  1. I'm not that excited about Roberts being a Cub as I am to see what Hendrys other big move is.
  2. I like this the only thing that scares me is that means Dumpster will be the 5th starter!!!! so I dont know sherrill would make our pen even better but is worth making dempster a starter? I'm not that worried about Dempster starting , From all indications Lou says he'll get a look this spring training . He's no lock for the rotation. If the Cubs end dealing Marquis and Gallegher for Roberts , Dempster will still have his work cut out for him earning that fifth spot. Marshall and Hart could easily push Dempster from that role with a solid spring. I just don't see them sending us Sherill because his salary is so low, my bet is we end up with Payton/Millar/Bradford as part of the dump for them taking Marquis off are hands.
  3. That's pretty much what I was trying to say. If I was to rank the power 1st basemen (regardless of the steroids stuff) from the 1990's-early 00's...I'd go: Jeff Bagwell Mark McGwire Raffy Palmeiro Jim Thome Todd Helton Fred McGriff Jason Giambi Andres Galaraga I probably missed a few. From what we've seen so far from the Voters if your a juicer you aren't getting in or your gonna have to wait to get in. The top three fit that bill. Helton's numbers where inflated from Coors . Thome could play another 3 seasons and surpass 600 homers and finsh with over 2000 hits.
  4. Heard on ESPN RADIO that Juan Gone has signed a minor league deal with the Cards. He's gonna have a monster year.
  5. Thome and Thomas are locks to get in IMO.
  6. with all the worries to the Orioles roster space couldn't they just dump some one of Payton/Millar on us and call it a day.
  7. Oh is saying the Bedard trade will be announced on Monday and that the Cubs aren't the only players for Roberts.

  9. it doesn't end the speculation he didn't sign a long term deal there and Towers might decide to try and trade him now while his vaule is at it's highest. Not likely but you never know.

  11. I don't think the Orioles would announce anything to steal the spotlight away from the Super Bowl.
  12. Whoa whoa whoa, let's get one thing straight. Cedeno partied, no one's denying that. Farnsworth partied on an epic scale. I'm talking about having it get to the point where every bartender, waitress, and barfly in Wrigleyville had a crazy story about Farnsworth. Cedeno's nowhere near that point yet. Didn't say he was in Fanrsworth league , just the same style of partying around town that gets noticed quickly. I'm sure there's guys that party a ton but tend to do it quietly and come away unnoticed. http://tastybooze.com/2007/04/the-origin-of-boggs/
  13. there was some radio banter during Cedeno's first call up with the Cubs that was he was tearing up the town Farnsworths style.
  14. I'd rather just sign Lofton or Shannon Stewart than trade anything for Crisp.
  15. Sean Casey career line 301/366/450. Not bad for a bench player. Also if he see's any time at first base he's pretty darn good with the glove. He had 184 bad at-bats with Detroit in 06. Calling that A decline is a bit of a stretch. He had a 353 OBP last year. Casey has put up his numbers over the span of his career. Ward was good in 06 and great in 07. For the Red Sox having a guy that can play some defense in the late innings on get on base for the big bats is a plus for what might be the 25th man on there roster. Hendry signing Ward last offseason wasn't welcomed with open arms it was viewed as Hendry buying high again after a guy has one big season. Would I take Ward over Casey right now for what the Cubs need? No. But this was another shrewd signing by Theo.
  16. A healthy Prior is the one we saw in 2003, it's really too bad are Crack job of a med staff couldn't figure out there was something wrong with him till it was too late. I used to call his toughness in to question only to eat crow after they found all that damage.
  17. it's too early to excited about rumblings of a later than expected return. A healthy Prior andPeavy at the top of the Padres rotation scares me more than Santanta and what ever Pedro has left in the tank.
  18. did anyone miss Soranio's qoutes this offseason that says he'll basically hit anywhere in the lineup to help the team and that leading off wasn't that big a deal to him.
  19. I don't think Hendry would put his job online by not making any other improvements to this team if he didn't think this Roberts deal would get done , and he could make his other corresponding move.
  20. With the most recent rumbling being two players going back to Baltimore could it be Marmol and Gallegher for Roberts? Giving the Orioles a closer they think they need right now?
  21. Did he beat his wife? Does he like to party? Does he smoke pot? Is he in the Klan? No thats right he was taking money from organized crime. A credit check and some digging in the guys bank account would have showed up these problems. One NBA official takes money and let's start a witch hunt looking for anything by showing up bothering these guys friends and Neighbors. Totally uncalled for. Selig proves once again he's an idiot.
  22. Garwilly wants to go he just doesn't know it yet.
  23. There's isn't really much of a doubt in my mind that the OH forum insiders have sources. Has anyone from the Baltimore sun, Espn writers, Rosenthal, been right about any of these deals. I think there is a huge battle in the Orioles front office , it's just as bad as when they had two gm's for quite awhile. As we've seen tonight it looks like the teams dealing with Orioles have no idea what's going over there otherwise there's no way they tell Jones to pack his stuff and head to Baltimore only to hear MacPhail hours later tell the media there's no deal done yet.
