  1. When the Cubs were at Turner Field before the All-Star break, Dempster told some of the Braves players that he would like to play in Atlanta. The 35-year-old pitcher will be a free agent at the end of this season. Then Accept the deal Demp! http://atlanta.braves.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20120723&content_id=35420372&vkey=news_atl&c_id=atl
  2. So this is all in Dempster's hands now from the latest reports..Would he really be a dick and veto this trade? He comes out and says the whole spiel about wanting them to get a good return for him that helps the club out and that he'd go to a contender. He can friggin sign back here in the off season if he wanted. Now it turns into a huge head scratcher for him acting like this trade is a surprise that caught him off guard when there rumors have been going on for only how long? Yes, I'm probably jumping the gun a bit.
  3. It was reported he would waive it for Dodgers or Braves. So if he didn't, it would be pretty shocking.
  4. Yep, as stated above, waiting on Dempster Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Cubs and Braves are waiting on Ryan Dempster's approval on a trade that would send him to Atlanta. The Cubs and Braves have reportedly reached agreement on a deal that would sent Dempster to Atlanta for 22-year-old right-hander Randall Delgado. However, Dempster wrote on his Twitter account Monday afternoon that "there is no trade." The veteran right-hander has 10-and-5 rights and can veto any deal, so he must give his formal approval first. He has indicated in the past that he would be willing to join a contender, so just because he has veto power doesn't mean he'll use it in this case.
  5. He better cut out the whole sentimental Chicago love/crush BS and accept the trade. I hope this is not a huge hurdle. He came out and said he'd go to a contender and wanted to help the team out by getting a good return. Wish granted.
  6. Ryan Dempster Twitter Dempster Foundation ‏@RyanDempsterFDN THERE IS NO TRADE dont know where this info came from! Expand
  7. Kapman with the buzzkill David Kaplan ‏@thekapman Just spoke with great source. No deal has been agreed upon. Talks ongoing. Nothing done yet.
  8. Roto Bowman is "hearing" that Randall Delgado will be sent to Chicago in return, but it sounds like talks are ongoing in regards to that piece of the puzzle.
  9. Here we go! I had a feeling something was gonna go down today According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Braves "appear close" to landing Cubs righty Ryan Dempster. ESPN's Jayson Stark says a swap could be completed by Monday afternoon.
  10. Dempster??? David O'Brien ‏@ajcbraves Also hearing #Braves closer to finalizing trade for a starting pitcher. Expand
  11. Nothing really new.. New frontrunner for Dempster 08:14 AM ET 07.23 | Ryan Dempster remains a hot topic on the trade market. [Dempster's] first choice, the Los Angeles Dodgers, have cooled on trading for him, creating an opening for his second choice, the Atlanta Braves. The Braves remain firmly in the mix for Dempster, though no deal was close as of late Sunday afternoon. ... Two other teams interested in Dempster -- the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals -- share the same reservations as the Dodgers about parting with better prospects for a player who is a free agent at the end of the season. Dempster's preference is to remain in the National League. A poor outing by right-hander Jair Jurrjens against the Nationals on Sunday might only have reinforced the Braves' desire to trade for a quality starter. FOX Sports
  12. Carrie Muskat suggests that the hold-up between the Cubs and Dodgers is that the Cubs are holding steady in demanding Zach Lee. http://muskat.mlblogs.com/2012/07/21/721-dodgers-on-hold-re-dempster/
  13. I'm sure as hell gonna be praying he has a solid start tonight then so these teams get finally convinced and throw in what Theo and Jed want. Lets go Demp.. 7 IP 0 ER
  14. I have a feeling this is about to go down at any moment now. Brett over at BN is saying from his reliable source that the Cubs have 2 offers on the table right now and are just deciding between which one to take and it could happen any time now. He dug up some more info from another source and they suggested that's its believed to be between two NL teams. Dodgers and most likely the Braves as the other.
  15. Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers have "by far" shown the strongest interest in Ryan Dempster. Most have considered them the favorites to land him for a while now. ESPN's Jayson Stark reported earlier Tuesday that the Cubs were trying to deal Dempster before the end of the week, so it's very possible his next start will be in a Dodgers uniform. The Braves, Tigers, Nationals and Red Sox have also reportedly show interest in the veteran righty.
  16. Those were posted elsewhere a few days ago, but yeah, it's great to see him in photos. Can't wait to see video to see if he's as athletic as his body type would imply. Damn, I'm sorry. Didn't see them. Feel free to delete the post then if you'd like, otherwise I'll remove it. I just ran across it and got pretty damn excited seeing those.
  17. Guys, check these out. Pics of Soler in Cubbie Blue. Looks like a pretty big kid. This guys only 20? 21. Lee's in the lineup today, but will make decision tonight...Please stay in Houston!! Carlos Lee is in the Astros' lineup Sunday and says he has yet to make a decision on whether to accept a trade to the Dodgers. The fact that he's in the lineup would seem to indicate he's likely staying with the 'Stros, but he'll likely officially make a decision later Sunday. The Dodgers have a deal in place to acquire the veteran first baseman/outfielder, but Lee might prefer to stay close to his ranch in Texas rather than join a contender.
