  1. The last 10-12 plays have ripped my heart out. Why must you do this to me Illini?
  2. As poor of a defensive outfield consisting of Soriano and Dunn would be, I would die if we could get him.
  3. Damn you Derrek Lee, Aramis Ramirez and Soriano for having 3 bad games!
  4. Everytime Juice drops back I scream my head off. There is absolutely no reason why we should ever pass the ball. Just mix in equal parts Spread Option, I-Form, and maybe some quick screens. thats it.
  5. At least Illinois won. :) Oh but the Bears and Cubs this weekend, oh man. :(
  6. Hey guys, lets not make an out until this game is tied.
  7. Doug Davis is looking pretty all over the place, we need to knock him around.
  8. Are you serious? When you scorch a ball that would be a sure double 5 feet to the right or left and its caught, you hold that against the hitter? Its not like they have targetting lasers or something. IMO, the job of the hitter is to hit the ball as hard as he can, he can't do anything else.
  9. Better than Riot. Not ideal, but I don't mind. At least the riot can put together some competent at bats every once in a while. Jacque Jones at bat embarrasses me to be a Cubs fan. And yet, somehow, when Theriot came up to the plate, he was slightly more likely to make an out. Not arguing that fact, but I still have yet to figure out why.

  11. Or we don't? We don't have to force a game 5. This will be an interesting series, I fear for a Dempster meltdown in a crucial game.
  12. Calls get made, things happen. The ump was waiting to make teh call because he wanted to see if Barrett held onto the ball. He did think that Holliday slid under the tag, it would be tough for anyone without instant replay to say. We have instant replay and crazy camera angles so we can make more informed decisions, he has to make one in a few seconds. Either way, I feel like Colorado deserved this one. Well fought, guys.
  13. Oh, Soul, thinking that Illinois wont give a game away is silly. The only thing Illinois does is make stupid mistakes in an attempt to give away games. 15 yard punts? Hitting the punt returner when he calls fair catch? Thats the name of the game. 8-) The only way we win is when we build up a big enough lead to hold off all of our stupid mistakes.
  14. Has nothing to do with what you posted... but everytime I read one of your posts, I think you're the dude with the bloody nose in your av. I wonder if you guys think I'm a famous young hot girl. sorry, did you say something? I was staring at your Rusch's JoePa? On a Cubs board? Shouldn't you be drawing up gameplans or recruiting players or whatever they have your senile butt doing? BTW, on Baseball Between The Numbers, I would recommend it to anyone who is a fan of baseball. Its just well written and sums up a lot of the strange acronyms easily and succinctly that you hear thrown around. Plus its just a good read.
  15. You have to admit its mind boggling that a guy with as much power as he has (33 homers in a down year with time missed) only puts up an OBP of .337. Seriously, he needs to parlay more of his at bats into walks, but considering he's on the other side of 30 its not like he's ever going to change. (How did he have an OBP of .350+ last year though?) Its really hard to be satisfied with a .337 OBP from one of your top guys, but Soriano comes close. (Especially at the top of the order. :( And with Theriot batting second, we are really shooting our offense in the foot every game) If I had to give his performance a grade this year it would vary from B- to B. But again, as a poster said- this is just year 1 of a 7 year deal. Bleh.
  16. I for one, am extremely happy that we are ending this ridiculous offensive era of baseball. The mystique of the 50 home run year has all but dissapeared, and its something I never properly experienced. (my brother always tell me how crazy it was when Cecil Fielder hit 50 and no one had done it like 25 years) 40 homers should be a monster year by any standard, and for a little while players hitting 35+ with decent OBP/SLG had "down" years. (Think of A-rod last year!)
  17. Quite the understatement, no? Braun: 321/366/632 OPS+ 152 Tulo: 289/359/475 OPS+ 108 That's basically the same as saying that Fielder is slightly better offensively than Mark Derosa. Let's not let facts get in the way of my argument, please? :-) Regardless, I'd still rather have Tulowitzki on my team. I'd rather have Tulowitzki on my team because we have an offensive hole at SS and...quite the opposite at 3b. I really think Lou should win manager of the year. I'll be the first person to say that the manager means very little, or at least a lot less than most people think, but Lou definitely made a great difference this year. Given the roster and resources this year, does Dusty get us to the playoffs? Absolutely not.
  18. We need to have a playoff. As many as 8 teams every year should be in contention for the national championship every year. Also why is Wisonsin and top 5 team and not Ohio State? They have exactly the same credentials.
  19. The Bears are going to lose BADLY to the Lions. This is incredibly depressing. At least the Mets are getting crushed. Go Phillies!
  20. I love it, go buckeyes. Even in a down year they are the most competitive Big Ten Team. Also, go Illinois. We gotta get a bowl bid this year.
  21. I'd rather see Hill than either of them. Coming out of the bullpen? Oops, read that wrong.
  22. I'd rather see Hill than either of them.
  23. They may be the hard hitting youngsters, but they are still the cubs. get a man on third and we have 3 strike outs in the inning. also, man it would be nice to see a no hitter.
