  1. Great pictures Roast! Glad you got to see a good one too!
  2. What kind of stuff does he have? Mid-90s FB and a curve. A fastball between 92-98, a good curveball, and a show-me changeup he uses mainly against lefties. I see him eventually being a reliever, but if he continues to improve his secondary pitches he could one day start. This is his first year pitching at a full-season professional level, so he still has some improving to do.
  3. I am currently interning with the Augusta GreenJackets, and Henry Sosa is one hell of a prospect. Too bad he's in an organization that is sloooooow to promote their players... I hope he gets a much deserved promotion to high A after the all star break to see how he adjusts.
  4. Exactly my thoughts when i read this.
  5. I think they are strongly leaning towards Vitters, but I just don't think its set in stone yet. Sadly, I see the Cubs brass split between Parker and Vitters.
  6. He is the definition of a AAAA player, IMO.
  7. I'd rather see Soto or Fox get a call up then to take a chance on one of these guys.
  8. Cubs fans who hate the Cubs, a much needed support group.
  9. depends on your definition of "better", I guess -- I'd say Jacque's actually been the better CF this year despite 2 errors to Hunter's 0 I'd respectively disagree. Jones is solid in the field, and so is Hunter. I agree that Hunter is overrated as a fielder, but he is an upgrade over Jones because of his slightly better throwing arm. Either way, I wouldn't want Torii on our team. I'm holding out hope that the Yankees make a move for him and overpay him after this season.
  10. Good lord, not something you ever want to hear... Prayers are with you and yours Ryan.
  11. I believe he wants to go back to Anahiem.
  12. That would be a solid move. I bet there is nothing solid on Glendon these days Aren't tumors solid? Come on. Stop it. Tumors are not funny. What if a clown gets a tumor? Then he's be a sad clown. And sad clowns are no fun at parties. Thaaaat makes me a Saaaaad Panda... Good O'le South Park
  13. why is the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz wearing the Wicked Witch's hat and riding a unicorn with a comely young maiden in your signature? It's from Scrubs
  14. Ive been in the mode of thinking that I believe Carlos Marmol would be a very effective closer. I'd like to see him in AAA learning how to close, because I'm fine with Dempster closing out games. He has been solid in save opportunities this year, just don't bring him in for non-save opportunities!
  15. And i made the mistake of trading Peavy for Manny and Ibanez at the start of the season..
  16. Just saw on the bottom line he is getting called up to start for sundays game.
  17. If there ever could be a tie...
  18. HAHAHAHAHA wow! On a sidenote, just talking about writers and such doing stuff like this on purpose..Near the end of the season when San Antonio played Memphis there was a great example of this. Brent Barry was listed as a DNP (Did Not Play) and the reason for this was a "Tummy Ache." I literally lost it when I read that, and i went searching for it again and found this link. http://futonreport.net/index.php/2007/4422434 Funny thing is, since it got a buzz around it Yahoo! has switched it to say "illness".
  19. Thats quite a DL squad you've got going. Does your league have DL spots? It be pretty tough to hold on to all those guys if your in the Yahoo league. Im trying to wait it out for Lincecum, but who knows when those duds in the Giants front office will actually call him up.
  20. Defensive replacements aren't necessary in every single game. If you can afford it, it doesn't hurt, but doing things like removing Barrett in the 8th inning of every game is the definition of insanity. This may be off topic, but is anyone else a little puzzled about how Lou has handled our bench in several of our closer games this season? In both of our extra innings games, it seemed that Lou burned through our bench a little too fast, leaving nobody to pinch hit (besides marquis) in crucial spots later on. I understand that Soriano was out and our bench was a little thin, but having no one on your bench in two different spots was interesting to me.
  21. This has nothing to do with whether he should play SS specifically. The Cubs strongest lineup has Theriot at SS and Pie in CF and Floyd in RF defensively the Cubs strongest defensive lineup has Cedeno at SS, and Pagan in RF with Pie still in CF (and Blanco behind the plate) This tells me that the Cubs need to get rid of Izturis, Jones and find a PH-C so they can insert Blanco in later innings. I think Murton in RF makes for a stronger line-up than Floyd. Pagan isn't on the team and shouldn't be. Ever! A pinch hitting catcher is a waste. If he could hit worth a crap, he would be starting as a catcher. Agreed, on all parts. We all know Jones will be traded somewhere inbetween 10 seconds after i post this, and July 31st. The situation Floyd has caused is one all of us were concerned about when we first signed him. It was a great move IF he was used primarily as a pinch hitter, and that hasn't happened so far. We need Murton's ability to get on base in our lineup, because as it was in years past, this team simply doesnt get on base to save their lives. The feast or famine will continue as long as we continue to struggle to get people on base.
  22. Thats because he is always whining at officiating or invisible hand checks from bulls defenders.
