  1. If Dalton comes in this game I’m turning it off to
  2. There's a part of me, which I know isn't exactly true, that almost doesn't care how well we do in the standings for a few years if I at least get to see an above average offense for a consistent period of time. Now I know it isn't true. I know it would drive me nuts in an equal and opposite way that watching a consistently good defense combined with horrible offenses has for my entire life. But I just want to know what it feels like. I want to taste it. Show me what a good consistent passing attack. What would it look like to see a 15 yard pass and not think its semi-miraculous. Please. Just a taste.
  3. ONLY THE CARDINALS get to have a 40 year old pitcher effortlessly shut down one of the best offenses in the league I hate Adam Wainwright with all of my being and I’m positive I’ll never be free of him haunting my dreams
  4. Matt Nagy is a really weird guy. Regardless, however we got here, I'm glad Fields is starting the next game and we're going to see how he does with adversity. It's also going to be ok if he struggles a lot and even if he needs to sit after a string of bad games. But it's the right move and I'm glad its happening.
  5. I don’t care about “staying in the playoff hunt” one iota. I know what this team is and it’s not very good and that’s fine, because we have hope in a player who played very well last week
  6. You love to see it
  7. That was a lot of fun. We unfortunately missed the first couple drives as we waited at the gate for a friend of ours but the first game in person: fun. Fields was overall very good. Was obvious he held onto the ball a little too long on a handful of plays, and the tipped interception was not a great decision to throw right a Dlineman. But on the whole he impressed. Hope Montgomery is alright. Hope to see more Fields.
  8. Something that feels very true to me is if a second team came to Chicago it would inevitably boast extremely effective awesome offenses with great sterling quarterbacks and would never ever ever have a good defense
  9. As someone who grew up in Arlington Heights it’s really funny to imagine a Super Bowl hosted in the “downtown” there. I’m not sure they can accommodate a regular NFL game crowd, much less the tens of thousands who would swarm from out of town. Like, it was a big deal when I was a kid when a Noodles and Company opened up next to the movie theater. I can’t imagine the folks that live downtown are super stoked about this. (Though I’m sure property developers are salivating)
  10. Huh. I didn’t expect this to actually happen. Well then.
  11. This is my first Bears game ever. Moderately excited. Given it will be my first in person game, I’m assuming something really stupid like “Nick Foles starts” happens
  12. I’m not overly upset about the number of running plays they ran because the Oline was getting utterly dominated
  13. So that was nearly as bad as could be expected The coaching was awful and not attuned to what they needed to do in context of the talent but the biggest thing was the huge discrepancy in TALENT. The Bears OL is not pro level, just completely embarrassing. A huge shame for the defense who played heroically. They didn’t even really get to see what they have in Fields because he was running for his life all game. A failure on every level.
  14. how humiliating to assist the cardinals in breaking their franchise record for wins streak oh well. as long as they dont cardinal their way to another WS who cares
  15. You think the OL was good yesterday? I think the Browns D is going to pose a much bigger challenge than the Bengals. The Browns are better, but they did... Fine? I would like to see some line improvements next year, but there was a lot of doom and gloom about the line which clearly hasn't materialized through 2 games. Well, part of that is that they don't do a lot of deep drops because they don't have confidence the line can hold the protection. Montgomery has put in a heroic effort because there are times the blocks really aren't there and he finds some space. They aren't like, 2004 bad, but they're not good and I do think it would be wise to get Fields moving a bit more to get him comfortable. This is an interesting situation regarding QB because I expect Dalton is out this week but he wont be injured for too long. So it really is an opportunity for Fields to take the job and never give it back, but I'm not so sure that'll happen. But it'll be real interesting to see him with the keys to the car for a week (or maybe more).
  16. Enough ink has been spilled about this but if Nagy's whole thinking is like "Fields isn't going to start by week 4-5 but then will play" I find it absolutely baffling. If we're already accepting the fact that Fields is going to take the reins at some point this year, why not just do it now. What is 2-3 more weeks going to do. Just totally inane.
  17. It's good the Cubs have chosen a season nobody has any emotional investment in to blow I think 3 different games where they've held a 7-0 lead early on It's almost impossible to lose that many games like that
  18. Uhhhhh Well in 4 plays I think I saw how this season is gonna go for the most part
  19. Happ is absolutely murdering the ball the last month+. I think it’s safe to say he’s back, a solid 800+ OPS guy who you can count on in the future, right? Glad to see him right the ship.
  20. I gotta tip my hat to Jason Heyward, in an arch-disappointing season filled with awful performances, Heyward is flying under the radar in putting in his worst season as a Cub. Which is difficult because his 2016 was so bad. Currently at a .599 OPS. Keeping an eye on how poorly he ends the season.
  21. Friendship ended with Patrick Wisdom, now Frank Schwindel is my best friend
  22. As sad as it is to say, I think Soler got his one monstrous year out of the way and now he’s back to being Jorge Soler. Made of glass, butcher in the field, like a .750 OPS guy.
  23. Mets fans don’t know that that’s just regular Javy stuff. Honestly, I said it before and I’ll say it again: Javy was the one core guy I don’t want under contract into his 30s. He’s a valuable player now with all his physical talents intact, but I don’t want to know what he’s going to look like when his bat starts to slow and he can’t run like he used to. I mean, god bless him, he can’t manage a .300 OBP *now* consistently, what’s it gonna be like in 5 years?
  24. History says “never”, as OL has been a concern every year I’ve watched this team (under multiple coaches and GM’s) I'm straining to think of a period where the OL was good for a long stretch, but I'm pretty sure the 2005-2006 teams had good line play, or at least, they stayed healthy enough that it worked out well enough. The last 10 years have been just consistently awful though.
  25. Sometimes you think there must be something the fan isn't privy to, that the front office/coaching staff/medical team has some hidden insight into a player that justifies an acquisition and continued use of a player who keeps failing on the field. And other times you're just like, oh they're just as dumb as any of us - this guy is demonstrably done as a player and somehow keeps getting chances. Everything about Arrieta now bums me out. It would have been better for him to have vanished in a puff of smoke after 2016.
