  1. A relief pitcher should never be a sticking point, IMO. Maybe he believes that Marmol could start.
  2. This thread would be half the size without the "OMG THIS THREAD IS SOOOOO LONG" posts.
  3. I imagine Lou's status moving forward has a rather large variable...the sale of the Cubs...who buys it and what they do with the team.
  4. Yes, but your average American had never heard of him before those incidents, that's the point. But I don't think that was frostwyrm's point, which is where this spinoff discussion began. He was referring to Clinton's "easy circumstances" compared to Bush, and how no one had heard of Bin Laden, and while Bin Laden's status as a target has certainly increased since 9/11, it's not like he magically appeared that day. The Clinton administration was well aware of him and had about as much success getting him as the Bush administration has.
  5. How do I go premium? Since the switch to PhpBB3, Premium doesn't currently exist. I'm sure Tim will provide more updates when his schedule allows him to "recreate" Premium under the new board.
  6. Oooops. Sorry about the old link. Didn't notice.
  7. I changed the topic because I wanted to post mock drafts and such... :P http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/sub/mockdraft.html They have the Bears taking Woodson in the first round. They don't have the 2nd and 3rd rounds posted yet, but they seem to think the Bears need to use the first pick on a QB...FWIW. I especially like the part where the Jets draft a RB with Thomas Jones on the team. Oh the irony.
  8. Is it too early to assume the Bears will be going for a QB with their 1st pick? I said this on WCF, but Kiper has Erik Ainge in the 2nd round...if he lasts long enough for the Bears to take him there, I'd be fine with that. Then we can look at someone like Ryan Clady if he lasts long enough in the first round.
  9. In the interest of fairness, you would also have to allow the ladies on this site to have their own "hottest stud" type threads without interference of any male, regardless of how sexist their female comments might be. Chance of all males being able to refrain from that: close to 0%. they already have that: it's called threads on political candidates. ;) Hillary doesn't count as a "stud" no matter how manly she may be.
  10. I'm sure he still will, but I don't think there's one open at the moment, is there? And maybe he wants to take a less stressful position until one opens up with a team he's interested in.
  11. This was the part that I was interested in:
  12. Don't worry. We got Chad Fox. 8-)
  13. I'd be more excited about WCIU HD if they would give us WCIU down here in Bloomington in the first place.
  14. The point is, we already know they are a horribly run franchise. And my point is, if it's so widely-accepted that the Cubs are such a horribly run franchise, then one should have a very easy time pointing to concrete examples to support such an assertion rather than what amounts to essentially grasping at straws. Or the list of of examples is so hugely long over the course of a 100 year world series drought, and has been so thoroughly discussed over the years, that it's actually draining to rehash those discussions.
  15. I realize that I'm nitpicking a single point out of this, but this just isn't true. The US believed that Al Qaeda and Bin Laden were behind the 1993 boming of the WTC and the 1998 bombings of 2 embassies. How can Republicans question Clintons's response to Bin Laden, if nobody had ever heard of him?
  16. Calm down. Rosenthal just said the Cubs might be looking for a center fielder, so he threw their name in. It bothers me that anytime there is what appears to be a purely speculative rumor, we read a barrage of posts saying that "The Cubs are so stupid" and "Hendry is a moron." If overreactions bother you, you may want to reconsider posting on any message board...anywhere. :P
  17. I honestly think that you underestimate the Bush/Republican backlash out there right now. I think that's what is getting young voters and other folks that don't typically vote out to the polls. I genuinely believe that the Democratic Primary is the real race this year. I don't think a Republican can win the general election. Maybe I'm being naive or hopeful, but it's the feeling I get.
  18. Apparently Rosenthal said on the radio last night that he didn't believe that Marshall would be included in a Roberts deal.
  19. Like the Kobe to the Bulls deal, it's not a matter of "if", but "when".
  20. Taking this off topic for a moment here, I just went to that website and it had a nice big picture of Spike O'dell on there, and holy cow does he not look like the guy I had envisioned in my mind to go with that voice. That happens to me all the time with radio guys. Saw Dave Kaplan on Comcast last night and it was the same thing. Sorry for the diversion...didn't seem worthy of it's own thread...:P
  21. Agreed. I never thought of Clinton's elections that way. I'd say the last 2 were definitely "lesser of two evils" elections though.
  22. Don't worry, the Mods get paid by the page. What strange vocabulary is this? Are you making up words? :P
  23. Myths Debunked: Clinton Didn't Fight Terrorism I'm sure you can just as easily find a web page that says exactly the opposite, but it surely isn't as clear-cut as you presented it that Clinton was "less than spectacular" against terrorism. Bush has given the terrorists all the backing they've needed by instituting politics of fear. And terrorism can't magic away the Iraq war, which had nothing to do with terrorism. I would say Bush has been "less than spectacular" against terrorism. 9/11 was tragic. But it was the Bush administrations reaction to 9/11 that changed everything.
  24. not to mention the abysmal track record of college coaches going pro Exactly. So you think maybe if you'd just gotten burned, you might be a little gunshy to go down that path again. But hey...if it hurts an NFC team and a random California team, I'm happy. I would be too. O:) Though I'd love to see Neuheisel stick it to Petey first. Hey now...your random California team isn't immune from my geographically based "hater" attitude.
