  1. Getting guys like Sanchez and Preston Clark to sign makes this a much deeper draft . The Cubs need all the help they can get in the postion player department for awhile.
  2. I think if Cedeno can have a strong enough spring he can push Theriot for a starting role. My hopes are that Hendry has his eyes on trades for Miggy/Green/Furcal/ or letting Derosa get a shot there if we land Roberts.
  3. FukoDome at 12.5 isn't gonna set the Cubs back as far as some had feared. I've caught a few reports pegging the Cubs payroll at 125 million. Bruce Levine earlier in the week reported they could push it to 135 million if they wanted to.
  4. I would only part with Hill if it was part of a bigger package than just Bedard. If were talking Bedard/Tejeda for Hill and Marquis. I'm fine with that.
  5. Between this and some of the crap Muskat writes Cubs.com is pretty pathetic.
  6. Hysterical
  7. BK was the pitcher in that clip giving up the homer and then drilling the next batter.
  8. http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com 1948 the cubs finished in last for the record. Hopefully this new marketing guy has some twists interesting promtions planned for this upcoming season and maybe some changes at this years Cubs convention?
  9. If it was an AL free agent starting pitcher I would guess Colon. My first two guesses for trade options are Burnett or Willis. Do we have the chips for a mega deal with Orioles for Bedard ? Mussina might have another good year in him pitching in the NL central.
  10. Everything I've read have Hendry only moving Pie if he's blown away with an offer. Greene is not that guy gets Hendry to dangle Pie. I am totally in the Greene for shortstop camp but he's not enough to get it done .
  11. Could this be real ?
  12. I am gonna say that was Dave Kaplan who laid out this plan on his show as Hendrys plan A. I can say this is the first time I have seen the Cubs linked to Blanton.
  13. Agreed completely with that. The Cardinals and Cubs have been back and forth to who has the highest payroll the last 8 years (right now the Cubs have pulled ahead and are looking to end that see-saw by widening the gap). The Astros have been close in a few of the years and well behind in the others. Everybody else is typically well behind those 3. In the years where the Cardinals had the payroll advantage though, they typically dominated the Central. If the Cubs are going to have a wide payroll advantage as they seem to want to do now, then they need to dominate the division as well. Even if we start the season with a $135 million dollar payroll I don't know if we'll be able to dominate the central because the Brewers have a good collection of young bats and are building around them this offseason.
  14. If Prior is able to come back next year and make 15-20 starts and look sharp wouldn't the cubs be able to snag a draft pick if they lose him?
  15. The Reds could always hit now they have a nice trio in Bedard,Harang,Arroyo to go with a very good closer. The central will be tougher this year.
  16. I'm not that excited about this guy as I am that Hendry can get agressive and move on to his next targets.
  17. I have a bad feeling Kenny Williams is gonna get in on these miggy/bedard trade talks and make a move when it's Hendry who should be looking at them not Roberts.
  18. I would rather have Damian Miller than Jason Kendall at this point.
  19. Hopefully Fukudome decides really fast. Depending on how much he costs it could help Hendry spin off Prior in deal for Khali Green or as part of package in a blockster for Tejeada/Roberts. I don't think Prior wants to be here Hendry doesn't have a choice . It's gonna suck when he returns to full form in 2009.
  20. If Hendry is willing to part with Pie if they net Fukodome , I see no reason why Hendry can't use the his extra payroll to go get Miggy/Roberts. Or if Hendry could find a taker for Marquis he could look into upgrading the rotation by offering a contract to a guy like Colon.
  21. Just got a little tidbit on the Radio about the Gagne trade and they mentioned that Torroes might retire. I am assuming the Brewers would then lose those prospects they dealt for nothing.
  22. Torroes, Riske,Turnbow,Gagne isn't a bad right side of the pen for the Brewers.
  23. Google Answers all http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4155/is_20051215/ai_n15949022 I totally forgot that Bradley and Baker had an actual meeting.
  24. I thought him and dusty where friends?
