  1. Really? You guys want him running in front of D-Lee and Aramis?
  2. http://virtual.clemson.edu/groups/agsupport/USAwebpages/usa3939.jpg Name or Corporation?
  3. haha neither is branch!!! the nfl is funny with their contracts. I hope you aren't implying that the NBA and MLB don't have ridiculous contracts for players that aren't that good?
  4. No. It is named for Wrigley the man himself. In no way other than the commonality of the name "Wrigley" is there any effort to sell Wrigley's chewing gum products: no Wrigley logos, advertisements, &c. People fail to get this. "Durr, Wrigley's a corporate name too." No, it isn't. Yes. Yes it is. That's the advantage of naming a company after yourself. It's like saying Turner Field isn't a corporate name. Or Coors. I'm sure there's plenty of others.
  5. I generally agree with David Haugh...this is an instance where I don't. He's been very good about emailing me back on the occasions that I've emailed him over an article.
  6. Just build it there with the bleachers up against the skyline. It would look amazing. Something about Wrigley bleachers and skyscrapers skyline doesn't seem to sit right with me. I'd have to see it to be sure though. If its apartments and condos, depending on the look of them (are they really tall, made of brick/stone or steel) I could totally go for it. quick and dirty (sorry for the black&white, but it's tough to find a skyline photo from the vantage point of that neighborhood) http://www.simleaguebaseball.com/derwood/wrigleycabrini.jpg Yea, tha's pretty much it. So awesome. Well yeah, except of course it wouldn't be "Wrigley"...it'd be a newer stadium, but for point of reference it works. Chicago's skline as a background is fantastic. I understand why people don't want the Cubs to move...it would have a massive effect on the local area if the Cubs moved, and much of the fan base would be disillusioned, but Wrigley would still be there, and could be used for exhibition games, or other events so as far as the historical nature of things, it would still be present. I know there's a whole freaking lot of detail that I'm not considering here, but my point is that I'm not so attached to Wrigley that I would be opposed to this idea were it to be feasible. All that said, I don't see it happening.
  7. I'd rather the Cubs just built a new stadium than go through all this Wrigley rebuilding...but I know I'm in the minority.
  8. I don't think my bank account is big enough for that. It's clear that you just don't love the Cubs enough.
  9. I wonder if they'd do something like "Wrigley Field presented by Old Style"
  10. Sorry, there's no motivation in telling someone that they have no shot. Tell them it's a long shot...fine...but telling them they have no chance is more likely to just depress them, or make them feel resigned to the minors.
  11. Sadly, yes. It's the Bears. The can screw up even a lock draft pick. Except that Angelo has done pretty much everything we've all suggested so far.
  12. They also decided you aren't cool either....ZING!!!
  13. You're right, it's not...but the fact that you're posting presumably means that you want others to be able to understand what it is you're trying to say and what it is you're trying to respond to, both of which haven't always been easy with you, at least in this thread.
  14. I'm glad TLR didn't get his way. No thanks to facing Bonds that often. That said, I think there's too much baggage...too much circus that goes along with Bonds now for a team that thinks they are in contention to try to work around.
  15. So he's going for that WS ring before he retires, eh?
  16. viewtopic.php?p=1653144#p1653144 As you pointed out in this argument, the point of a government isn't the same as a business. It's not to make money, it'...well...to govern. So why does business level executive experience matter for anything? Unless I'm misunderstanding your point.
  17. So far so good...next steps...lose Griese and keep Berrian.
  18. Apparently there's a photo that has now been given to the Feds that shows Clemens at the Canseco party that Clemens claimed under oath that he didn't attend. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2008/baseball/mlb/02/22/clemens.party/index.html?cnn=yes
  19. You might very well be right, but then why are the Bears so convinced he could be a #1 WR at some point?
  20. Oh please. If it were up to you players would be the absolute most bland boring creatures on the face of the planet. They're human beings for God's sake and they're having fun. As for dempster being a crappy pitcher - yeah, as a starter. As a closer he blew THREE, yeah, THREE saves last year. What a piece of garbage. Lighten up, man. He's having fun. Eh, he is a pretty crappy pitcher, regardless of his luck in save situations last year. That said, that's still not a reason to dislike the guy personally. At least, not to me. We all know he sucks. It's not like his jokes make him suck more. It's all in good fun. Yeah...Dempster made a lot of games closer than they should have been. But that's not really the point of the thread. Can't we just have a fun thread without getting all "bash bad player X"?
  21. If Hester starts getting a lot of WR playing time, and overall improves at the position, it will help cover a lot of Berrian's route running issues. That's a potentially big "if" though.
  22. It actually never opens in a new tab/window now, even with the tags. Your code half-un-fixed the problem. Oops...yes. It's a matter of dueling requests. I should read closer. Perhaps you could teach me about reading before replying, Bob? 8-[
