  1. Really? These Hendry No-Trade clauses are starting to irritate the hell out of me. No way Carlos pulls a Dempster. No,Please no.
  2. Here we go again UPDATE 14 (7:58pm CT): You knew this was coming. You knew it. Alden Gonzalez (Angels beat guy for MLB.com) says the reports of a deal are premature, and the Angels are still negotiating with at least one other team. I told you it wasn’t a done deal … UPDATE 15 (8:03pm CT): The reasonable fear here is that the Cubs contacted Marmol to ask him *if* he would waive his NTC to go to the Angels, he said yes, the Cubs went back to the table, and in the meantime, Marmol told a local reporter. Enter Twitter, asplode head.
  3. [expletive], at this point, just keep on losing and get that #2 pick next year. We lead Minnesota and Colorado by about 5 games at the moment I believe.
  4. No Kim DeJesus on this list??
  5. Atleast were in the #2 slot right now for next years draft. To bad we won't catch the Astros for #1
  6. Valubuena hitting third...Um ok...
  7. He still won't go to the Giants :( Alfonso Soriano told Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago that he probably wouldn't accept a trade to the Giants. "I don't think so," said Soriano, who has 10-and-5 rights. He told the Cubs at the July 31 non-waiver deadline that he was not open to a move to San Francisco and it doesn't seem his mind has changed. The 36-year-old outfielder cleared waivers this week but might just stay put with the Cubs.
  8. Bert Jackson with 11 K's in 17 AB's so far.
  9. I don't get Sveum's infatuation with Valbuena..It's sort of turning into the Baker, Neifi Perez situation. Vitters should be playing everyday.
  10. How about the guy that's younger than all three of them? Yeah, how do people keep forgetting about him? Plus Shark, Wood, Cabrera, Beliveau, Russell, Wellington Castillo, Clevenger... there are a ton of you guys worth watching right now. I know we got a ton of young guys at the moment like you stated. It's pretty crazy that our entire infield is now 26 or younger. I was just throwing the couple names out there I am most excited to watch at the moment.
  11. Rizzo, Jackson and Vitters. That is all.
  12. If Hendry was here, this would have never gone down. He would've been an untouchable piece with what he brings to the team and on the field. Reed Johnson would still be here also since they're both hard working white players with tons of grit and meat heads love em.
  13. I'm feeling a Soriano trade next to continue the youth movement.
  14. Roto Release The Cubs will promote outfield prospect Brett Jackson and infield prospect Josh Vitters from Triple-A Iowa. They're expected to meet the team in Los Angeles, though it's not clear if they'll be activated in time for Sunday's game or if the Cubs will wait until Monday in San Diego. Jackson, who is the more highly regarded prospect of the two, has batted .256/.338/.479 with 15 homers and 27 steals at Triple-A Iowa this season. He strikes out way too much, but his power/speed combo is intriguing. Vitters has put up a .304/.356/.513 batting line with 17 homers at the same level. It's doubtful the Cubs would promote them unless they planned to play them every day, so expect Jackson to be in center field and Vitters to be at third base regularly.
  15. Castro,Rizzo,Jackson, and Vitters. The nucleus is beginning to form for the future. Now we just need some damn pitching.
  16. Well, they surely are going to blow ass, but it's still going to be exciting to watch BJax, Vitters and Rizzo all play together on the big club.
  17. From Assman Assman22 Demp to the Yankees..... – Jul 31, 3:56 PM
  18. Pretty reliable guy over at BN just posted this..He reported Soler and a few other things before they happened “Heard that Dempster and Soriano could be on their way to LA. Not sure who is coming back.” – direct quote from the top Cubs source. Also heard today that Dempster at some point denied a trade to the Red Sox.
  19. When Jim Hendry encountered a stalemate, he ate it. If was was still GM, The trade would have already been completed for some super gritty white middle infielders who wear Affliction shirts.
  20. I'm sure Dempster is a nice guy, but when it comes to baseball trading and negotiations he's a [expletive] moron. Way to ruin whatever leverage we had and piss off your organization and fan base.
  21. It'll be another stalemate. Dodgers don't want to offer any real value and Theo is not going to cave in.
  22. 1:41pm: Talks between the Dodgers and Cubs for Dempster are gaining momentum, reports Scott Miller of CBS Sports.
  23. Pitching market shrinking a bit. Looks like Marlins are keeping Johnson The Marlins told teams today they're going to keep Josh Johnson barring something unforeseen, reports ESPN's Jayson Stark.
