  1. Well, there's no way Chip Brown was right about Texas having no contact with the Big Ten. That's just not possible. PBC has provided a lot more dimension to it and hasn't really said what "will" happen. He's just laid out the plan but still gave the caveat that negotiations could always fall apart. I'm not saying that I believe the expected outcome that PBC has talked about, but I also don't buy the simple, cut and dry plan that Chip Brown has been reporting.
  2. Not quite. Substitute Texas Tech for A&M and your statement is accurate. Yeah, screwed that up. Nebraska is going to get a smaller share of the pie at first, but not less than what they're currently getting now. But it sounds like they want to get things going academically immediately.
  3. Chip Brown says Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State to the Pac-10 after a Texas regents meeting next Tuesday.
  4. So is the thinking that they continually want the non-ND number to be odd to leave the spot for them? And Snood, I think you're confusing people who actually belong to the university with politicians. No one with authority to speak for Mizzou has said anything besides "we're happy to be a part of the Big 12". It could be that it's either Texas, Texas A&M, Missouri, and Notre Dame to make it 16 or Texas and Notre Dame to make it 14. But I'm not sure the even number is a must. That's not very clear. There's certainly a geographical aspect to it where if they don't land Texas, they're going to be expanding east, most likely, even though Missouri isn't much of a stretch in the current setup.
  5. He's the guy who has claimed he's getting his info straight from someone inside the Big Ten office. The summary I posted earlier in the spoiler tags is based entirely on this guy's reports. I'll check again with my sources, but I would be absolutely shocked if A&M ended up in the Big 10 after what I've heard recently. The report makes it seem like it's 50/50 as to what A&M will do. The invitation along with Texas is there for A&M. But either way, according to him, Texas would end up in the Big Ten.

  8. It was rumored earlier that it would only take Texas for Missouri to get the invite. Interesting strategy overall with the Big East if it plays out this way. But considering their situation and lack of leverage, they're in a win/win. Either Notre Dame goes all in or they push Notre Dame to the Big Ten and not get raided. I wish Texas A&M would hurry up. I can't take much more of this.
  9. Really hard to say. There's 4 big scenarios: Texas and Notre Dame join the Big Ten, Texas joins, Notre Dame joins, or neither join. One of the problems for the "secondary" targets like Missouri is that the Texas and Notre Dame decisions aren't going to happen at the same time, most likely. So there are different ways each of those big scenarios can play out.

  11. Exciting even having to listen online (no espn3 access at work).
  12. OB is a mouthpiece for the texas AD. Don't believe anything they say about A&M. The horns are worried about us going to the SEC so they are threatening to stop playing us in all sports if we go there. They're nothing more than bullies and we are about to call their bluff. Oh, I'm 70% certain that Texas is primarily using him for negotiating leverage and saving face politically.. He's just one of the few people actually saying anything at this point. Here's a Penn State fan's interpretation of it, which I think is quite plausible:
  13. OrangeBloods.com is apparently reporting a "stalemate" between Texas and Texas A&M due to some in-fighting at A&M.

  15. That would be awful. He finally matches how I picture he should look.
  16. I don't think that's a determination that can be made at this point. The difference could very well be significant, particularly if the new alignments bring two or more divisions closer together on their outlook of the future of the BCS. I don't think it's a linear effect. divisions? I don't think I follow. The major players don't change and ND, like it or not, is a major player. I meant conferences. There potential difference comes from having the major conferences now aligned in their goals. There's a greater chance that they'll be able to come to agreement on the future of the BCS and not have to fight as hard to protect their own interests. The players are the same, but the simple reduction in number of conferences means there's potentially less fighting and more back-scratching.
  17. I doubt anything has been informally agreed upon since I'd assume the negotiations are pretty tense and could tip things one way or the other at any moment. And what's so entertaining is that everything is unfolding right now. It's all reaction without much time to deliberate.
  18. I don't know who Kent Sterling is, but I like his name: I'm getting pretty damn excited right now.
