  1. Captain Condom says, "Wrap that rascal!"
  2. the people I work with are complaining saying crap like "Waaaa... you don't know what it's like to deal with injuries! Waaaaaaaa" While the entire time the Cubs had to deal with injuries, they'd say, "go cry to your mommy!"
  3. think he's still got some lingering affects from the intra-scrotal hematoma?
  4. From the replay I saw of Pie's at bat, it looked like the ump had a wide strike zone. Batters should adjust to the zone over the course of the game, but since Pie came in as a pinch hitter and is young and trying to learn to be patient at the plate, I think he just didn't have the time to adjust to the "new" zone. I can see the other side of a possible argument to that thought though, that he should have been watching the game and listening to the other hitters talk about the wide strike zone. I dunno... I didn't play ball after my freshman year of HS and that was like 14 years ago. I'm kind of out of the loop. What do y'all think? edit: What do y'all think about my 2 different thoughts... not about me being out of the loop. :-)
  5. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseball/cubs/cs-070612cubsgamer,1,2440002.story?coll=cs-home-headlines Thanks for the link. Lock the thread if need-be!
  6. I don't think anything in baseball angers me as much as not scoring a run with the bases loaded and no outs (and nobody hitting into a double play).
  7. I apologize if this was talked about in the Games thread, but I was not about to sift through 138(!) pages. Was there an argument between Rich and Michael during the game? I heard someone say something about it, but I live near St. Louis and we don't get comcast on our basic cable package... so I don't get to see but 5-6 games/year on WGN (since most of them that wgn does broadcast are day games whilst i'm at work)... Anywho... if this is true, what is michael's problem!?
  8. take away the battle armor he wears on his elbow (which forces him to step away from the plate and not get hit so many times) and I think his hits go way down. no to first ballot.
  9. Well, that's about the most popular reason to hit a guy, behind hitting a guy because they hit one of yours. Actually, I don't think it was the 3 HR's that made them want to hit Soriano, it was him trying to stretch a single into a double with a significant lead. Although, anyone who regularly watches Cubs baseball should know that even a 6-7 run lead isn't a big enough one to be comfortable with knowing our bullpen.
  10. I noticed that as well. I was watching the game with a Cardinals fan and even he was going crazy over the blown call. And when you go back and look at that picture, Renteria is grabbing Fontenot's glove with his right hand, and hacking his throat with his "injured" left hand. If you watch the replay, when Renteria pops off 2nd base, he's still holding onto Fontenot's mitt. How is what Renteria did at 2nd base any different than when Robert Fick hacked at Eric Karros in '03, or when A-Rod hacked at whoever was at 1st for the Red Sox a few years ago? Neither got a suspension, but were penalized heavily if I recall correctly. The braves issued a team suspension, i believe, to Fick. Either way, there should be a fine coming.
  11. His poop is used as currency in Argentina!
  12. how about we add Jones and Barret and they add Sizemore and Victor Martinez? And yeah, I'd like to know some more about this Adam Miller guy. The Indians are my "AL Team" (since they used to suck as bad as the cubs) so I wouldn't mind dealing Z to them. Plus, it'd keep him out of the NL (mets) hands for at least a short while. The problem with trading Z to a team like Cleveland is that they probably wouldn't be able to give him an extension, so he'd hit the free market and redoubtably end up with the mets.
  13. according to the recap on cubs.com, zambrano threw a change-up to Fielder that clocked in at 42mph? Any confirmation on that actually happening?
  14. isn't ward hitting .167 as a pinchitter? Yes, but with a .400 OBP. Ward is one of the few people on the team that actually knows his place and is willing to do whatever is best for the team... be it a stint on the DL, or what have you...
  15. somewhere Omar Vizquel is laughing...
  16. I actually had a bizarre dream the other night that the Cubs traded DLee and a minor leaguer (didn't know who it was, but they were a strong armed closer potential) to the Red Sox for Papelbon and a PBTNL. Then they traded Z and Jones to Texas for Texeria. I was ticked to lose DLee, but glad to get rid of Z and pick up Paplebon and Tex.
  17. I guess it gives a new meaning to the thread title... She's a stripper. Odds are it's not very apropos. touchè
  18. I guess it gives a new meaning to the thread title...
  19. I understand that Molina is going to be the Cardinals long-term catcher, but do the cardinals not have anybody better in the minors than Esposito? I don't know how he is defensively, but I think he swings one of those yellow whiffle ball bats.
  20. Point taken. if it were your dad that died in that car accident, and that car accident were caused by the other driver, I bet your mom wouldn't feel a lawsuit was an abuse of the judicial system. I bet your mom would not only be distraught over losing a person she loved, but she would also be wondering how she is going to keep her house, her car, and you and your siblings fed now that she no longer has your dad's income to help raise the family. I think this post really shows how you are looking at these issues with blinders on and as the other person said, imposing your values onto everyone else. I think it also shows just how out of step you are with mainstream society on many of these issues. I suggest you stop talking about my family no, you brought them up. I suggest you stop baselessly attacking something you know nothing about and using your families tragedy to do so if you don't want your family brought into this. and He brought up a situation involving his family that pertained to his view point. That's his place to talk about, not ours.
  21. I would be happy if we traded Jones for a wade boggs card and a bowl of rice pilaf.
  22. Man... I get no love for finding out where Jesus is playing...
  23. Yeah, but Rolen still leads the league in RBIw/G for infielders.
  24. He pitches for the Yankees right now... http://planetavp.com/alienlovespredator/strips/strip_097.jpg http://planetavp.com/alienlovespredator/strips/strip_008.jpg
