  1. The primary cost is the server. I sized the server back in the day when there was more traffic and in order to handle surges as I'm anticipating tonight. It was way oversized for the past few years, but I'm hoping that the capacity will be needed as we move forward. It is $250/month for that cost. So assuming the donation bar is in dollars, is that plus advertising enough to cover the full cost, or are you still paying out of pocket? Considering how much this site occupies my time at work, I would gladly consider donating more if its needed.
  2. Out of curiosity, how much does it cost to run this site per year?
  3. If Fuller proves to be inadequate at corner, I wonder if there will be any thought to trying him out at FS, given the lack of future (and, well, current) options there. I thought I recalled some talk around the draft that he might profile well as a safety considering his ball hawking skills.
  4. Wait, i can do better. Nailed it.
  5. David and his robot buddies. But in all seriousness, I had both those first two, and Im pretty sure I can still sing the MyPal2 commercial song to this day.
  6. I think Bumgarner is doing it this year too. .231/.270/.363 (pitching against) vs .245/.273/.491 (batting)
  7. So should we be expecting a fitted hat giveaway day any time soon?
  8. I had shin splints in 8th grade and they were gone in a couple days but looking at shin splints in elite level athletes, people who run for a living, it is not abnormal for it to last a couple months. Normal human activities and NFL level route running are not the same thing. To be fair my situation occurred as a high school track and field athlete, not just normal human activities, but your point still stands.
  9. Gotta be a stress fracture, right? Edit: Not that he currently still has a stress fracture, but that it was originally a stress fracture that he is on the backside of. Ive had both shin splints and a stress fracture in my shins, and only one of those kept me from activities for 2 months.
  10. This is probably like picking between Wood and Prior was back in the day. Or picking a winner between King Kong and Godzilla. Thank you, was having trouble figuring it out.
  11. I want to stop getting mad at things like this, but every time this happens, I have to suppress the urge to throw things. Rationally, I understand a good chunk of their success comes from a good business model and a well run organization. But the luck that seems to permeate that organization defies explanation. Just gotta keep hoping the hacking thing winds up screwing them in the long run.
  12. David Aardsma?!? Man, i feel like it was so long ago the cubs had him
  13. Aroldis Chapman really hates Brian Dozier.
  14. Bryant is considered an 8 seed vs a 1 seed Pujols. Rizzo a 6 seed vs a 3 seed Donaldson. Yeah its just seeded based on how many home runs they have hit this season, which is why Bryant is 8. I still got my money on Bryant, despite Pujols' 26 homers (which i had no idea he had hit so many this year).
  15. Bryant is winning that matchup.
  16. Thank you. I needed this reminder. I reached a dark place last night where I didnt think anything unlucky would ever happen to the Cardinals again.
  17. You could not be more wrong on this. The consequences might be different, but barging into an online forum without understanding how things work there is still not a good way to make friends.
  18. its not that i hate it here... more the opposite people hate me here lol My suggestion to you would be to cut back on the amount of posts for the next couple months, take a step back, and observe the general tone of the board. This will give you a better idea of what constitutes a good post or not. Think of it like being a AAAA player that shuttles between Iowa and Chicago. You can be our Matt Sczcur. And for September call ups, you will be ready to give a positive contribution.
  19. Then someone needs to make a sticky thread that all people see from jumpstreet! Somehow I have a feeling that wont make a difference. Most people probably dont realize their posts suck until they are specifically told. As a hypothetical, if such a sticky thread existed, do you think that upon seeing that sticky people will all of a sudden start posting better content, or they would just see it and never post at all? probably a lot of people would not post. And therein lies the rub. We want more posters, but we want quality posters. If we discouraged people from posting from the get go, then we might lose out on some of those quality posters. For the record, I dont have a problem with most of the things that have been posted here recently. Its not always possible to figure out what is going to foster a good discussion or not, so I think some volume is good for the site. Hell, some of the best threads have probably started out as pure garbage. The real problem, as has been pointed out by some other posters, is that some of you people are just too damn negative. Its ok to be pissed when something bad happens, or start a new thread about troubling patterns with player stats, but the freaking out from a 1st inning single is just a little too much for me.

  21. Just think before you post. Deadspin used to have two rules for posting, " Be funny. Dont be unfunny." Same idea applies here. Post meaningful content that will encourage discussion. Dont post meaningless crap. So before you hit post, go back, re-read what you wrote, and make sure its worthwhile. And that is not to single you out specifically, but applies to all posters, new and old.
