Bad news for you that the Cubs will almost certainly make the playoffs then, I guess Mediocrity for this team is more likely to be repeated playoff heartbreak, and not playing ~slightly above .500~ ball that the Pirates have perfected. Which, hilariously, is no different than winning 100 games every year for 10 years. This is such a weird gotcha (and like from Cubswin11). It’s the only gotcha that exists. You can not deny the numbers. You can not deny your destiny.

Why would anyone want that? Because, as I explained before, I have issues with the Cubs and the people who own them and run them and the people they choose to employ. Cool road trip where the Cubs hold a lead in 6 out of the 7 games and go 2-5. Lots of poor luck, lots of annoying things. Still, this season is not 1/10th as infuriating as last years was down the stretch, so I have my serenity.

are you out of your damn fool mind? The team that's a half game back, is 85% to make the playoffs according to FanGraphs and has a massive RS/RA lead on the its competitor is "not doing dick this year" You have completely lost the plot.

Weirdly, this team will almost certainly finish with fewer wins than last years team but I much much much prefer this team. Maybe its because the way the 2018 team played down the stretch was so bad. This team has furious hot and cold streaks, more than the average MLB team (no dont show me numbers I know I'm right) but when Kimbrel comes through and if the starting pitching stays strong, they'll be more than fine. The division playoff and WC game sucked but they finished 34-22 from August-Sept, 18-10 Aug, 16-12 Sep. that’s not “bad.” It took a team playing at like 140 win pace for ~40 games to make it “bad.” they were bad -
