DLee hits Oswalt well so he'll be in the lineup tommorrow. Maybe Hoff gets the start in RIght field? If we had won today I would want Lieber starting tommorrow pushing everyone else back another day , nows the time to do it. Zambrano's "dead arm phase" can't linger long we need everything he and Harden have for OCT. Blanco hitting well of late and Hill hitting in Iowa give Lou some decent options to give Soto a much needed breather.
I wouldn't call it a career year considering it's right on par with the numbers he put up in 2003. Either way he's always been a left bat that hits for power and gets on base at a decent clip.
Huff's on pace for close to 50 doubles , over 30 homer runs, hitting 300, 350+ OBP and the guy hits from the left side of the plate while being serviceable at 3b,1B,RF. This would be quite a steal this late in the year for Hendry to nab him.
If I remember correctly Huff has a pretty strong arm from right field. That said he would be a great option for the bench since he can play third/first/right. Huff is insurance in case Jimmy Ballgame gets beat up ,Aram hip become's a problem, Fuko doesn't start hitting.
If they take Howry and Marquis and pay some of Sheffs contract next year I'll take the gamble. Drop a motivated Sheff into a this race and his bat will come back to life again.
The last two years Hoff has hit well in spring training, this year he's tearing up Iowa and the majors .What was his line last year in the minors? Could it be that the light finally went on for Hoff and he could be a late bloomer?
Lieber never really got a shot this year after having such a strong spring and being effective out of the bullpen. If he gets stretched out again in the minors I could see a team taking a shot at him for a month netting the Cubs another fringe prospect.
Not a bad time to get Theriot some more rest hopefully Lou will sit him tommorrow giving him two days off in a row. Same can be said for Soto and Marmol.
I'm worried that Kerry isn't ready but is frustrated and wants to get back on the mound. He's gonna need to throw some more on the side without that pad before he's ready.
If Hendry is targeting Giles maybe he can get Towers to take Marquis who could thrive in Petco as part of a package that returns Maddux for the stretch run and dumps Marquis's contract for next year.
To be honest, I'm glad Hendry doesn't listen to alot of people on this board and really, any board. If he did you good say goodbye to Derosa Dempster Theriot Edmonds Lilly
If Hendry and the Cubs are serious about going for it , I don't buy there not going to be active this week and the Cubs are one of the few teams where taking on Ramirez's salary for a rental might not be a problem.
