  1. Extremely reactive, hyperbolic post: Caleb Williams has surpassed Justin Fields in 5 weeks of play
  2. I’m absolutely not holding out hope for it but it would be really nice if Jordan Love sucked. It’s about time they got one QB who’s not a slam dunk hall of famer
  3. Excellent game to attend. Caleb looked awesome, running game was good, defense was almost lights out aside from a bust in the first series. I dunno what any of those penalties were in the second half, other than it took the refs forever to give everyone penalties resulting in nothing of substance happening. im glad there was no semblance of a Dalton Revenge Game. A wonderful Get Healthy game. Here’s hoping the offense continues the momentum forward. So fun.
  4. The back half of the season is gonna be tough, no doubt. One hopes the offense is up and running by then. I’m not pinning all my hopes on this team selling out to make the playoffs this particular year. Itd be nice if they do. But if they end the season 8-9 or 9-8 and Caleb and the offense have made some major strides, it’s a successful season. Yeah I kinda deluded myself into think in the offseason this is a 10+ win season, but clearly we need to take more time with Caleb and the offense to get roaring. That isn’t a crazy expectation given the history of rookie QBs.
  5. Oh yeah I definitely agree on that Braxton play. It was a dumb call, and I don’t think Braxton was even trying to really lay a huge hit on the guy. Overall the officiating was just…overboard in the first half. A lot of it hurt us, a lot of it hurt the Rams, overall they just needed to let the teams play. Too many ticky tack flags make for a poor and uninteresting game to watch.
  6. Having Kirk Cousins throw 58 times seems crazy to me. Yeah I know they won and he had 500+ yards but it seems insane to do that with your 36 year old QB who came off a season ending injury alls that to say is I’m happy for Mooney. Definitely the top of the “he needed a change of scenery” type guys.
  7. Welcome back to the fold, brother
  8. Here's something: In his 3 seasons with the Bears Justin Fields had a Success Rate % of 38.2%, 36.7% and 38.4%. Through his first 4 games, Caleb Williams has a Success Rate % of 40.1%.
  9. Oh I wouldn’t so confident of that. Eberflus defenses have had a hard time against decent QBs who take their time and find open receivers (a defense being bad against good QBs is a bit redundant, I know). The Dalton led Panthers have been able to move the ball and score points. I wouldn’t be shocked at all if they hit more than 17. The real test here is if the Bears can put together 4 full quarters of competent offense.
  10. The thing I’m most fascinated/depressed by is that the Line play significantly improved after Teven came out and Matt Pryor came in. Maybe it was just the scheme, and the adjustments Waldron made, but it would suck if Jenkins is kinda…done here. ah well, play your best 5 guys and make something happen
  11. This is the one game where I'll be furious if they lose (partly because I'll be in attendance). If there's such a thing as a 'gimme' game, it's the Carolina Panthers. I'm glad the Panthers bagged a win for themselves so they aren't playing in complete desperation mode. I will not be able to stomach seeing 37 year old Andy Dalton stunt on us. Here's hoping they build on the offensive momentum they ended on this past week.
  12. Is JT O'Sullivan the guy who irrationally hates DJ Moore? I can't remember if its him or Tim Jenkins. One of those guys. There's a vague story brewing that DJ Moore is dogging Williams and I think its pure rumormongering. I don't think there's anything to this other than the fact that Williams is a rookie, first year in a system, working with guys he's never worked with before. When you watch a duo like Mahomes and Kelce, there's all sorts of unspoken understanding of where the QB expects the guy to be, where he'll go if a play breaks down, what kind of throw to expect, etc. etc. All that has to built, oftentimes over the course of years. We're just not there yet. I'm pretty confident it will come, though.
  13. Few players have done more with less than Kyle. What a dope ass player to follow. Nothing better than a pitcher who baffles and succeeds through smoke, mirrors, grit, and a brain. also helps he’s almost the exact age as me so I’ve grown up through his career. Hats off Kyle!
  14. I only saw one play of Fields and he ran backwards for 25 yards, got sacked, and got the team out of field goal range. its unfair to judge him by that alone but I definitely don’t miss it
  15. Wow that was fun. Good to see the offense finally look somewhat competent (it took about a half, of course) and Caleb looked composed and did what he needed to do. His numbers look depressed because some of what he did right involved drawing downfield penalties, and he held onto the ball too long on several key moments, but he never lost his cool and never looked panicked. It was a good job by him. excellent to see the running game finally get going, and as nice to see Swift finally see some signs of life, I want Roschon to get more touches. He just runs downhill so much better than Swift. But all in all a significantly better offensive effort that looked almost professional. This defense is really something special. They had a rough drive or two, but it’s the NFL and that’s unavoidable. Brisker is a goddamn beast. Honestly surprised how good this defense has been. I’d love to trade a little bit of defensive competence for some more cleaned up offense, but unfortunately that’s not how it works. Excited to be at the game next week.
  16. The post was referring to how he’d look on Sunday, but in general, yes I do think he looks pretty darned good. He’s a work in progress still (and will remain so all season long) but I was more than pleased with his performance against the Colts. I encourage everyone to just watch Caleb's All-22 tape. No commentary, nothing special. Just watch all throws he made. Aside from the really bad, stupid interception, it's really really good. He's missing long on some deep balls, but I'm not too worried about that in the long run. They lost the game, but that doesn't crowd out my view of how he played.
  17. Agreed. Theres just no excuse for this team to wallow in mediocrity for so long. They should be clear easy playoff contenders year in, year out, not eliminated more than a week before the seasons over. It’s embarrassing.
  18. I'll be at that Panthers game with my dad and if they manage to lose that one, I'll be really pissed. I'm not *really* afraid of Andy Dalton, not even with the 1 game deadcat bounce from him, but he sure as hell gives em a much better chance to win than Mr. I'm Too Small To Play and Why Did Anyone Think I Was Worth the First Overall Holy Moly What Was the NFL Thinking
  19. I have some sort of feeling the Bears win this one in convincing fashion, Caleb looks pretty darn good, and all the existential despair of Bears fandom of the last 3 weeks instantly evaporates. (Only to return in 2-3 weeks when they lose a game again, because its professional football) Could be totally wrong though.
  20. Oh man. That 2008-2013 period of the Bulls was the time where I paid the most attention to them since the Jordan years and the team was so much fun. Such a shame what's happened since. You had the injuries and then the weird and offputting....sex stuff.... it's really too bad. You'd like to feel good about memorializing Rose but it feels a little wrong.
  21. I think Bernstein and Holmes was a decent pairing, and I wish Goff was coming back, but hats off to him not bending over for 670 and doing his own thing.
  22. I'm not even mad at the 4th down play specifically. I'm mad they ran 4 straight run plays when they haven't been able to do any short yardage running all season long (and really weren't any damn good at it last year either) and didn't give Caleb Williams at least one chance to lob it into the end zone.
  23. I don’t know why wouldn’t root for them to lose out. It’s so much more fun! I have no animosity towards the white sox but if the cubs were in the same position I’d absolutely be rooting for history. It’s almost impossible to be this bad (with players trying to win.) achieve glory! Achieve history! Better to be remembered as historically awful rather than nearly historically awful.
  24. Listening to some recaps of the game and the “they didn’t commit to the run game!!” Narrative is there already. If anything, they’ve committed too much to it. It’s quite alright to throw in the towel if it doesn’t horsefeathers work at all. They’re averaging like 2 yards a carry throughout the season. Run as much as you need to to keep defenses reasonably honest but other than that, let it rip, Caleb.
  25. With zero hesitation: yes
