You know, I contemplated bringing politics into this earlier when making this argument, but I didn't want to take it there. Leave it to Tim to take the Cubs into the political gutter.... :cool:

Why? Lots of guys have closed once or twice in their career...what makes them more qualified? Do you think that Kerry Wood may crumble under the pressure? The guy has started and won playoff games, I think he can close a game against the Brewers in April. By the time we get to a playoff stretch, he'll have closed plenty and will have the "closer experience" you crave.

If you could trade for this guy as closer, would you? 129 career saves, 61 games pitched in 2007, with 8 saves. Lots and lots of bad relievers that have saves.

A noble act for a noble cause. Whats the over under on # of pages after the trade is actually announced (if its ever announced)...my guess is that it woudl be suprisingly little...I mean...seriously, how much more can be said about Brian Roberts? I'm seriously contemplating locking this thread the moment the trade is announced just because I can.

The radio here in Bloomington just said that rumors that State Farm was in negotiation for Wrigley Field naming rights was denied. Apparently SF is going to have more of a presence via signage in the dugouts though. -

Not that I really disagree with you guys, but didn't we say all last year how Derrek Lee was gonna get his power stroke going and we didn't need to worry about him, but then he never really did? I know, he was coming off an injury and all, but still.... -
