    Exactly. Dunn is going to break some windows throughout the year between BP and HRS. Dunn is only 29 . He is a free agent for the first time in his career and is reportedly getting in shape. 3 years is the perfect length for a 29 year old. 36 year old Raul Ibanez just got a three year deal. Getting him away from the trade rumors and the pit that is Cincy as a whole could do wonders . Dunn in our lineup/half his games at Wrigley could hit 60 .

    Well, the whole point is that we wouldn't want a ton of ABs for Gathright. Thats not his value, his value is on the bases and playing defense. I said earlier that that shouldn't be a problem, but looking at our BP, I think it might be unless we make some trades. So, assuming Marshall isn't moved to the rotation, Shark goes to the Iowa rotation, and we didn't want to lose anyone (besides Hill), we'd have to have a 7 man pen. But, I have a feeling Wuertz (~$1.2M) or Gaudin ($2M) might be traded.     Johnson Fukodome Soranio Derosa Hoff FA/Trade left bat There's not going to be a ton of at-bats for Gathright or Pie. Why not trade Pie for something of more vaule than using him as pinch runner/DF replacement?

    Juan Pierre? Ronny Cedeno isn't a good defender, can't hit , and is an idiot on the basebaths. Sorry badnews but I'm not sure where you get your info or if you happen to watch Tampa and Kanasas games and saw a lot of Gathright firsthand because every scouting report has him as a great defender, weak arm, but he takes good routes and uses his speed. Peolpe made the mistake with Pierre and other fast guys that they where plus defenders but there routes and jumps where terrible, according to reports Gathright doesn't have those problems. I love that peolpe are so concerned about the 25th man, this is what is must be like for other teams coming off 97 win seasons it's still new to me.

    Young CF that plays defense with the best of them. Can run a ton and hit a little. Hasn't played much being a crowded Tampa outfield and injurys . The Cubs sign him to a one year deal worth 800k to be the 25th man everyone crys.

    Gathright is one of the best defenders in the game with his speed and jumping ability . He's struggled with Injurys and lack of playing time but had a good year in limited action in 07. At 800k for a fifth outfielder with his skill set this isn't a bad deal at all.

    Gathright can pick it up with the best of them in the outfield , he doesn't have Pie's power but he has some limited success in the majors in 2007.

    Sheets will get a three year deal from some team . It'll be a steal compared to what the Yankees gave Burnett/Sabathia.

    well at least we where way ahead of the mainstream media on the fact that Towers had no leverage, and Peavy had one preffered club. Sadly as the days pass here it looks like any chance at a deal is dwindling further.

    The Brewers have been talking to the yankees about Cameron and where told they needed to take Igawa from the Yankees also but balked about taking back the 4m. If the price is right Marquis should be a guy that interests the Mets.

    I've seen a few posts talking about Bradley's defense in right field, which is above average with an above average throwing arm, he's a downgrade from Fuku but he can pick it out there. The question is can he stay healthy and play RF for 120- plus games

    Jacques Jones problems will not affect Bradley signing with the Cubs. How many players come through wrigley ever year and have no issues with this problem element of wrigley fans? Exchanging words with a few ignorant fans only never helps. Hawkins could hear racial slurs from the pitchers mound? A cubs fan tried to punch Randy Myers in the face for sucking and he's white. 40,000 plus , mostly male , booze, 80 degrees anywhere in the world, your gonna hear slurs of some sort be it race,relgion,gender, social, it's a sad reality that isn't exclusive to just the bleachers at wrigley. Milton Bradley will be safe in right field.
