  1. huh?, his "scheme" produces turnovers like none other in the NFL. I don't like the Cover 2.
  2. The Central Division is pretty good. Four of the five teams are over .500. It's the rest of the East that stinks. True but you have to admit overall the Chicago teams are a little lucky in this regard. I don't see your point. So would somebody who is a Knicks, Mets, Giants and Rangers fan. What about Philly fans? Furthermore, it's not like this is a hard and fast rule. The NFC used to reign, and will again. The NBA West wasn't always dominant. Neither was the AL. Well let me think....is this a Chicago Bull thread or a Met thread? I'm commenting on how weak those conferences are, I suppose I didn't realize I touched a nerve but just mentioned a fact. I never said that the East was always bad did I? No. I just mentioned that right now they are not as good as the other. Am I wrong? I'm sorry we can't petition our sports teams to move conferences. Jesus Christ you need to be punched in the face.
  3. Keeping with the Bears' reputation of being cheap. ?????????? WHAT Jesus some people will complain about anything. Lets lay it on the line. He doesn't deserve 8 million a year, his scheme is actually pretty shi**y on the whole, but he motivated the team, got them in shape, and held them accountable. (Unlike Jauron) Why does he deserve more than those guys? They all went to the Superbowl and lost as well, y'know.
  4. I came here to vent about the Bears' cheapness, and got a welcome surprise. Hoo-ray!
  5. Exactly, stats don't inherently ruin anyones enjoyment of the game. Fans should be allowed to know what is exactly going on during a game, and thats what statistics allow you to do. (Actually they are just one facet of knowledge in a game, but everyone knows that) Can some people get carried away? Certainly. But people basing their opinions off of concrete evidence is much better than people screaming their heads off on whether A-rod is "clutch" or not, when such a quality in a ball player might not exist at all.
  6. Feel sorry for them all you want. They have perhaps the best Manager in the world. Check FireJoeMorgan.com if you want reassurance. I want him to be my dad.
  7. I try to give you my Heart, Chicago Bulls, and you send it back to me torn to shreds. I feel so very betrayed.
  8. He looks like Ryan Howard...without the talent.
  9. Indeed, Turner needs to go. He's done what I pretty much expected him to do, and has given us about an average offense. Now we need someone to actually bring us an above average offense. This Rivera move kinda surprised me, but not greatly. All the talk makes me hope that we get a D. Coordinator that is more flexible and is more prone to blitzing, but considering Rivera was a blitz happy coach before he came here, I can't even really get my hopes up. Could this mean even less blitzing, and more inflexible playcalling? Is that even possible?
  10. best case scenario, briggs signs a huge deal with another team, we pick posluszny and get the picks. i love briggs and think he should be re-signed, but a chance to replace him with a talent like pos while getting a couple first rounders would be pretty sweet. I really want a linebacker with torn up knees that had to switch positions and never looke the same. Oh wait. No thanks on Poszlusny.
  11. This is good news, as long as he signs it.
  12. This is amusing and kinda depressing at the same time. I don't believe that Pete Rose is enjoying his life much anymore, is he? Does he really deserve it?
  13. We're friggin losing to the Bobcats. God damn this team sometimes.
  14. I wasn't comparing the deals, I was comparing the attitudes people have of Wood and Zambrano. Also, I'm not entirely opposed to giving Zambrano Zito money, the man deserves it. He's what, 26? Jesus guys. I'd give it to him too. The question is, does Hendry have it to give to Zambrano? After giving the big money out to all these other guys, I'm not so sure he has the money to offer Z. He had an opportunity to lock up Zambrano before he paid out money to Lilly, Floyd and Marquis. He didn't do it. Now he risks losing him to someone WHO WILL give Zambrano Zito money next year, maybe more. If that happens, should Hendry lose his job? Absolutely. My desire to trade Zambrano now is only to attempt to get more than a couple of draft picks when Zambrano leaves. I believe Zambrano won't be back if he isn't signed before this season starts. No way will the Cubs be able to outbid the Yankees. I agree with this. To sign Lilly and Marquis without knowing for a fact that you still had money for Zambrano is unforgivable in and of itself. This blunder alone would cost any MLB GM his job, and Hendry is a guy that should, IMHO, have been fired earlier. If this goes down the way I fear it will, with Z walking for draft choices and no Cub WS in 2007, Hendry will, and should, go down as one of the worst GMs in Cubs history. Being one of the worst GMs in Cubs history is akin to being one of the whitest players to play basketball at Duke. Every new crop wants to top the actions of their predecessor. I love you. Also, you guys are talking about there being a lack of money to sign Zambrano after all these moves...couldn't Hendry ask for a little bit more money (probably more than a little) than the payroll to keep a fan favorite and franchise player? I honestly don't know how it works, but I remember in Moneyball, Billy Beane called up his owner for some extra cash to sign someone.
  15. Wii has made me a fantastic bowler. On wii.

