  1. Pretty unfortunate waking up to this news, but I'm not as devastated as I thought I'd be. I dunno...maybe just because knowing a wild card was the best we could do, I was gearing up for us to lose it in dramatic fashion too, a la the 2004 Cubs. They were playing really well, Cutler was having his best season as a Bear, so its really unfortunate. It'll be interesting to see if Hanie can offer us anything, he can move around there, had a good arm, and has been in the system forever now, but super unlucky to have to go vs. a resurgent Raiders road game. I felt pretty confident with Cutler against them, now we're gonna need a strong game from everyone else.
  2. Hey remember when the park district and the Bears decided to stay with the crappy grass field instead of field turf because of injury issues? Well Knox slipping on the poor footing led to the interception which led to our QB breaking his thumb and being out for the season, so, good job Chicago park district. I always knew he was going to get a severe injury with the Bears, I just always figured it would occur in the pocket.
  3. despite the fact that rivers has the ugliest release in football, he's still a really really good quarterback with 2 super dangerous weapons. Especially when you don't get his jersey too dirty and Vincent Jackson is interested in playing football and running free, yeah they can rack up the points. Mostly I was disappointed in the pass rush, playing the high single safety, you're gonna have some open plays downfield, its just gonna happen. Everything else was the goods, and teams really need to stop kicking to Hester.
  4. It's really nice that Martz finally said 'eff it, I'm gonna let Cutler do what Cutler does' Also, he abandoned the run when it wasn't working, which is good. He showed a lot of flexibility when it was needed. Defense was rough though, its gonna happen from time to time.
  5. Jerseys are jerseys. They are ugly, but whatever.
  6. I missed the play when Suh tried (and almost successfully) to rip Cutler's head off and I'm done defending him. He is getting too damn ridiculous and blatant with his excessive violence. And that didn't get a flag either. Ugh. Now I feel more in line with everyone else saying how justified the Bears were in going after Lions players.
  7. Yeah I believe Wild Cards are locked in at 5th or 6th seeds, thats why the Saints had to travel to Seattle last year even though they were a 7-9 team. edit: damn, beaten twice.
  8. Oh [expletive] I missed this. Damn. He had been playing pretty well. You guys said Carimi had a set back? I was going to say move Lewis back inside and bring Carimi to right tackle...crap we are in for some shitty linemen aren't we.
  9. Well that was fun, though the chippiness boiled over into a brawl, but I just kept wishing that no one would seriously get hurt. (Peppers looked gimpy again, despite playing really well, and Hester went out again, but I doubt its serious) Its one of those few blowouts where you didn't really learn much about the Bears, because the Lions were in full meltdown mode. The Bears didn't need to do anything on offense, and thank god they didn't need to. In fact the offensive line didn't play very well, Cutler was a bit inaccurate, and the receivers failed to make plays again. Oh well, again it didn't really matter. I'm sure Lovie was glad the defense made up for its lack of turnovers with, what 6, today? That was cathartic.
  10. The Blue on Blue reminds me too much of the Grossman years so I want it banished The white on whites are good Also, for whatever reason both of the monocolor schemes make fat people look extra fat
  11. I miss John Tait
  12. We always appear to play poorly in the orange jerseys EXCEPT that one game against the Niners when Vasher took back the field goal try 109 yards, and even then we didn't play well and the it was one of the weirdest games ever with the insane wind.
  13. I know seriously. I'm upset that we still have to play this game before we get to the soft underbelly of the AFC West. Every other team in the NFC North has gotten a chance to feast on them except us. (So odd that we get all 4 in a row like that) Another must win, gosh, I don't feel as doomed as I did before the Eagles game which means I'm priming myself up for more disappointment, weeeeee
  14. Also, has Hester actually regressed as a receiver? I haven't seen someone with such bad hands actually line up at the spot in an NFL game like this. He's now had 1-2 awful, inexcusable drops the last four or five games.
  15. that ruled, I was 99% sure they were gonna lose when they went down 24-17, but Cutler willed them to victory. Its probably the best the O-Line has looked since...well, 2006 maybe?
  16. I would probably take the corpse of Nate Burleson over some of the players we have at wide receiver. Dane Sanzenbacher, your high energy and effort aside, I'm looking at you. Now Bernard Berrian on the other hand? Not so much. He and Ben Gordon's career have pretty much the exact same arc too, its eery.
  17. About halfway through the 3rd quarter I thought to myself "well this is nice, a relaxing win just like last week" nope, shouldn't have thought that. Cutler had a pretty poor game, even considering how few favors Martz and his O-line was giving him. Forte had a very strong game, again. Roy Williams..hm. Hester also was pretty damn stupid here and there, catching punts when he shouldn't have and not waving for a fair catch when he should have. Probably cost us ~50 yards of field position on the day.
  18. hey guys I think I might get back into caring about baseball again
  19. even with my meager expectations the Bears managed to underachieve, embarrass themselves, and look utterly dysfunctional. And the O-line wasn't even that bad for the most part! Incredible. I'm gonna listen to Doug and OB for more schadenfreude
  20. Thats what makes it all the more painful, they lose one of the best QBs of all time, and then install...apparently one of the next best QBs of all time. Are you kidding? Can the football gods throw us a bone here? No? Not in 100 years? Yeah I've been avoiding this forum for a while because that loss was painful on a one-game-this-sucks level and a bubble bursting level. This team is just not much better than last years, which got a handful of breaks, and this team has a much, much harder schedule. Also whatever pixie dust we got to avoid injuries has left and been replaced with magical PAIN DUST
  21. I think he is, but he's gonna need a few more pro bowls (may not get that) and a bit more hype in his later career. I don't think the rest of the county hears as much about Urlacher after his first few years where he came out and was instantly one of the best linebackers in the league. He's had a quiet last 5 or so years since his DPOY. A Superbowl victory will help his case, certainly. :-"
  22. Until this year when he got ruled out because of the neck injury putting Peyton's Colts in the playoffs was a safer bet than US Treasury Bonds
  23. You rule. That game ruled, damnit, I'm starting to feel better about this season. Cutler looked really good. The O-line was bad, (the tackles/tight ends especially) but not bad enough to truly hurt Cutler. The defense played well, and most impressively and importantly the defensive line played really well. Damnit. Now if you can take 1 of the next 2, you are off to a very good start to the season. Damnit. Don't make this 2002 all over again and have a strong start after a good, but luck-aided season and then collapse. Do not do this to me.
