  1. Or maybe they want to give Derrek an extra day or two to nurse his injury from today. That would be my guess. Buck Coats surviving round one makes it seem to me that he is going to be the "25th man". I could be extremely wrong though, it happens quite often actually
  2. Don't need to be an expert to see he lacked confidence. It has been painfully obvious... Exactly. I'm concerned about it, but i feel if he continues to pitch pain free (which i hope is happening), then the confidence will slowly come.
  3. Lawerence Holmes asked Carroll his thoughts on Prior, and he said simply "i just don't know." He thought he just lacked confidence, and it might stem from a fear of getting injured again. It was a brief conversation, you didn't miss a whole lot.
  4. Arghh...lets hope this doesnt start an avalanche of fantasy injuries this season like I had last year!
  5. Eh, its much better than being discouraged!
  6. Ahh, i forgot they picked up the heavy hitting ross gload to help out at first base as well.
  7. For some reason I thought they were talking about Teahan at first base?
  8. Agreed. Cabrera, however, is one of those players.
  9. Great thread to read through, there were a couple (like Isod) that i had a very hard time understanding. This is a site I use most often: http://www.hardballtimes.com/main/statpages/glossary/
  10. Alright, with all this talk of Aardsma's headshot from last season...someone is going to have to post it for me. Pleeeeease. :P
  11. Exactly. Funny thing is, you probably have done more research on ESPN being idiots, than ESPN did for writing this article.
  12. I think a lot of it is determined on what position we are talking about. Shortstop is an extreme example, where playing murton at SS may actually not be as much of a plus because of his limited defense and the amount of action generated by the position. Positions like LF and RF however can get away with putting a player with lesser abilities defensively. I see what you mean, and for some reason think of this example. Lets say we are looking to improve this offense at the trade deadline, and have the opportunity to pick up a third baseman (too early to think of an example). Would moving Aramis to RF, and picking up a good third baseman improve the team overall? Its a very interesting thought, if im on the right track of what your thinking :D
  13. I see a bright future for this kid. He seems to be a hard worker, and a student of the game. Lets hope he thrives this year (would it be out of the question to see him progress to AA this season?)
  14. I see Barrett being very apt to do this sort of thing. I'm not sure why, he just seems to love it here enough to try and make things work out. (at least i hope so :D )
  15. I have a friend that swears at the end of the 07 season Harvey will be pitching, instead of on the field. I sure hope he turns it around, but im not going to get my hopes too high.
  16. I've never seen Gallagher pitch in person, but from what I hear of him I really like. I have a comparison that jumps out at me when I read about Sean, and i was wondering if any of you had comments on it? Sean sounds like he pitches a lot like Tom Glavine, am i way off base with this or is it sort of accurate?
  17. I have the same reaction everytime i see Sammy in another uniform. :( On a sidenote, i completely forgot Lofton signed with the Rangers.
  18. If only he stayed healthly on a consistent basis... Regardless, good signing by Beane, low risk high reward type signing.
  19. This is getting too funny. They already have 20 of their 40 man roster filled up by pitchers. What is their rotation going to be next year??? Arroyo Harang Milton ??? (Kyle Lohse/Kirk Saarloos/Elizardo Ramirez) ??? Also, when are they expecting Bailey to be called up, anyone have any guesses or predictions? They may be carrying 13 pitchers on their roster this next year at this rate...
  20. I remember him saying something about Marquette men's basketball and being their play-by-play man at some point, so at least you can hear him at some point! (not sure if it was radio or TV)
  21. If you analyze that Video it wasn't Wrigley. You don't even really need to analyze it that much. It's clearly not Wrigley. Wow, didn't know that. I guess i didn't look at it very closely.
  22. Suprised no one has linked the clip of the guy doing the head first slide in one of the bathroom troths....
  23. Haha, i have already applied for the Stats Stringer position! I don't think that will qualify for my necessary internship this summer however.... :(
  24. Looking forward to see what you have come up with Vance. How do you determine the pitchers spot if you are using PECOTA, are you going through and determining a set amount of starts for each pitcher? Just curious how you will determine that?
