  1. It's not as backloaded as I expected to be. Does signing bonus count against this years payroll or is spread the length of the deal? I know it's been discussed.  :-k
  2. The Blue jays are going hard after Milton Bradley according to XM this morning. Read someone today that Furcals agent will be in Chicago meeting with Soto who he also represents no word on if Furcals agent will meet with Hendry . Furcal has said he will cut his list of teams down to 3 next couples days.
  3. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/82881-latest-jake-peavy-to-chicago-cubs-trade-rumbling How many blogs are gonna run with rumors coming from this site?
  4. Either way it will be nice to see another name off the free agent board to get free agency rolling.
  5. I think a Peavy trade leaves are farm pretty bare and with a win now additude hopefully the Cubs can add depth during free agency in areas because come deadline there isn't much to trade.
  6. If Dempster is signed I hope this doesn't remove the Cubs from the Peavy/Johnson talks .
  7. That deal makes a lot of sense from the White Sox side , there trying to shed payroll and get faster. Williams likes to get creative. Maybe he views Hart with his new cutter and closing down in Iowa last year as a replacment for Bobby Jenks. Dye ,Greene, Peavy , is a lot of money and no Left handed bats .
  8. I would hope that we wouldn't have to top an offer from a team like the Giants . Furcal has been reported to being very very close to being a Cub before the Dodgers came in with a huge offer. Furcal should be jumping at a chance to join the best offense in the league last season.
  9. Harden Zambrano Lilly Marquis Marshall or Peavy/Dempster/Lowe Harden Zambrano Lilly Johnson If the Cubs can danlge Marquis and replace him with Johnson why not? It's a one year gamble, a roll of the dice that will cost 5-8 millon. It won't saddle the Cubs new ownership with a long term deal that other starters of his caliber in this marketplace will get.
  10. I knew Cubs.com hated us but not these other blogs/forums.
  11. None of those qoutes from the Sully article are new those where all there yesterday right after Wren and the Braves pulled there offers from the table. The Cubs offer not even in the mix is all him .
  12. Fogg is terrible and will must likely only get a camp invite. I know all of the big unit's pitfalls but Josh Fogg?
  13. Cubsreporter.com looks like it has the same source's as Andy Dolan.
  14. If Peavy told DonnieD he wasn't going to the Braves , I would be pissed if I was Frank Wren who's been having talks with the Padres for over a month. Hendry would have to also know at the point via other players that Peavy won't waive his no trade clause unless it's to Chicago or LA .
  15. Who wouldn't?!?! I would take any of them over Johnson except for MAYBE Sheets. That's the only one he isn't better than, but Sheets is ALWAYS hurt, and signing him will take a multiple year deal (same with Perez and Lowe), while Johnson would only be for one year, and he would more then likely out perform them, since he did last season (aside from Sheets). Mil. got just under 200 IP from Sheets last year and even 160IP and 40 from Marshall will be better than most FA itchers. A team is going to have to take a conservative approach with Sheets as I'd like to see the Cubs take with Harden and that's similar to how you see teams handle Maddux, 90 pitches 6 IP whichever comes first and some rest throughout the year. Last year, he had 6 over 115 pitches and 19 over 100, someone with his injury history should be taken more cautiously to see if increased usage is part of the problem. We already have Zambrano coming off injury problems last year and Harden will needed to watched closely all season. Having a really good swing guy out of the pen and not skipping the 5th starter is must for next. Should the Cubs add Peavy he is also a guy that has pitched well with extra rest.
  16. If Peavy is serious about wanting to pitch for the Cubs then he can hold out , and force Towers hand to trade him to the Cubs. I think were almost pretty certain that Towers saying Peavy doesn't have to be dealt is all posturing on his part. The longers this drags out . Maybe Hendry can pull that big lefty outfield bat out of the free agent market soon or Furcal and make a bold statement to the rest of the national league.

  18. I don't want any part of Johnson unless he comes with another top starter.
  19. Talked about this in the Peavy thread as spec on my part now Rosenthal and the Tribune are reporting interest from the Cubs end.
  20. I bet Paul Sullivian runs with this tommorrow.
  21. depending on when rasin got his info from Donnie those reports of Peavy traveling back from PR wouldn't have hit the media.
  22. we need a DonnieD update and a Bruce update badly.
  23. please jim get a deal done tonight.
  24. Hendry could still be trying to get a third team to make a deal work.
