  1. Did that in the first go round too. That's the game Hummel had 29 in the first half. Not confident in this game even though we are up double-digits. Well you're in luck with Hummel being scoreless and not playing due to foul trouble.
  2. Purdue is taking it to Ohio State in Columbus through the first half.
  3. Maybe I'm missing something, but why would Mississippi State wear black at home when their alternating crimson and white sections make it seem like half of the place is pulling for Kentucky?
  4. Damnit. Sounds like a hell of a match going on. 3-2 and AC Milan nearly equalized. Which I could watch.
  5. Apparently there's plenty of soccer terminology I'm still not familiar with: Almost half for AC Milan/ ManU. Sounds like United is fortunate for the 1-1 score.
  6. Bah. I was only planning on going to one or two games this year, but I forgot to factor in the World Cup schedule. Good thing I didn't buy tickets in the presale.
  7. Unless you're going for the hottest games or can't devote much time to tickets on Friday, I'd recommend waiting for 500 level seating. I'm not sure it's really worth the extra $4 per ticket. Also, I prefer sitting towards the back of the 500 level instead of the first few rows.
  8. It may be more curiosity than anything else. I'd be surprised if they actually sell many tickets before Friday.
  9. So is this a sneaky way to look like they didn't raise prices on some seats that much? When they indeed raise prices by 12% across the board since the tax was included in the price of the ticket before. Yeah, but I don't believe all net prices went up. The biggest change is probably the large number of platinum games this year.
  10. It was 12% last year, as well.
  11. I took a look on Cubs.com for this year's pricing and it stated that all tickets will be subject to an additional 12% amusement tax. Previously, the amusement tax was factored into the ticket price. So consider that before you proceed to checkout.
  12. Proposed rule change time: Honestly, I think we'll just see fewer taunting penalties called rather than less taunting since officials won't want to nullify a touchdown for just anything. But perhaps bigger is that TV monitors will be allowed in the coaches' booths. Also, when Tebow convinces the NCAA to let him play another season, he'll no longer allowed to write on his eyeblack.
  13. Also, MLB owns tickets.com and has a nice deal with StubHub. So to be fair, there aren't many new ways left for the Cubs or MLB to make money outside of increasing ticket prices.
  14. It's also a shift in how tickets are sold. Listings on eBay have declined dramatically while StubHub is now the place to buy and sell. It creates a very different dynamic when you're dealing with fixed price listings that are sorted from least to most expensive. I think there will be a lot of tickets slightly above face value, but not enough to cover convenience charges for buying them and the fees for selling them. So you'll basically end up with a lot of people who are paying a little more than face and a lot of people who aren't making a profit. And a few companies (tickets.com, stubhub, ebay) that are making a ton.
  15. I wouldn't worry too much, though it's possible people may make costly mistakes this year and won't learn their lesson until after this on-sale. Aside from maybe 2 or 3 games, the secondary market profit margin was already slim. If people use this to buy tickets to those games for resale, they're going to lose money.
  16. The Cubs Club membership (scam) is based off of musicians who have been doing the same thing. This is taking the idea to another level. If they really wanted to market it, they should call it the Virtual Waiting Room VIP pass.
  17. I was just coming here to rant about it. If they want more money, just raise the prices for the more desirable games. Don't pull crap like this. What a joke.
  18. Texas was interested in joining the Big Ten for a while until recently. They want a higher profile as a top public research institution and their faculty was very much in favor of it. I'm a little surprised they want to explore it right now considering the fact that they're in the middle of a rather successful athletic stretch right now. If I was Jim Delany, Texas would be #1 on my list. They were brought up a month or two ago, but I don't believe anyone thought that Texas would have any interest. The implications of any Big Ten expansion would be big. The implications of Texas joining the Big Ten would be enormous.
  19. One of the reasons I enjoy sitting in the last row of the 500 level on the first base side is that you can turn around and get a nice view of the skyline.
  20. Quite a few changes going on, including:
  21. Don't think it was posted, but Davies had elbow surgery last week. That was expected, though, so I doubt it does anything to change how quickly he's thinking about returning.
  22. Only tuned in at the 49th minute, but not a great last 5 minutes for the Americans.
  23. Less important to whom? Aren't we talking about the football program here? The Tim Floyd stuff is more important to whatever punishment the NCAA hands down on the football program than the Reggie Bush stuff? That doesn't sound reasonable. i'm just thinking about the athletic department as a whole. how can usc's punishment be a handful of forfeited wins, loss of a few scholarships and the basketball team bowing out of ncaa postseason play in a year where they aren't good? you have guys who are either lower or middle class driving nice cars, getting new clothes, new plasma tv's and their parents are living in nice new pads. even if usc's athletic department wasn't complicit with all this - and i don't think they were - there had to be lot of hands over the eyes, fingers in the ears to miss what was going on. Too busy devoting time to academic services.
  24. The sanction vs. testicle dropping race is on.
  25. There was a brief moment when he had the ball before his back hit the line, but a timeout call there would have required the official to just be waiting for that brief moment when he possessed the ball. I don't think he actually called the TO. And holy cow, Kramer. Did you really just do that? I'm shocked they didn't call a foul despite there not being contact. Easily could have been a 3 point play. Looked clean on replays. These three's are diving me crazy. Let the game end pleas.e No, I know it was clean. The problem is that he made a motion that gets called a foul all the time for no reason. He took a huge swipe right over the guy's head. It easily could have been called a foul and it easily could have been a made layup.
