    that ruled, I was 99% sure they were gonna lose when they went down 24-17, but Cutler willed them to victory. Its probably the best the O-Line has looked since...well, 2006 maybe?

    I would probably take the corpse of Nate Burleson over some of the players we have at wide receiver. Dane Sanzenbacher, your high energy and effort aside, I'm looking at you. Now Bernard Berrian on the other hand? Not so much. He and Ben Gordon's career have pretty much the exact same arc too, its eery.

    About halfway through the 3rd quarter I thought to myself "well this is nice, a relaxing win just like last week" nope, shouldn't have thought that. Cutler had a pretty poor game, even considering how few favors Martz and his O-line was giving him. Forte had a very strong game, again. Roy Williams..hm. Hester also was pretty damn stupid here and there, catching punts when he shouldn't have and not waving for a fair catch when he should have. Probably cost us ~50 yards of field position on the day.

    even with my meager expectations the Bears managed to underachieve, embarrass themselves, and look utterly dysfunctional. And the O-line wasn't even that bad for the most part! Incredible. I'm gonna listen to Doug and OB for more schadenfreude

    Thats what makes it all the more painful, they lose one of the best QBs of all time, and then install...apparently one of the next best QBs of all time. Are you kidding? Can the football gods throw us a bone here? No? Not in 100 years? Yeah I've been avoiding this forum for a while because that loss was painful on a one-game-this-sucks level and a bubble bursting level. This team is just not much better than last years, which got a handful of breaks, and this team has a much, much harder schedule. Also whatever pixie dust we got to avoid injuries has left and been replaced with magical PAIN DUST

    I think he is, but he's gonna need a few more pro bowls (may not get that) and a bit more hype in his later career. I don't think the rest of the county hears as much about Urlacher after his first few years where he came out and was instantly one of the best linebackers in the league. He's had a quiet last 5 or so years since his DPOY. A Superbowl victory will help his case, certainly. :-"

    Until this year when he got ruled out because of the neck injury putting Peyton's Colts in the playoffs was a safer bet than US Treasury Bonds

    You rule. That game ruled, damnit, I'm starting to feel better about this season. Cutler looked really good. The O-line was bad, (the tackles/tight ends especially) but not bad enough to truly hurt Cutler. The defense played well, and most impressively and importantly the defensive line played really well. Damnit. Now if you can take 1 of the next 2, you are off to a very good start to the season. Damnit. Don't make this 2002 all over again and have a strong start after a good, but luck-aided season and then collapse. Do not do this to me.

    I'm really glad this wasn't a meaningful game because the fact that the Bears 'lost' would have infuriated me. Strange to see the Bears 1st team offense move at will. Still clean up those Special Teams things please.

    We always go back to Grossman-chat I want people to go back and watch highlights of Grossman's 2006 season. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_B_yKbNSX0 (skip the first minute of some weird dude talking) Look at the pocket he has (at least at the beginning of the season, take notice of the opponents he has success against, Lions, Giants, Bills..) Look at how well the Offensive Line pass protected, I have to almost double take when I see this because I feel like after the past 3 years I've never seen someone in a Bears uniform able to actually block a dude. Grossman just bombs it out with that pocket, in fact if you're an NFL quality Quarterback you'd bomb it out too. Its not that difficult to find a guy who can sling the ball around without any pressure. Also you can already tell his footwork is abominable, but thats not gonna hurt him until later, when the pass blocking completely falls apart. Many have already turned on Jay, too. Much of that is dumb, unsophisticated "I'm frustrated at my team and I want to be mad at the guy who personifies the offense" complaining.

    Wade's pretty good at blowing smoke up Chicago's collective asses, I listened to some of the interview when it aired, whatever. Like a lot of people have been saying, we may be seeing him in his decline phase anyway, so continue to be a smug dude, we'll see what happens in the next 5-6 years.

    Yeah, but you're a Packers fan. With the Cubs flaming out (that was obvious) and the Bears (probably) going to have a more disappointing season, I need some bright spot in my sports life, and basketball is a great way to supply that when you have a good team. Oh and I'm an Illini fan. :lol:

    Yeah I dunno whats funny, this was probably a more encouraging game for the Bears than the Bills preseason game (the one they won) O-line looked almost looked like it was composed of professional football players

    Honestly, I'm more worried about the interior line. Theres things you can do to mitigate problems at the tackle positions, keep a Tight End in (and it seems like their mantra with the tight ends this year is basically block first) but problems inside ? You're screwed. And if Chris Williams keeps getting shoved to the ground and Garza and Spencer can't handle it, pretty much kiss any hopes of even a mediocre offense goodbye.

    I'm still flabbergasted that the team can have so much cap room and Angelo basically completely neglects the offensive line. Is it pride? You can't watch last night's game and believe that that can work.

    Gillick coming on board or not (and I don't think he will) doesn't mean its ok that Hendry keeps a job, no matter how nominal it is. I know its been said, and its just as tired now as it was then, but I am very close to being done with this franchise. Especially if the Ricketts family remains as ownership for a long period of time. In a very short amount of time they've lost my vote of confidence.

    I think with this, officially, the 2011 Cubs have become more embarrassing, pathetic and boring than the 2006 Cubs. One may ask, "How can a team with so many spectacular failures and humiliations be boring?" Well, one can stand only so many toothless claims from Zambrano before it becomes passé.

    I've become single-minded. I almost don't care at all about getting a depth chart of linebackers, or how our safeties are going to look, or who's going to play wide receiver. There remains only one thing I care about. Fix the damn o-line. It screams out to me. How could it not? It was the main weakness of the team for the past 2 seasons. It cost game after game, and still its there. It is a specter hanging over this team, yet the people (the man? Martz has said publicly he'd like more bodies in camp) continues to ignore it. We have money. We have cap space. It boggles the mind. Just sign someone that can play. Anyone that can play guard at a professional level. I have seen nothing that guarantees that Chris Williams can do that. Why not? You have the money, the worst thing that happens is the guy rides the bench and is good depth. Or is it pride? Is it admitting that your 1st round pick can't play Tackle, can't play Guard, and can't really do much of anything for you? Why play with fire again, Angelo?

    With this much money left there is no excuse for them not to get a high-profile Guard. They need to get one for any guarantee of success on the offensive line, even if its just for depth alone.

    Sounds like Angelo is done looking for free agent Offensive Lineman. Forget everything I said before, this is an utter failure of a GM. He needs to sign an interior starting quality player to go along with this Spencer guy or the line will be an unmitigated disaster.

    The Bears need to shake their typical conservative ways (although they show flashes of courage here and there, the Cutler trade, the Peppers signing) and go after another couple big name players. Braylon Edwards would be nice. And while I'm confident they will sign another interior lineman of notoriety, he should be like, good, and not a retread.
