  1. Wow. What's the reasoning? Likelihood? They could get away with it, since they have established rivalries, but that would be interesting. I dunno. Likelihood: probably minimal. Well their biggest established rivalry prior to the mid 90s was Arkansas and they had no problems cutting that one off to get into the Big XII.
  2. Independent apparently. The SEC would open the Longhorns with open arms and the Pac 10 inquired awhile ago. They could go independent in football and enter Conference USA in all other sports and not miss a beat. Texas' key sports are basketball and baseball (other than football). There's not a huge dropoff in basketball to CUSA (i think). CUSA is a better baseball conference than the Big XII, and it is not even close.
  3. guys point differential isn't all of a sudden important...
  4. Dodds has inquired about leaving the Big XII, at least that's the word 'round here.
  5. He does. He's a hgue Oklahoma Sooner fan. He never even went to college either. That formula's a joke.
  6. Wow, the Billingsley computers a frickin joke.
  7. yeah i'm pretty sure that isn't allowed. It's not that hard to not show up.
  8. The real answer here is Gary Pinkel doing the honorable thing and saying that because his team lost to Texas and embarrassed themselves by losing to Kansas that they will give Texas their spot in the Big XII title game. The Big XII and SEC title games are our national semifinals and winners move on. Everyone wins. Sorry TT.
  9. i really think that the "texas got screwed" sentiment got it for mccoy and i'll take your bet on florida winning and not getting in, by the way. i just can't figure out how that would happen Well Florida's what fifth in the computers? The problem is that the computers use a relatively discrete formula in the BCS poll. The pollsters component is relatively continuous. Florida will be #1 in the Coaches and #2 in the Harris. Texas will probably be #3 in both, but if you actually do what the BCS formula does to those. Really for all practical purposes Florida, Texas and Oklahoma will be tied for 2nd in the polls so it will come down to the computers. Period.
  10. Texas-OU rematch for the title? That would go over well in SEC country I'm sure. lol It has precedent. USC anyone?
  11. Bradford won the heisman today guys.
  12. I bet they would. It'll be close. They have a lot of room to make up in the computers to catch the Longhorns, and Alabama isn't liked all that much by the computers. FWIW: The SEC has a BCSish tiebreaker system like the Big XII. Yay or nay for it: 'if the top two teams are within five spots of each other in the BCS standings, "the head-to-head results of the top two ranked tied teams shall determine the [title game] representative."'
  13. Dude, Alabama is NOT going to beat Florida. They just aren't. Sarah Jessica Parker Wilson is going to be crying to his girlfriends by halftime i still maintain that if florida beats alabama (when they beat alabama) redflash can't post until opening day. same goes for meph if florida loses +1 Best of luck to OU next week. Should you lose it won't hurt my feelings at all :-). Its hard to argue against everything knowing how good that offense is, but sucks knowing Texas won head to head and lost on the final play of the game. Oh well, next year's team was supposed to be the title run team. I did want to see the Texas run defense against the Gators though. FWIW: Florida's great rushing attack starts with Tebow. Demps, Rainey and company average gobs of yards because of the stretch option Florida loves. Lately though, Demps and Rainey have actually gained a majority of their yards in between the tackles. Still Texas' run defense isn't built for left and right movement as much as downhill movement. It's similar to Alabama's in that way. With Mt Cody, though, Alabama's is almost only built for the interior rushing game. Look for the Gators to have a lot of success with the perimeter rushing game next week. Also look, however, for Alabama to force two interceptions and pressure Tim Tebow all night long keeping the offense relatively mortal. I am going to make a (not so) bold prediction. Tim Tebow will have as many interceptions next weekend as he did during the entire regular season.
  14. Wait, RedFlash is saying Alabama will win because Alabama did well in SEC Title games against the Gators in the 1990s....when the players on both teams weren't even 10 years old? C'mon.
  15. If Florida beats Alabama, they're going to be #1 in the Harris and AP Polls. They will be number one or two in the Coaches Poll. They will not, however, be in the BCS title game.
  16. AP Poll: 1. Alabama (62) 2. Florida (3) 3. Texas 4. Oklahoma 5. USC 6. Penn State 7. Utah 8. Texas Tech 9. Boise State 10. Ohio State 11. TCU 12. Ball State 13. Cincinnati 14. Oklahoma State 15. Georgia Tech 16. Oregon 17. Georgia 18. Boston College 19. Missouri 20. BYU 21. Michigan State 22. Mississippi 23. Pittsburgh 24. Northwestern 25. Oregon State There's a significant difference between Texas and Florida. There is an 8 point difference between Texas and Oklahoma, although in the greater scheme of things, the AP poll is irrelevant this week.
  17. Oh Jesus.... ONE POINT separated Texas from Oklahoma in the Coaches Poll....and Texas slid ahead of Florida. 1. 1520 Alabama (57) 2. 1396 Oklahoma (2) 3. 1395 Texas 4. 1384 Florida (1) 5. USC 6. Penn State 7. Utah 8. Texas Tech (1) 9. Boise State 10. Ohio State 11. TCU 12. Cincinnati 13. Ball State 14. Oregon 15. Oklahoma State 16. Georgia Tech 17. Missouri 18. Brigham Young 19. Georgia 20. Boston College 21. Michigan State 22. Northwestern 23. Pittsburgh 24. Oregon State 25. Mississippi BTW...in the BCS the human polls component is taken by points/possible points...so for all intents and purposes...there is a three way tie for second between UF, UT and OU in the Coaches Poll. This isn't going to end well. Just 12 points separate Florida and Oklahoma...and yes someone gave Texas Tech a first place vote. I cannot wait to see which coaches voted which way. Remember...Stoops doesn't have a vote. Leach and Mack Brown do.
  18. I know it's Miss State, but Ole Miss 'held' them to -51 yards rushing yesterday. That's -51. Obviously when you have 11 sacks, that's a lot of lost ground, but jesus. Miss State only had 37 yards of total offense.
  19. FWIW: Oklahoma moved ahead of Texas and Texas Tech into the #1 computer ranking in the sagarin BCS.
  20. Tebow is what 6'3" or 6'4"? He's big, but he's not fat. http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/9063/tt19gp.jpg
  21. Anyways the OU passing game isnt very complicated. It's been running a bunch of patterns that end up where the DBs aren't and letting Bradford throw to them in fifteen yard windows. the actual routes aren't complicated, but whose are? it's not like anyone has WRs putting quintuple moves on anyone I was kidding. You can describe any good passing game in college football in the way that I did.
