  1. Northwestern, please. That would be all kinds of awesome. The only way that would happen (and there is a long list of reasons why it won't) is if he'd come in after next season. Henry Bienen, current president and longtime friend of Carmody, has already said Bill will be back next season. The department can't afford the buyout, anyways. Of course, it will probably take a significant improvement in order for Carmody to get an extension. Bienen will be retiring after the 2008-2009 school year and Phillips is taking over as AD next month, so it will be up to Phillips...and the new President, along with Pat Ryan, as to how much money they're willing to spend. Northwestern is the ultimate ego job, though. There have been some big name coaches throughout the years who have said that they'd love to have a chance to coach at Northwestern and win here. Of course, the guys who have said it, like Jimmy V., have always left the stipulation that they'd need 1 academic exception a year. That won't happen. Of course, Knight wouldn't need it.
  2. I would've gone with cash model before I said my family owned a bunch of ATMs.
  3. I don't particularly want to see a Wild Card team with HFA over a division winner. The radio headset proposal will be interesting to watch, though.
  4. Somehow I doubt 87% of the country wants to see Washington State vs. North Carolina.
  5. Henry would be pretty interesting. It's too bad he got a head start in the US with those Gillette commercials... Since when is the US allowed to have that kind of success of set pieces?
  6. Must...resist...bad joke... You'll cave sooner or later. Here's a good gallery of Ceda from last year: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mwlguide/sets/72157602039061752/ It looks like he's carrying a lot of weight in his thighs and butt (I dare you, O_O), but not an especially large amount above his belt. Who would be a comperable big league pitcher?
  7. Here are a few coaching rumors according to Tim Doyle: Tim Floyd going to LSU, Jamie Dixon going to USC, and Sean Miller to Pitt
  8. I would hope he goes in a package deal. To think that his "value" now is probably lower than what it was during Hendry's proposed Murton for Byrd trade is mind-boggling. A straight-up trade would probably depress me too much.
  9. 1. Male 2. Yes 3. Yes (I own a TV) 4. Absolutely not 5. Absolutely yes, not to mention the local and national media 6. In no particular order: The unwillingness to build a minor league system followed by the inability to build a minor league system, bad contract decisions, failure to adapt to new thinking, and lack of front office accountability. I would not include either ownership nor Wrigley Field in this list.
  10. Are you familiar with the old robot saying, "does not compute?"
  11. There's a huge difference between swapping third round picks with SF losing their fifth round pick and the Bears getting both SF's third and fifth round picks.
  12. That is kind of funky. I wonder if things changed between them after the first book or something else made it hard for him to mention ARod? He's probably just shy. Writing a note to someone in your second book sounds just like junior high, only this time it involves a D-list celebrity and there's no spring dance involved.
  13. "I Always Get My Man" from Horse Feathers.
  14. technically i was stalking fukudome, wood and dempster before accidentally stumbling upon a stalking of hill. That's for the courts to decide. I'm not sure how much confidence Rothschild, Hendry, and company have ever had with Hill. Nothing would surprise me over the next couple of years.
  15. Yes. But it looks like we're finally past the "I don't want to carry a 12 man staff but I will anyways" quotes. Unless I'm just not reading enough articles.
  16. CBS Sports Play by Play/Color Analyst Assignments for Thursday, March 27, 2008/Saturday, March 29, 2008 East Regional: Dick Enberg/Jay Bilas West Regional: Verne Lundquist/Bill Raftery CBS Sports Play by Play/Color Analyst Assignments for Friday, March 28, 2008/Sunday, March 30, 2008 Midwest Regional: Gus Johnson/Len Elmore South Regional: Jim Nantz/Billy Packer Hopefully the Davidson vs. Wisconsin game will be good enough for Gus.
  17. Are you trying to say that Kerry Wood loves Fresca?
  18. They'll be unveiling the new away kit on Tuesday on USSoccer.com.
  19. That was my final. Thanks to the scenario generator, I just found out that the best I can do right now is a distant third. And that's if I get all of the remaining games involving teams I still have alive correct.
  20. Mississippi State has an answer for everything.
  21. I thought it was a good no call live, but I didn't see a replay. It was too close to call it either way.
