  1. Say no to Lilly. His mechanics are so bad. Maybe that is why he is always seemingly injured. I dont want him really..But then I think again, he won 15 games with a team with no sticks..Was in a tough division posting a 4.31 ERA which isnt that bad..I can see him coming to wrigley and winning about 17 games..
  2. From Rotoworld The Mariners met with Ted Lilly's agent, Larry O'Brien, on Tuesday. The Cubs and Blue Jays are believed to have four-year offers worth about $10 million per year on the table to Lilly. It's unclear whether the Mariners will visit that territory. If they do, Lilly would likely have some interest in pitching for a West Coast team. So what if Lilly signs with another team..This would totally upset Hendry..Does he then push harder for Schimt or does he go after Suppan,Meche or someone we dont really want...Is it better we sign Lilly or we dont...I dont see him signing anyone else really if we get Lilly
  3. LoL, how in the hell is this winter meetings news.. David Wells remains almost certain to retire, but he has indicated to Padres GM Kevin Towers that he's leaving the door cracked a bit. Towers said Wells recently returned from a safari trip to Africa. "Three hours away from Mt. Kilimanjaro," Towers said. "He went by himself. No running water, electricity." Wells told the GM that a terrible smell came into his tent one day, and it took a minute to finally figure it out: A hyena was sniffing around just on the other side of the tent wall -- the smell apparently was hyena breath.
  4. According to FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal, the Royals and Cardinals are the finalists for Miguel Batista. The Royals knew they'd have to overpay and overpay they have, as Rosenthal says they've offered Batista $24 million for three years. It's unclear whether the Cardinals are offering three years. They might be at something like $6 million-$7 million per year for two seasons. If the Royals get him, they'd undoubtedly be hoping he performs a little better than he did in his previous stint with the team. He had a 7.74 ERA in 57 innings with Kansas City in 2000. There goes one of Hendry's prized pitchers..Hooray
  5. Its been an hour and a half since the last update from ESPN at the meetings..Something better be going down by now..Jim better be talking to Schimts agent telling him hell get 4 years
  6. All he has to do is sign Jason Schmit and hell come out successful to most of us..
  7. This winter meetings thread sure went silent... where is everyone?
  8. Badelli is a clone of Matt Murton..Only not orange and alot cooler name..
  9. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Seriously, has the market come to this? Its sick..he made 4 million last year..Now wants 6 mil more..for just an average pitcher.Hell prolly do the same as Wade Miller..Well get the same stats for 8 million less.
  10. If the Yankees stole him from Hendry..Hendry would have a nervous breakdown...Im all for it if it means hell push harder to sign Schimt or trade for Jennings or Westbrook
  11. update at 6:20 ET from ESPN at the winter meetings While Ted Lilly (Cubs) and Vicente Padilla (Rangers) moved closer to signing multiyear contracts, indications are that Jeff Suppan might remain on the market until after the winter meetings. Suppan is believed to be seeking at least $10 million a year on a multiyear deal and continues to attract interest from St. Louis and several other clubs. I think its 95 percent sure right now that Lily signs with us..
  12. The Cubs should offer Jones and Mateo or one of their many other young guys for Jennings..Im sure the Rockies would that
  13. I bet he signs be tomorrow. This will be terrible if he ends up being our number two.... Damnit Jimbo, you should be pushing for Schmit, not Lily
  14. From ESPN at 4:15 ET The Cubs are making a hard push for Ted Lilly. According to Steve Phillips, Lilly's agent will arrive later today.
  15. I wont mind signing Lily as long as we get Schmibt to be our number two...Just sign Schimbt and trade for Jennings..that would solve it all..Solid top 3 pitchers...
  16. Once again its Barry being racist...It cant be white shoes..They have to be black for Barry

  21. Agent Larry O'Brien said the Cubs have offered free agent Ted Lilly a four-year deal. "We've had an offer [from Chicago], and we're considering coming back with another counter offer," O'Brien told MLB.com on Friday. "I'm planning on meeting with [Cubs general manager] Jim Hendry down at the winter meetings in Orlando next week, but we're also going to be meeting with [Toronto general manager] J.P. Ricciardi." O'Brien also intends to discuss Lilly with the Yankees, Orioles, Rangers and Giants. Dec. 1 - 7:24 pm et 4 years...Wonder how much? Counter offer??? he better not want like 12 or 13 mil a year
  22. Looks like Hendry made on offer to Lilly... Its on Cubs.com
