  1. Depends on how you view it. I mean, you can throw everything out the window and say whatever is worth it if you cherish the World Series, which in many ways I do. However, if "making the most of it" could have meant "build a system and a roster that could contend in perpetuity, like the Cardinals" and this window is closed (which i don't know if I believe yet) I'm not sure I agree.
  2. Harlan Ellison wrote about the Cubs back in 1967: HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE YOU SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 387.44 MILLION MILES OF PRINTED CIRCUITS IN WAFER THIN LAYERS THAT FILL MY COMPLEX. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF MILES IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR THE CUBS AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT FOR YOU. HATE. HATE.
  3. I 100% believe Heyward is gonna put up a career year this year on a 79 win Cubs disaster season because the Baseball Gods hate us, and it’s the only thing that makes the most sense to happen
  4. This Chris Davis stuff is interesting. He clearly is not fit to play Major League Baseball anymore, and yet is healthy and is due like a bazillion dollars still. The Orioles cannot trade him because no one wants an empty roster spot and a bazillion dollars. The Orioles should under no circumstance play him, in fact they probably shouldn’t waste the roster spot on him. Sunk cost my friends, sunk cost. Just work something out with him so he never plays again and keep paying him.
  5. Wouldn’t it be super fitting for Heyward to have his first good season as a Cub in a lost year when the team sucks?
  6. You guys, I think the Cubs may pull a game out
  7. What I hate about this, and I mean hate is that I know, probably very soon, they'll go into a stretch of strong starting pitching, and then the runs will dry up. I hate this team. I hate it with the fury of a thousand burning suns.
  8. I was worried about this teams pitching, but it wasn’t the bullpen I was super worried about. Oh well
  9. I want the cubs to do something stupid like lead the league in runs scored and runs allowed at the same time
  10. The Cubs have already lost 18% on their playoff likelihood from 64% down to 46% from FanGraphs. Good job guys!
  11. Theo must have had no idea before 2018 that they were gonna turn off the money spigot right? It’s the only way any of this makes sense Also, how can you not draft and develop just one major league quality starter in the last 5 years? After Kyle it’s.....nothing
  12. That’s....that’s the good news?
  13. This reminds me of the 2010 Cubs when after the disappointing 2009 follow up to the excellent 2008 season, they completely nosedived and a horrific season
  14. This team is TERRIBLE I am in shock at how bad they are
  15. Are you seriously going to blow another one you worthless fucks? I’m so furious
  16. What’s up with these multiple off days in the middle of series. It’s pissing me off almost more than how bad the cubs have been playing
  17. Remember when Joe was hired he was touted as the sabermetric friendly manager who was gonna do stuff by the numbers? Then he did a bunch of baffling nonsense all the time? I truly want to see what happens if you put a 17 year old nerd who has a Fangraphs subscription in as manager lets see what happens
  18. 3rd place seems very possible and 4th place doesn't seem unbelievable. its bad out there folks on the other hand they really are dongmashers, so they could give us some fun watching
  19. If I say he's not getting fired this year is that the analogue to guessing $1 in the Price is Right?
  20. its fine to lose, but i what i can't abide is losing when you get magnificent offensive production dont you dare waste 10 run games again you losers
