  1. We don't have to hope they tank, they're tanking. They're going to have two first round picks in the top 5 picks of the draft. I'm not super enthused about keeping Fields and having him start in front of a top QB pick like Williams because the vibes....will be all sorts of off there. What do you do if Fields has a pretty good season? Ideally this is a smart move - if we're talking cold calculations of talent and resources, but dealing with actual human beings...I dunno. You probably still have to do it, though. The worst option to me though is hoping some later round QB hits, eventually. Thats just not a way to get an elite QB talent.
  2. By the way, it's so Bears that the week when momentum has really moved towards using that 1st overall pick on a QB, a guy people have been raving about and saying things about how he's a generational talent....he goes and has a terrible game
  3. I'm as low as I've ever been on Fields after yesterday. I was sticking it out even after the first 3 weeks, but even accounting for everything - the bad snaps, the weak blocking, the poor play calling - Fields looked indecisive, football slow, and inaccurate. At a certain point it has to be unacceptable. I'm not totally out on him, but the pendulum has swung from Optimism to Pessimism. Here's hoping the injury isn't serious enough to take away a significant portion of this season, because the next 11 weeks are crucial for evaluation. The Bears are the only team - truly the only team in the entire NFL where hitting 100 yards passing is an open question every week. That just can't be the reality in the modern NFL, we're way past that. And somehow this is always the goddamn case for this team. Ugh.
  4. Which play did Fields get hurt on? I want to calibrate my judgment of how poorly he played while knowing when he got hurt
  5. Everything’s been said but weirdly the thing that bothers me the most are the bad snaps. It’s game 6 of a professional football season and I think a majority of the snaps were off in some way. How does that even happen??
  6. I'll be in attendance, my second ever Bears game. My first game was Fields's start against the Lions in 2021 when he had a pretty good bounce back game and beat them. So, hoping for a repeat.
  7. Can Roschon play that quick after a concussion protocol? I never know how that stuff works. Either way its not a great situation to have such a banged up RB corp, although it is, theoretically, the position that is among the most replaceable
  8. I'll say this: If the O-line plays like this consistently and you continue to get HOF caliber play from Moore, Fields will be fine.
  9. I could count only one play last night where Fields held the ball way too long and took an unnecessary sack. Progress!
  10. It's hard to imagine a more disastrous outcome from that trade. Gave up a top 2nd rounder, got fewer than 20 catches over the course of roughly a season, is a toxic presence, and then traded for something less than a 6th round pick. Not great, Ryan!
  11. Jesus Christ. Thats all we're going to get for Claypool? I had low expectations, but like, a 5th rounder low. I think I still like Poles's overall vision, but his specific scouting has been.....very spotty
  12. By the way, can we do something about all these high snaps? There were at least a half dozen that almost went over Fields' head, and only by his incredible athleticism did we miss several broken plays
  13. Yeah I feel for Mooney. He's struggled through some *bad* QB play in his early career, and he's been dependable and done as much as he can out there. Here's hoping that as defenses will superduper-extra key on DJ Moore (not that they haven't already) it opens up some more opportunities for him.
  14. DJ Moore has the talent to be in the HOF. Will he accumulate the stats he needs if he’s on the Bears for the rest of his career? It probably doesnt help him, lmao Proud to see Fields put two great games back to back. Let’s go folks, let’s see what he can do with the rest of the season
  15. Yeah I wrote that before I saw the missed field goal lol
  16. This is the equivalent of a game winning drive opportunity for Fields LET HIM THROW THE BALL PLEASE
  17. Third and a million yards….Washington has us where they want us
  18. Very oddly reff’d game. Definitely biased against the Bears and hilariously it shouldn’t matter, but the Bears should win going away and they are instead too stupid and injured to just blow a team out
  19. If there’s one thing the Bears defense loves to do, it’s give up conversions on 3rd and long
  20. MAYBE DONT JUST CALL TWO USELESS RUNS TO START OFF THE PIVOTAL DRIVE AND LET FIELDS THROW ON FIRST OR SECOND DOWN GOOD GOD
  21. 30 points is nothing special in the NFL in 2023, it’s far from a win guarantee
  22. I think more or less Fields will have to win this game again
  23. I’m a tad confused why when you’re down to literally using your fullback as a running back you run two plays in a row smashing him into the line for like 2 yards Oh well whatever
  24. If the Bears manage to lose this game Eberflus needs to be fired tomorrow TOMORROW
  25. Eberflus is a clown, but I’m glad I didn’t completely give up hope on Fields