  17. Teams don't throw at Vasher nearly as much as Tillman-I've heard that Tillman got thrown at twice as much as Vasher this year-in fact, Tillman was one of the league leaders at balls thrown his way. Because of this, it seems to reason that Tillman's stats would be a lot better than Vasher's, but he's not necessarily better. Edit: Here's the quote, from Football Outsider's Superbowl Preview: http://www.footballoutsiders.com/2007/02/01/ramblings/game-previews/4913/ There's a simple reason for that. More often than not, Tillman gets the #1 WR on the opposing team. There was some very lopsided matchups this year against teams with very weak #2 WRs. Roy Williams in Detroit to Tillman (twice), Vasher faced Furrey, who had a good year, but is not near the talent of Williams. Anquan Boldin in Arizona, Vasher faced Bryant Johnson with Fitzgerald out. Plaxico Burress in New York, Vasher faced guys who should have been #4 WRs. Lee Evans in Buffalo, Vasher again faced Josh Reed. In the playoff game in NO, Tillman got Colston, while Vash got Terrance Copper. Those are all guys who those teams' passing games revolved around. Those are guys that are gonna get the ball thrown to them regardless of who is on them. Vasher is a very good CB though. I think Nate could handle those matchups also. He did a great job whenever he did get a tough matchup. But to me, Tillman is a better keeper because he's a better tackler and he's miles better against the run. The top tier of CBs is Champ Bailey. After that, I think Vash and Peanut are in that next tier. Last thing, somebody posted that Ike Taylor had the most passes thrown his way in 2005. Well, I thought he played better CB than anybody in the NFL last season. Don't know what happened to him this year, though. Wrong. Tillman wasn't healthy to play in Detroit, and that was one big reason why he caught all over us.
  18. Way to take well thgouht out and nuanced opinions and reduce them to their lowest common denominator. its what i do. Seriously though it does seem strange how fast you guys are abandoning Zambrano. It doesn't seem like that to you? No it doesn't. It seems like people are looking at his situation and realizing that giving a pitcher $20m per over a long term when that pitcher has giant red injury flags everywhere might be a bad idea, so they are open to the idea that trading him could bring in a terrific haul of players. Replace "players" with "prospects" and you are right. How long can we delay being even, you know, decent?
  19. Honestly I'm not even talking about specifics here, just the general mood and attitude towards Zambrano has changed just because of some comments he made. I honestly don't see him being this hardcore in negotiations.

  21. This is so bizarre. For 8 friggin' injury filled years, you guys have latched onto Kerry Wood's jock. After, like, basically one game. And now Zambrano wants some money, and *poof* you guys want him traded immediately. Unbelievable.
  22. I especially enjoy the Fire Jerry Angelo site. Because its still up.
  23. The Bus finally got a ring, that's the last Super Bowl I remember. All of that has been blocked from my memory. I don't see why you'd have to block anything from memory, that makes it all the sweeter. I agree to an extent, but that one really really hurt. I did my best to forget that game as soon as "he missed it". Yeah, that 2005 Colts team was the best Colts team I have ever seen-great offense, good defense, good special teams. They just had the tragedy and then too much rest for the key people, and they took 3 quarters off and it was 1 quarter too much. That was a tough one to swallow for sure-in the playoffs, the 2006 team finally started looking somewhat like the 2005 version again. It's interesting. This year's Colts: maybe not quite as high-octane as the 2005 group. But tougher, a little more experienced, maybe a little more battle tested. And that got 'em through. I still don't think that Steelers team was all that great. Should have lost against the Colts----didn't impress me in the Super Bowl, got a ton of calls from the refs, made a couple gadget plays and won it. :-\ Not so sure about that Soul. That Steelers team completely and utterly outplayed that Colts team, as many Colts fans will admit to. In fact, that Colts team was the benefit of perhaps the worst call I've seen in professional sports, and still was short. That call sickened me, and in a way the Steelers almost deserve the reverse karma in the Superbowl. But not really. BTW, the Colts got hit with that exact same call from the same referee in the first Jacksonville game this year-so you can rest easy that karma has been served:D Yeah, the Steelers outplayed the Colts, but I think what he meant is that the Steelers were the benefit of a Colts team that was completely shell shocked from the tragedy plus the rest. The Colts didn't come ready to play until the 4th quarter-the Steelers too advantage of that, but it was really the collapse of the Colts team that day, not the Steelers who just imposed their will (with the exception of the Colts offensive line to the Steelers defensive line-there, the Steelers definitely imposed their will). It was the most disappointing thing I've ever seen to see a team that good just look like they were somewhere else for 3 quarters and make mental mistakes they hadn't made all season. Whatever. In the end its all moot since you guys get to be all happy with your trophy. Never meant or implied that the Steelers were the better team, but they certainly were the best team on the field.

  25. If A-Rod averages 42 home runs a year through his age 38 season, he'll have more than 800 home runs. Barring any significant injuries, I think he'll make it. Averaging 42 homers a year for that length of time is no small feat.
