  1. I know he has slipped back a little in the last week+, but does anyone know how many at bats he has gotten against lefties in the last 10 days. It seems like he has gotten several starts and at bats against lefties in that time period. I dont know but looking back through the game log, he has only had 1 day off that wasnt a team day off since Aug 1. I wonder if hes a little gassed right now. I really hope Lou will play Monroe in CF against lefties from here on out. Yea I saw that, and after this hot streak he has been going through I bet he is due to come back down to earth. He has seemed to be a streaky player throughout his time with the Cubs, so I guess we shouldn't expect the output he has given thusfar in the second half to continue. Your right too, I'd much rather see an outfield of Soriano, Monroe, and Murton against lefties than putting Floyd or Jones out there.

  3. Im bringing it back. Fantastic catch yesterday, JJ has been playing well in the second half and best of all, he looks to be having fun once again.
  4. His career is unbelievable. There's nothing funny about the guy, and somehow he's parlayed that into a multi-million dollar career. And now he's the face of the 2007 playoffs? I just don't get it. Either do I brother, Either do I.
  5. That really sucks Drafted by us in like the 45th round, then drafted the next year by the Indians i think one round earlier. Staying in school did him wonders, all the way from late in the draft to #10 overall.
  6. Hahaha! That is hilarious.
  7. Funny thing is, thats just an American League record. What in the world is the Major League record?!
  8. Implying that an 88 OPS+ is "thriving" borders on a hyperbole. His production is significantly down from his time with Chicago last year. I'm not saying he sucks -- it's acceptable from a versatile middle infielder. But much like Bo Hart a few years ago, Theriot was playing way over his head in 2006. As soon as i put "thrived' i knew what the response would be... He certainly hasn't "thrived", but his numbers (as you have already conceded) are more than acceptable.
  9. Yep, Bo Hart for a half a year. I'll stand by it. He disappeared. Theriot continues to thrive at the major league level, the comparison doesn't fit.
  10. Jason Simontacchi for one year. Bo Hart for a half a year.
  11. --From the Star Ledger Maybe they just want him to get exposure to the major league environment. He's already on the 40-man roster and the option clock has already started, so there's nothing to lose by bringing him up when rosters expand. In fact, he's the only player currently on the 40-man who has not yet appeared in the majors. You know, except for those pesky ballgames we gotta play. I hope we don't bring Samardzija up, lets let him continue to gain confidence in his game in AA instead of getting roughed up in the majors.
  12. If that is in reference to that lady's death, you are a bad man. Huh? This sickly woman's husband was tired of paying her medical bills so he took her to the balcony of their apartment and threw her off it. Pretty messed up story. real buzzkill. thanks debbie downer
  13. I wasn't too surprised by Upton, but I figured Maybin wouldn't crack the big league club until next year..Regardless, he is going to be really fun to watch. Can't wait to see who has better numbers with regular playing time, Maybin or Upton...It's damn close to a coin flip.
  14. Wow, some people really don't understand sarcasm.
  15. For someone your not guaranteed to have after this year, that wouldn't be too smart.
  16. Absolutely it would! Give Sean our best regards, we'll be rooting for him every step of the way!
  17. Im hoping not much longer I think he'll move to the mound during instructs. Instructs start in late September, right? Yup. Thank you, Thank you.

  19. Olney just said on BBTN that the White Sox made a claim on Tejada, but no deal was made.
  20. Piggy, Cherry, Rapada, and Marmol will be fixtures in our BP for years to come. disagree. Marmol probably, the others I doubt it. I'm sure the advance scouts will take your prognostication into consideration. Are advance scouts the only ones allowed to give opinions about players on this board? Coming into this season you probably didn't think Marmol would be a fixture in our pen for years to come. Both Rapada and Pignietallo (probably misspelled) look like promising players and deserve a shot. Actually I have been on record as saying that I really liked Marmol as an option out of the bullpen, rather than the starting rotation. Rapada could possibly be a situational lefty. Pignatiello's stuff is fringy, and he might be more of a AAAA pitcher whose stuff just isn't quite good enough to be effective against major league hitters. And they will be cheap options opposed to pricey veterans. I should restate, i hope they are viable options for us to use. Rapada will be a decent left specialist, Cherry can be that guy who bounces from AAA to the big league team, Piggy deserves a shot, and i think his stuff is good enough to pitch at the next level.
  21. Turning a 96 loss team into a team within a game of first place on August 4th is zero results. Your a tough person to please, aren't ya?
  22. Piggy, Cherry, Rapada, and Marmol will be fixtures in our BP for years to come. It's about time we start using these young arms instead of overpaying for crap.
  23. Not too much solid contact yet, which means that as soon as I type this, Gotay will hit a HR. or a 2b.
  24. Soooo many foul balls against Howry...
