  1. There's actually a previous thread dealing with this. We did add some code that half-fixed this problem. As long as a link is provided using the code, then it will pop a new window. If someone just puts in a url though, and lets the board software do the linking...then it pops in the same window. Not sure what can be done about that.
  2. Sprinters lean forward all the time right at the finish line. Why do they do that if it doesn't help them hit the tape slightly sooner? There are a couple of legitimate arguments against sliding into first IMO. (I haven't read the whole thread, so maybe this has already been covered. 1)Injury. I think it's far more likely to get hurt sliding into first than other bases as the ideal way to slide into first is actually to slide through first. Which leads me to... 2)Sliding through the bag. This is extremely tough to do without going outside the baseline. Just sliding into first by definition is going to slow you down, as you would have the goal of stopping on the bag, which is not necessary at first. That said, if you're 6 feet tall, when you slide, that means that's 6 feet less that your feet have to travel en route to the bag. It's essentially shaving off distance. I do believe that it's faster to slide in, but I'm not sure the negatives outweight the positives. I also wonder if sliding into first would be more beneficial to a slow guy than to a fast guy. A slow guy likely has an awkward stride anyway, and may be less "slowed down" is his preparation for the slide.
  3. I know you said free agency, but Chad Johnson is out there trade-wise...but I seriously doubt that Angelo would want to give up the necessary draft picks. EDIT: http://walterfootball.com/free2008WR.php Berrian is ranked 2nd after Moss.
  4. if this is true, i can see angelo keeping archuleta if he's only costing them 730k. i'm for cutting him, for no other reason than to send a message to the organization. if you suck, you're gone. Archuleta at this point provides no value to the team. Maybe he could do something on special teams, but he essentially is unable to do anything that the safety position requires. I don't see either Angelo or Lovie wanting to hold on to crap because it's cheap.
  5. I love these moves, but isn't the Moose release timing pretty curious? Doesn't it just give Berrian more leverage? The only way this makes sense to me is if they think they will end up franchising Berrian anyway, in which case the timing doesn't matter.
  6. Infante isn't a reliever, not that it makes anything any better I don't think he said that he was.
  7. Cintron = Izturis There you go. well cintron would = izturis if the plan is to start him. i'm thinking more along the lines of "first pinch-hitter every game regardless of situation" If Cedeno goes somewhere in a trade, and Theriot starts out with a thud, what do you think is gonna happen?
  8. If the goal was to find a SS that is actually worse than Theriot, then mission accomplished.
  9. Jason Stark finds out:
  10. I would by no means classify myself as an NBA fan anymore. But I just saw the highlights of that dunk contest, and that thing looked like it was quite a show.
  11. So Wrigley North would leave, and Busch West would come in?
  12. Admittedly, that one would make my "ignore" list.
  13. he's said about 1000 times that he's not running. if he changes his mind at this point he'd look really, really bad. if you deny it once and then change your mind, that's one thing, but repeatedly saying that you're not a candidate and then running? he'd get killed in the media for that. Just curious....Gore said he was 99% sure for months and months...if he'd decided in December to run, would you have thought the same thing? Maybe you would have..I'm just curious.
  14. So far so good with this replacement thread, but a warning for everyone. If all the immature jokes start again, some people are going to get some breaks from NSBB.
  15. Does McCain or Hillary have the experience for the Presidency though? They haven't been a Pres or a VP...which is the usual measure for those kind of things. I think that's where the Bush vs Gore argument really took place. Gore had been a VP for 8 years...the experience was tangible. The problem is that people aren't sure that Hillary has the experience, because does being First Lady equal Presidential experience? Maybe it does...but it's new ground for everyone.
  16. I dont thinks its talent we have issues with @ QB. its using them, and developing them. And more pressing needs elsewhere.
  17. Don Banks of CNNSI.com posted a mock draft today. Here's his Bears pick:
  18. Hendry would be worried about competition for the last donut. Sorry...had to be said... 8-[
  19. Inexperience is not synonomous with incompetence.
  20. The day the Brian Roberts trade happens, I'm locking this thread forever. It can't be allowed to live beyond the "rumor" stage.
  21. Did you mean he was going to vote for Clinton? If the thinks Obama has a better chance of beating McCain, why would he vote Obama? If McCain wins he gets to run again in 2012. If Obama wins the Republicans hopefully can come up with an actual conservative to run against him. Of course that assumes that 4 years is long enough for the voters to stop blaming the Republican party for Bush's presidency. It also assumes that they'll be able to find someone that is actually interesting. McCain is far from ideal but he's probably more what this country needs ie someone that can bring the 2 sides closer together. If McCain loses however I doubt I'll mind Obama too much so long as he's more of a centrist once he gets elected. That also assumes that Obama isn't a highly popular President.
  22. This hearing has me bored to tears already.
