  1. No. I'm pretty sure ESPN lists the times for when their coverage starts, not when the game starts. They had a 12:30 central start for this even though it started at 1 central.
  2. Dempsey was not going to be denied a shot on that one. Great effort.
  3. Still weak on the counter attacks, though. Jay risked everything, though it might have been an easy goal had he not gone for the tackle.
  4. Altidore finally making his presence known. What a beautiful move.
  5. Sure wish we had that game back against the Czech Republic. They look like they haven't played with each other in about 3 months.
  6. What a sloppy first 3 minutes.
  7. While I'm at it, here's a nice article about over-signing (really student athlete retention). Nice going, SEC.
  8. Wait, so other schools take BYU online courses to be eligible for other universities? How does that work? I assume they're done by current student athletes for "summer school," but apparently they've been abused by future student athletes before entering college.
  9. The NCAA has banned the use of BYU online courses for student athletes. There could be some interesting implications while programs adjust.
  10. Nice header by McBride to equalize in the 40th minute. Banner, on the other hand, hasn't had a sparkling last 10 minutes.
  11. Can the average February day in New Jersey really be classified as "bad weather?"
  12. Gomez seems to be off to a nice start in the 2nd half.
  13. John Terry could miss the World Cup:
  14. I'm not sure why people just assume it's only Wrigley's charm that gets people to Cubs games. It's also incredibly convenient to get to for a very large number of people. Jump on a bus or train, grab some food, hit a bar, go to a night game. If there's one thing people in the city would love it's giving up an easy trip to Wrigley after work in order to spend 2 hours making their way to Schaumburg.
  15. And Brust picks Wisconsin...
  16. This much is very true. They'd stand to make quite a bit more money. Also, I can't find it, but I saw an article that showed the research agreement within B10 schools amounted to way more $ to each school than even OSU's athletic revenue stream. I want to say it was in the neighborhood of $300 mil... per school. Texas would stand to gain additional revenue from that stream also. I don't recall seeing that article, but I'd have to believe the administration at Texas would love to join the CIC (Big Ten plus University of Chicago). Notre Dame didn't want to join them, but I can't imagine the faculty at Texas would be anything other than giddy at the opportunity. This could be their best chance to improve their academic and research status for a long time.
  17. Total revenue is a very different thing than conference revenue sharing, most of which comes from TV deals. Texas wouldn't be replacing all of their revenue sources. They'd be swapping the small percentage they get from television and replacing it with more money from Big Ten revenue sharing. The bottom line is that Texas would make more money in the Big Ten. And it would have a very significant impact on academics.
  18. I would think $80 is a lot to drop just to be ironic.
  19. Losing Johnathan Loyd to Oregon hurts.
  20. That's pretty much all there is to it.
  21. I remember the last time I gave the series a second thought. I think it was 1999. Then again, I also watched BBTN back then and Sosa hadn't been run out of town yet. Speaking of 1999, can you imagine how many Morandini jersey t-shirts they could have sold back then?
  22. It's not relevant. I believe it means terrace reserve instead of terrace box, which you already know based on the row number. Though I seem to recall a -3, as well.
  23. My favorite art theory major modeling the throwbacks: http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/04/roach-models-the-bears-throwback-unis.html
  24. One more note on Wootton. Current defensive line coach Eric Washington came to the Bears from Northwestern where he was Wootton's defensive line coach.
  25. A few things on Wootton -Corey said he likely would have left for the NFL had he not torn his ACL in the Alamo Bowl a year and half ago. He would have been a 2nd round pick at worst. -He was nowhere near 100% during his senior season last year. He came back too soon and was also hampered by an ankle injury in the middle of the season. He probably finished his career at Northwestern in Tampa at 70% or so. He's much healthier right now. -It took him a while to even start to grow into his frame. He got a medical hardship waiver his freshman year after injuring his neck. He wasn't able to do much physical activity. He'll still be able to bulk up a bit. -I think he has a good chance of having far more of an impact on the pro level than he did in college if he stays healthy. -99% of Northwestern fans still don't know how to spell his name.
