  1. Bailey is going to be in AAA. He's 3rd on the young arms depth chart right now.
  2. Or does he? On Cueto: Defending Bailey: On Edinson Volquez: More on Cueto: And he's had abunch of positive things to say about Jay Bruce, Paul Janish, Adam Rosales, and Chris Dickerson. He certainly doesn't sound as bad as Cubs fan have made him out to be. We'll see what hapens come the time when we have to set our roster and when the games start counting. On a related note, all signs point to Johnny Cueto (20) and Edinson Volquez (24) finding their way in the rotation to start the season. I'm sure all I hear about now is how Dusty will kill their arms.
  3. When everybody is healthy, the Cubs lineup should be: 1. DeRosa 2B 2. Fukudome RF 3. Lee 1B 4. Ramirez 3B 5. Soriano LF 6. Soto C 7. Pie CF 8. Theriot SS Although that 7-8-9 has the potential to be a black hole.
  4. Who cares that Favre went 0-2 last year against the Bears? He also went to the NFC Championship game. If you wouldn't trade those two wins for a shot at a Super Bowl then you are on drugs.
  5. Dude don't you know anything about baseball. CFs hit leadoff unless there is a skinny, fast, black dude at another position (very rare). Gotta have a guy that can handle the bat (i.e. sac bunt, hit and run, makes productive outs) batting 2nd. Gotta give that fast dude a chance to run. Corner OF and IF are the 3-6 spots, and mostly interchangeable. C is 7th. SS is 8th. These are both defense-first positions, so the offense you get from them is a bonus. Defense wins championships and you gotta be strong up the middle. hahahaha that is good. Today's starting lineup: 1. Dickerson CF (right) 2. Hopper DH (handles bad, right) 3. Griffey RF (right) 4. Dunn LF (right) 5. Keppinger 3B (right) 6. Hatteberg 1B (right) 7. Valentin C (right) 8. Castro SS (right) 9. A. Phillips 2B That is scary. scary good.
  6. Those numbers are just awful. Awful, Awful, Awful. If he wins the starting CF spot then just wow. Btw, the CF position has hit leadoff every game this spring.
  7. We don't need Nefi.....we already have Juan Castro.
  8. Minor league deals for both. Yep, Dusty Baker is our manager.
  9. "No self-respecting southerner uses instant grits." My Cousin Vinny, FTW.
  10. I agree 100%. Nothing that went on occured on northside, so I'm not sure how it pertains to here. Don't agree too hard. You're not an innocent party in this either. I never said I didn't do anything wrong. I didn't bring it up, though.

  12. That didn't take long. any updates on vance's daughter? I'm guessing he's too spineless to do it on the open forum. I'm sorry, I think I did that once already Vance. Stay hot. I'd do it again, but I enjoy some of the posters on the board. Spineless......ouch. You make me so angry. grrrrr
  13. Nothing but Jeter had being spewed here. The play was in RF, so he really had nothing to do with the play. Running over to cut it off and flip it to home is probably the greatest heads up/hustle play in baseball history especially when you consider the situation. EDIT: Just look at the video, he comes out of nowhere. The stands catch against Boston is overrated, however "10 feet" is an exaggeration. He had very little room to stop. A good play, but not "great". If Derek Jeter made the play Juan Uribe did against the Astros, it'd be said to be one of the greatest plays in sports history. Uribe's catch has to be one of the most underrated plakys in baseball history.
  14. Ah yes, "maybe" signing one player to a one year deal is most definatley "making-over the roster."
  15. And Krivsky's much better? Krivsky has been fine other then "THE TRADEZ ZOMG!!!1111".This year will be his make or break year. For the record, Lofton=yes Patterson=no
  16. http://www.daytondailynews.com/o/con...incinnatireds/ http://frontier.cincinnati.com/blogs/redsinsider/2008/02/dusty-talks-to-lofton-patterson.asp I can't wait for the comments on the last paragraph.
  17. 4 years, 27 mil is a really good contract. I'm satisfied.
  18. Freel will have the edge over Hopper because of his contract. Bruce and Hopper will be in Louisville waiting for Griffey and Freel to hit the DL. So the Reds are going to only carry 4 outfielders? That's interesting. If Craig Wilson makes the team he can play some RF. I guess we'll find out. Yeah.....and Votto and Keppinger can both "play some" LF. I'll be stunned if Hopper doesn't make the team out of spring training. Stunned. The odds are better then Freel gets traded then Hopper doesn't make the team.

  20. If anyone with a low OBP is going to bat leadoff, it'll be Phillips. Which is a complete waste of every tool he posses other then speed, IMO. It would be similar to batting Soriano leadoff, except Phillips can actually hit other places.
  21. Freel will have the edge over Hopper because Freel can steal bases, which Dusty must have, and Dusty tends to make out lineups based on position. CF will be the leadoff spot and designated basestealer's position. Norris Hopper is a hands down better and smarter baserunner then Freel is. Freel is baseball [expletive].
  22. Now THAT would piss me off. They way Narron jerked Edwin around was crazy.
  23. This is something I'm interested in if I am the Reds. It's not like Bruce is a 25 year old rookie looking to finally bust into the majors, he is a 20 year old kid who could still use seasoning in AAA (evident by his 47 BB and 135 Ks in three levels in 2007). The Reds lack a leadoff hitter and are probably looking at Phillips or Votto hitting leadoff if opening day was tomorrow. A Lofton/Hopper platoon in CF would solve that problem. Kenny Lofton vs. RHP: Career: .304/.375/.440 (1955 AB) 2007: .313/.386/.452 Norris Hopper vs. LHP: Career: .386/.423/.492 (132 ABs) 2007: .351/.385/.441 (111 ABs) Yes, I am aware Hopper's sample size is very small, but it is still something I think it could fit very nicely and solve the CF competition and fill the leadoff hole. At worst case if the Reds are out of it in July, you deal Lofton to a contender and Bruce is brought up (if he hasn't been already due to injury). The only reason I would be heistant to do it is because I want to see Bruce get a chance to win the job in spring. I could care less about the Dusty connections. 1. Kenny Lofton/Norris Hopper CF 2. Joey Votto/Jeff Keppinger 1B 3. Ken Griffey Jr. RF 4. Brandon Phillips 2B 5. Adam Dunn LF 6. Edwin Encarnacion 3B 7. Alex Gonezalez SS 8. David Ross/Javier Valentin C would be the most likely lineup, though I would flop Dunn and Griffey.
