vest. This time around there gonna be quite about it. Makes sense the good Bruce hasn't heard anything. Once Marquis is officially gone , and the new owner is in place. I am a firm believer that Peavy will be a Cub and those three pitchers we got for Derosa will play a role one way or another.
  10. When are we going to get some good news this off season? I hope by using the word "obtain" you mean acquire by trade because I really don't see any affordable starting pitchers that would be an upgrade over Marshall. It's not necessarily about being an upgrade over Marshall, it's about allowing him to be in the bullpen and back up Harden. Plus I think there are a couple options through FA that are better than Marshall. Besides Sheets and Lowe? The way that Hendry had to dump Marquis and DeRosa in order to afford Bradley, I don't think the Cubs will have enough money to sign either one. How do we know he didn't dump payroll so he could ass Bradley and a starting pitcher? Oliver Perez could come cheap and I don't think he would be a terrible option at a reasonable price. I know he's doesn't sound exciting, but if he comes cheap he'd allow us to use Marshall in the pen and as backup for Harden. Perez is not great, but he's been above average the past 2 season and would provide more depth that is needed. Again though, I'd only consider him if he was really cheap, which I think he will be. I don't know what dumping payroll has to do with assing Bradley but I do want to hear more. :P
  11. With the Bradley signing I could see the Cubs shipping Pie to the Orioles for Olson . They can hold onto Olson or choose to later flip him to the Padres in a Peavy deal. I can't see Hendry targeting any of the free agent pitchers left on the market. Randy Johnson was a guy I think the Cubs had some interest in because he had was a big enough upgrade over Jason and was only getting a one year deal. What starters are left on the free agent market that might take a one year deal?
  12. my dad passed on some info from what I presume was the score that Pappas won't be attending this years convention because the Cubs has asked him not to.
  13. I would think the Marquis trade will be announced soon along with the Bako signing.
  14. I think this deal will be announced today , along with the Marquis deal. These two deals have seemingly been done for a almost a week, Bradley was in the Cubs offices last week. I thought the delay was for the Holidays. I hope the new owner is in place by the convention , so hopefully Peavy will be done and we won't have to hear Hendry asked a thousand questions about Peavy ,which is the way it was last year with Roberts.
  15. Go figure Derwood you are the only person I have heard complain abut the anthem. I would have liked Wayne M to sing for sure but it's understandable it was the Hawks guy. I thought it was an amazing job , fireworks, F-18 fly over and the hawks guy has a set of pipes.
  16. The stretch turned out to be a great story at the classic and was well received by the media and fans . The Legends did a great job not sure the names on our list would have went over as well.
  17. Was Wieters drafted by the Cubs and then elected to go back to school?
  18. I don't mind Aurillia as a cheap back up for the infield with power. I would prefer Eric Hinske but he might get better offers from small market teams looking to make him a starter . Hinske was drafted by the Hendry regime getting back with the Cubs is not out of the question.
  19. I posted some photos taken at wrigley over the last week in baseball discussions no photos of Milton but they still add a little creditability to my story.
  20. My Camera skills are to thank for you being that good looking.
  21. http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=200832&l=c6b64&id=760080789 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=200828&l=46776&id=760080789 http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=200838&l=c83af&id=760080789 Sorry No Photos of Milton Bradley but he was at the Cubs office.
  22. Bradley was at wrigley field yesterday shortly after 11 a.m. I don't have anything other than that. He did not arrive with with anyone else. His reps could have came earlier or later. He came to wrigley yesterday via a car service and entered through the Cubs Adminstrative offices.
