  1. No to Jay Payton. Yes to Kevin Millar. He can handle the corner outfield spots and first base. He bring the Cubs some needed Power from the right side of the plate off the bench , who can get on base at a decent clip.
  2. The fact that Cedeno was mentioned and not Murton makes me think, that if Roberts were to come to the Cubs, that Lou would make DeRosa the starting SS. While I would hope that would happen, I don't see it happening. Cubs management seems to think Theriot is the guy for the job at SS, and they have also made it sound as if they like DeRosa in a Super-Sub role. I think we have to take a lot of what Hendry and Lou worth a grain of salt. For them to give an indication that there going a different route at shortstop right now without Roberts in the fold yet would be foolish. Any interest in Alex Gonzalez from the Reds they have Keppinger waiting in the wings. Gonzo hit 16 homer runs last year in only 110 games. If his defense is as good as I remember he could provide the Cubs with 20 homer, 30 double power from short with plus defense . Roberts Fukodome Lee Ramirez Soranio Gonzalez Soto Pie If Hendry found a way to add some more bench help and another starter I would be more than happy with his offseason.
  3. Colon has been topping out at just over 90mph in his winter league starts. If he can continues to progress well , I would rather have him than Lieber on a one year deal. Cintron? no thanks. Anyone else have any interest in Kris Benson on a one year deal thats has more to do with his upside than Anna coming along.
  4. I'm not that upset about losing either of these guys to the Blackhawks , we might get a few new promotions this season. I want a sleepover event like other ballparks have.
  5. It's not even a debate anymore. Vista has to be one of the biggest software busts of all time.
  6. Didn't seem like there was a lot of action on this guy, I wonder if something the Scouts during his workout or the WBC that left a negative impression. 4 years at a little over 4 million total could be a steal for the White Sox. Low Gamble , High Reward.
  7. What do you have against prositutes? They're too expensive? Not in mexico. $6
  8. Herrera, 23, is a southpaw relief prospect. He barely registers 5-foot-7, 145 pounds. Tops out at 84mph but throws some kind of screwball to offset the weak heat. This trick helped him post an 11.0 K/9 in Double A this year. Sweet
  9. I would rather sign Orstuka for the bullpen or give an invite to BH Kim than So.
  10. I wonder if Hendry has any interest in Kevin Millar for a right handed power bat off the bench. Millar still can hit the long ball, get on base at a decent clip and can play a serviceable outfield.
  11. let's get this deal out the way, this way Hendry can turn his focous onto getting us a quality starter or finding a way to improve this offense even more.
  12. I would go high reward high risk with Colon then throw that kind of money at Silva.
  13. Am I the only one who thought a Roberts deal was right around the corner after Miggy got dealt to Houston? Maybe Hendry is going after Bedard / Roberts package and thats the hold up?
  14. Cubs selling wrigley for pocket change and how it could cost tax payers milions is the teaser Cubs might sell Wrigley to the State. "been talking for weeks" Wrigley will have to rebuilt in the next decade according to one anaylast. Not all bidders for the Cubs knew that these talks where on going behind closed doors.
  15. ESPN just metioned he was non tendered.
  16. I'd be suprized if we do a deal with the Orioles that doesn't include Cedeno.
  17. If Hendry would was thinking big Miggy would be joining Roberts in our infield not rotting away in Houston.
  18. A little good news late in the game.
  19. Murton really has value. I wish he would play here, but I get why they are dealing him. He'll likely be part of the package that lands Hendry Brian Roberts.
  20. I've been too almost every Prior game wort mentioning and it's gonna be sad to see him leave with the Cubs gettting nothing in return. All the time Prior was thrown under the bus for his injuries, now we find out the problem and find and we non tender him. We are a major market franchise non tendering a guy like Prior is mistake him returning is a gamble worth taking.
  21. I pray your wrong. Most projections I have seen for KFuk have him hitting 20 homers with 25 being the high end. DLee's power seemed to come back the second half of last year so hopefully he return to being a 30-35 homer threat. Also Dlee looks like he'll have a better lineup around than he's ever had in a cubs uniform.
  22. Wouldn't it be a great 48 hours if Hendry landed Fukodome and then found a taker for Marquis in less than 24 hours? Hendry then spins a package of players to get us Bedard/Roberts without giving up Hill. We would then only be a decent hitting shortstop from being the best offense in the league.
  23. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2007/12/12/2007-12-12_willie_randolph_says_mets_not_giving_up_.html?ref=rss Chavez is terrible I don't know how good of a defender he is but he isn't of much use with that bat and he makes close to 2 million. But at this point anything that saves of some coin and gets Jason or Dempster out of the rotation is a good thing.
