  1. my first ever professional sports game: http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/2002/B06270CHN2002.htm I was surrounded by Reds fans, it was horrible.
  2. OOH. That is the grossest thing I've ever heard in my life!
  3. http://www.jms2k.com/junk/beltran_the_barber.jpg *fixed
  4. LOL...he might be better off trying to skip the ball home, the same method used when trying to skip rocks on a lake. As fast as he is, I think he should have just tried outrunning the guy home. I think he would have had a better chance.
  5. http://florida.marlins.mlb.com/index.jsp?c_id=fla if you watch "Marlins 9th inning Rally" you can see the laser beam of a throw.
  6. It was great. It wasn't even very deep, he had to run up on the ball quite a bit, grabbed it out of the dirt and whipped it on home. I'm pretty sure my 5 year old niece could have made a better throw.
  7. I apologize if this has already been covered, but did anybody witness Juan Pierre's AMAZING throw home from CF last night in an attempt to gun down a runner?
  8. You can go a long way towards 90+ wins just by beating up on the crap teams and playing 500 against the good ones. Especially in the NL where there's an abundance of crap, and not a lot of the goods. agreed. Back to the old saying, "beat the teams you should". Last year's team sucked at that. \ They were the worst team, they shouldn't have beaten anyone hahaha... I got a good chuckle out of that one!
  9. It was never even an option for him to be a Cub. The Cubs already had an agreement with the Reds that they would have our pick for cash. We had no clue who they wanted. They slipped us a piece of paper, we passed it on, that player went directly to the Reds.
  10. Bobby Cox usually only gets ejected very early in games. He likes to make sure the strike zone is set for his pitchers, so if the ump is calling a tight zone, he'll make an effort to complain even if he gets ejected. It's a pretty good strategy and has helped some amazing pitchers become even more amazing.
  11. because they aren't? really? because the standings say otherwise. unfortunately, the division winner is determined by the standings and not a position by position >/= contest. the brewers are going to have to completely collapse or suffer some serious injuries for them not to be in contention all season. I guess lucky for you and the Brewers, in my 24 years of being a fan of baseball, i've never seen a team completely collapse or suffer some serious injuries.
  12. who sunged it today?
  13. I think a better question is "What the heck is wrong with Zambrano?!"
  14. He's also trying to adjust to a new ball. The MLB balls are different than the ones used in Japan.
  15. I suffered through 2+ hours of ESPN broadcasting last night in hopes of seeing the plunking. I didn't see it. It's possible that they played it when I got up to vomit or something, but part of me thinks that if they showed that, it would tarnish the Yankees, and we know we can't have that!
  16. Don't knock too hard... he's already got the tendinitis in the shoulder, don't want to add to that!
  17. I saw that on the 10spot yesterday... good stuff.
  18. A couple songs off REM's "Monster" album would work: - King of Comedy - Bang and Blame - Circus Envy Pink Floyd: - Comfortably Numb - Money - Is there anybody out there? Bush: - Little Things (or lack there of) The Offspring: - Bad Habbit Hum: - Suicide Machine Those are just a few that I could think of
  19. Eh? That's un-American. Un-American and unfathomable. But true. Wendy's was a different deal. The guy who owned all of them around here stopped paying his taxes or something and they all shut down. The same guy owned the Wendy's up in Bloomington/Normal. And St. Louis might not have Dunkin Donuts, but they DO have Krispy Kreme
  20. War's over, man. Wormer dropped the big one. Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the goin' gets tough... the tough get goin'! Who's with me? Let's go! What happened to the Delta I used to know? Where's the spirit? Where's the guts, huh? "Ooh, we're afraid to go with you Bluto, we might get in trouble." Well just kiss my ass from now on! Not me! I'm not gonna take this. Wormer, he's a dead man! Marmalard, dead! Niedermeyer... LET'S DO IT!
  21. It's pretty hard to hide them when your ace only goes 5.1 innings. Rich Hill didnt pitch last night, he pitches tonight. Z is FAR FAR Far from being an Ace. An ace doesnt average less than 6 innings per start. Or walk 4 batters per game. But Z is the self-proclaimed ace of the staff. Even going into this season, we all agreed with that. I think that's what he was being sarcastic about.
  22. He's always done the drop-down and go side-arm thing, but had rarely done it for strikes. Now he seems to try to do it more often, and STILL can't do it for strikes.
  23. I believe Cabrera wants to be a 3rd Baseman though and not an outfielder...
  24. Yeah, he lacks the intangibles.
