  1. my thoughts exactly. Lou doesn't want his first outing to be a high pressure one... well today was the perfect time for that. What if tomorrow is a close nail biter? He's already said he won't throw dempster against the mets again... now wood will go 4+ days without pitching. Good job there guys
  2. and I believe it was his first start with the Cubs this year.
  3. did lou forget that Kerry is in the bullpen, fresh and ready?! I have TiVo'd the last two games in hopes to catch Kerry pitching. I don't get many Cubs games down here since I live close to St. Louis... PUT HIM IN LOU! I wanna see the crowd go crazy! I'll be TICKED if I don't get to watch Kerry Wood enter the game and see the crowd go nuts and just... yeah... i can't put it into words.
  4. my goodness... that was ridiculous!
  5. my gameday audio is throwing up blank!
  6. Z must be too pumped up about Kerry being back too.
  7. on gameday, ball 4 to Green looked like a good strike... is gameday off again (as always)?
  8. Darwin Barney is pretty fun to watch! Leon Johnson is stinking fast, but like I said before, an IDIOT on the basepaths.

  10. What was he doing? Sleeping with a sharp stick? what he does in his personal life, behind closed doors, is none of our business. until he scratches his cornea whilst doing so! and holy crap... how did I not realize that Marshall is 6'7"?!
  11. FWIW, in Peoria he seemed to be throwing the ball a lot harder than what the gun had him at. His delivery did look smooth and I think it threw the batters off because they were constantly late on the fastball and extremely early on any off-speed stuff. However, it was against low-A hitters.
  12. and I also found this: "I move away from the mic to dodge a charged laser" http://www.encyclopediadramatica.com/images/thumb/8/82/IMMARAININMAHCHOCOLATE.gif/180px-IMMARAININMAHCHOCOLATE.gif
  13. Simply amazing. Almost as good as Shane... http://www.ifilm.com/profile/shane1Lucky/video/2776244?sublisting=videos&page=1
  14. While there have been many unattractive men to play major league baseball, this discussion begins and ends with Willie McGee. A while ago, some guys I work with and myself created a list of the ugliest people in each sport. Willie McGee was the #1 overall ugly athlete. That Sherrard dude from Duke was way up there too, but that's a different sport. edit... Don Mossi was up there too, I think he was our #2 baseball player.
  15. Salty is likely moving to 1B to replace Texiera. They don't want to wear his bat down by playing C everyday in the Texas heat. Because that Texas heat affected Pudge so much.
  16. I guess I should have commented on Blanco's performance in Friday's game too... I forgot about that. He wasn't impressive at all. On the throw down to 2nd base, he looked pretty uncomfortable, but the ball was on target. His bat looked awful. He popped everything up and nothing made it past the pitchers mound I believe. He also walked once and the Dragons must have thought that for some reason Rickey Henderson was on 1st because they tried picking him off 6 or 7 times.
  17. I did not... like I said, I felt like a school girl. I had about a million thoughts come to my mind at once and they all came out at the same time.
  18. Notes from Friday night's game: 1. Kerry Wood had some electric stuff. His fastball was hitting 93-94 with out any problems and with pretty good control. His breaking stuff seemed to be biting a little more than he was expecting, but people were swinging at it (granted, it's low-A ball). 1a. Other people have mentioned Wood's weight loss and I have to comment on it as well. I honestly didn't realize he was warming up about 10' in front of me until someone said, "Hey Kerry..." and then I looked closer and realized it was him. He looks almost scrawny... i don't know if that's a good thing or not. 2. Leon Johnson is fast, but an IDIOT on the basepaths. He got picked off standing about 2' from first base... catcher threw the ball to the pitcher who threw it to 1b and he was out without even moving. 3. I had a 1 on 1 talk with Jim Hendry who was at the game. I asked him when Griffey was coming to the Cubs and he just kinda chuckled and patted my back. He was extremely nice and easy to talk to, even though I felt like a junior high girl talking to their crush.
  19. ... I was in the on-deck circle when Hank hit the big one. ... It's a lot like fishing... ... You got one dude who doesn't do his job and the other dudes are wanting to do this dudes job...
  20. I say we just trade Kendall back to Oakland for 3-5 of their 1989 Starting Rotation. Then bring Soto up.
  21. Happened yesterday, Dunn is on a plane to St. Louis. How stupid of me... that's why he was in Lambert... not for a connecting flight, but because thats where the Cubs are. My face is still sore.
  22. Because a everyday player (if you can call Griffey that) that can help on a daily basis, not once every 5 days... OK, I'll play along. So you get Marshall for one of our starting five - who replaces him? Exactly, and it's not like we have a huge need for most of these players. We're doing quite well with what we have. I would love to make a big splashy move as much as the next guy, but not at the risk of screwing up what we have. I just don't see trading away one of our starters at this point. Maybe the Reds will throw in Jose Rijo or Tom Browning.
